MISFITS

For some reason, the contact with Aaron made Grims' mind go blank as a fresh sheet of paper. However, when he heard him suggest to remove his piercings, the idea echoed in his mind, Maybe I should, they do look kinda--Wait? What the hell's going on here?! He suddenly felt angry, and apparently Aaron felt it because he withdrew his hand. Just as suddenly, his thoughts returned to him. That was strange...

"I'd rather you didn't comment on how I choose to dress. I don't take too kindly to negative feedback. Also, 'Grims' isn't my real name. I don't trust anyone here enough to tell them what it is. You included." as he said it, Grims felt his mouth grow increasingly warm and actually burped up a flame as he said 'You included'. He was going to go on to tell Aaron that arrogance was a turn-off, but that's when he heard what sounded like that guy Chuck scream like a girl.

"Crap, what the hell's going on?" Grims sprinted past the others, being careful to not crash into anyone (years of narrow escapes into tunnels, alleyways, and pipelines taught him how to remain agile).

When he arrived at the source of the scream, he heard Toby accuse the guy, who was indeed Chuck, of...had he heard right? Killing the probation officer's Mightyena? He rounded the corner to the men's locker room and withdrew with revulsion. Right there, on the floor before him, was the mangled body of a Mightyena.

"What the hell did you do, Toby?!" Grims shouted. He stared at the body, unable to fully comprehend what was before him. "How'd...how'd this happen?" He began trembling, uncontrollably. His breathing was becoming shallow and raspy. Those eyes. That damn corpse's eyes! The image of them, lifeless, like two perfect, brown marbles was burned into his mind. Grims' knees gave out and he fell to the floor, catching himself with his hands. He began to heave, but what come out wasn't water, or puke, it was fire. He couldn't stop it, he just kept exhaling fire!

"Help..." he tried to say between heaves, "Help me...water!...water!!" Tears were pouring down Grims' face now. He felt helpless. Again.

It took all the strength Chuck had to not punch this ignorant b***h straight in the face. He wasn't exactly a hot headed person, but with all the things that had been going on, this was the last straw.

So, obviously, the only logical thing to do was pull the race card. "B*tch, It's 'cause I'm black, ain't it?!"

Normally an extremely well spoken man, he was reduced into using the horrible grammar that came with speaking Ebonics. He wasn't even full black, seeing how his dad was from Sinnoh, but he had still been discriminated against because of his race before, and he knew it wasn't going to be the last. He continued screaming even as a steady stream of people started to flow into the bathroom, including a chick.

"I done obviously just found 'dis sh*t on the floor, and they ain't no way in HAYELL I'm goin' to prison for some sh*t like 'Pokémon Cruelty'. 'Specially if its 'cause some dumb-a** white boy gonna come up in hiya and accuse me of it."

Getting it out of his system sure felt good. Releasing all that built up anger that this guy had given him, not only over the past week, but over the past hour, made Chuck feel replenished inside. But the scariest thing that he had done wasn't his screaming nor was it intentional, hell, he didn't even know he had did it, but while he was grilling him out in 'ghetto language' his face was rapidly turning into that of his father when yelling at his "employees" before he was going to "fire" them after doing a bad "job".

"Ah, Much better" he said outloud as his face turned back without his knowing, "But honestly, I didn't kill this mightyena"

Just as he finished getting the last words out the fire guy started to spew flames out his mouth, like he was some kind of broken chimney or something. Sh*t, Sh*t, Sh*t! was all he could think as the man screamed for water.

"The plumbings off"

He finally got out, hurriedly running towards the man, trying to figure out if there was anything he could do.

Grims barely saw Chuck running towards him through the smoke that was now rising from the flames. He didn't want to severely burn anyone so he raised an arm to try and keep him back. What he didn't expect was a fireball to shoot from his palm and hit Chuck in the chest! Thankfully, it was a rather weak fireball because it died on contact and didn't seem to knock him back or burn through skin, just a hoke in his shirt.

Chuck couldn't help but cuss aloud when the fireball made contact, it was his favorite shirt after all. Seeing the fire-breather raise up his arm to signal for no one to come near, he got out of the bathroom to make more room for people that could actually help.

"Maybe one us has a fire extinguisher power or something, but its clear that there is something f***ed up right here..."

He said over his shoulder as he left, aiming it at no one in particular. Exhausted from the unfolding scene inside, he re-exited the building to sit outside on the still moist steps. Quickly waving at the dirty blond, who he was still trying to figure out just how dirty, Chuck couldn't help but wish he had brought an extra shirt.

"I didn't do anything! And calm down man, you ain't even black but what's with your face!?" Toby waved his hands about and that was when Grims started puking fire. That's right, fire. And Toby swore he saw the other guy's face do something weird. So Toby wasn't insane after all! And everyone else could see it very clearly, staring at either it or the dead Mightyena.

"Help... Help me... water! Water!!" Grims managed to splutter out between the fire puke.

"The plumbing's off!"

"What do we do?" Toby went to turn another shower cubicle on but no water came out. Toby looked over at the Dragonite guy to see him a fireball burst from the smoke billowing around Grims and hit him in the chest, blowing a small hole into his orange jumpsuit. "What's wrong with you, do you like putting holes in our clothes?"

Thinking quick, Toby remembered what he had done before with the napkin. He punched the air, sending a small, fast air current towards Grims, breaking the smoke cloud and putting out the fire on the Dragonite guy's clothes. Grims lay there, quite exhausted as the Dragonite guy quickly left the scene.

"Do you still need that freaking water?"

The rush of air from Toby had taken his breath out of him, but at least the fire was out. Grims mumbled a thanks before slumping to the floor, entirely exhausted, and passed out.

The last thing he saw was the corpse of the Mightyena.

-Seto looked at the one passed out on the floor, his head cocked to one side. He had seen the gruesome corpse, but had kept his reaction hidden, one of the things he was good at. Seto was curious as to who really did kill the Mightyena, and was pretty sure that it was not those other convicts, so who was it. He had also seen a display of what what Shadu called pyrokinesis, and also aerokinesis. Very interesting indeed, what had been in that lightning anyway? He felt something cold and medium sized in his closed hand. He held it to his face, studying it. It was an ice cube. This helped him confirm his belief; he apparently had cryokinesis. He looked down at the one who had been literally breathing fire, then placed the ice cube on his head. It melted within a matter of seconds.- "Hot head." -he muttered under his breath. He walked outside of the center, where it was still raining. He held his hand to his face, looking at it before holding it above his head. The incoming raindrops landed on his hand... and froze, clanking and breaking on the ground around him.-

Shade watched Seto leave and sighed. Who could have done this she thought knowing when the probation officer showed up, they'd all be in hell, unless the woman met the same fate. I need a smoke was her next thought. Sure it was a bad habit, but it was one she couldn't break.

Without looking at the others she hurried outside leaning against the building as she lit the cigarette and smoked. She smiled to herself not that she'd want to admit it but the dead Pokemon had affected her more than she liked and the drug was calming her down.

"DAMMIT GUYS, HURRY THE F*CK UP!"

Will heard the yell for help coming from the locker room. He got up and followed Seto and Shade into the locker room, intrigued about what was going on. He could hear the whispers again, 100 voices pushing themselves into his head from every direction. It wasn't painful though, just really annoying and he found it hard to concentrate.

Most liking looking completely dazed, walked into the locker room. He felt like he had walked into a wall. The smell hit him so hard that he couldn't breathe. Covering his mouth and nose, he walked in and noticed the boy with the golden hair and piercings passed out on the floor. The others in the room seemed to be watching him warily, as if he was about to do something really interesting.

"So guys...whats going on?" Will said looking at them all. "Anyone wanna tell me the goss?"

Again nothing. No one paid any attention. He felt an anger rising in him.

"What! Am I invisible?!?!" He shouted. "DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT IM HERE!"

Suddenly the voices got extremely loud again, but he continued.

"SOMETHING IS HAPPENING, AND NO ONE WILL TELL ME!"

Feeling dizzy again, the voices were racing around in his head getting louder and louder and faster and faster and more and more voices forced themselves in. He covered his ears with his hands mid rant and started to shake his head. He could feel everyone watching him as he felt the whole world spinning around him. The noises suddenly stopped. The world stopped spinning. Someone had grabbed him.

Shade sighed as she smoked. Maybe all this weird stuff has to do with the lightning yesterday she thought taking another puff of smoke in. ahh, that's nice she thought as the drug entered her system quickly.

Kylie remained in the doorway, that is, until someone from within the center began to scream.

"DAMNIT GUYS, HURRY THE F*** UP!"

Kylie looked into the center, then back at the door, then decided to walk inside. She followed the multiple voices of her fellow probation workers into the bathroom. The moment she walked in, she could tell she had missed something big. All of the boys in the room were intensely looking at one another, and one was lying unceremoniously on the ground, panting.

"What's going on..." She asked hesitantly. And that's when she saw the Mightyena.

Kylie let out a shrill scream, and fell back against the wall in terror.

"What is this!?" she screamed, tears pooling in her big hazel eyes. "Who did this!?"

Mike gave a low whistle as he entered the community centre, picking up a shard of glass as he went. That had to have been some gale to smash the glass - certainly stronger than anything that would occur in Saffron. He wondered if the lightning storm had sent him into a coma and he was just dreaming of the ridiculous in an attempt to send himself a message. Whatever, he'd just enjoy the dream.

He bit his lip and closed his eyes again, experimenting. This time, he saw rain falling outside. It was an extremely strange sensations, seeing as he couldn't hear the sound of rain hitting the ground. He concentrated, and suddenly... he saw himself, beanie and trucker jacket and khaki pants and all, eyes closed and grin still plastered on his face. Wow, he hadn't realised his eyebrows were that big or his nose that hooked.

It was then that the scream ("DAMMIT GUYS, HURRY THE F*CK UP!) reached his ears, which felt even weirder than watching rain with the sound muted. He reacted on instinct, the image of himself blurring and being replaced by that of a mangled Mightyena, eyes open and glassy. He felt himself blanch and open his eyes, and there was one disorienting moment when his normal vision was superimposed over the sight of the dead Pokemon, which did nothing to help the churning of his stomach.

His vision swam, and his knees buckled as he threw up, head pounding and his heart trying to escape his ribcage.

"Oh god, I feel hung over," he groaned, wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand and trying to ignore the taste of bile in his mouth. He stood, shakily, and made in the direction of the bathroom to see whether he was crazy or psychic.

Just as he reached the door of the bathroom, a shrill scream pierced his ears, which only aggravated the dull throbbing in his head.

"What is this?! Who did this?!" he heard a girl shout - that short blonde one. He thought Kylie was her name - she was weird.

When he saw the Mightyena, he laughed weakly in disbelief. There was also a lot of smoke in the room for some reason and that guy who had kissed the Tony guy in the middle of an argument was passed out on the floor.

"Well, the door was locked before we came in and I don't think anyone went into the bathroom before the guy that yelled," he said distantly (where'd he go, anyway? He was here when Mike 'looked', however that happened) "so it wasn't one of us, probably."

There was some commotion going on inside; the sounds of the distressed voices rang out from the broken front door. And still, Alex was outside, alone, and feeling as though she were supressing vomit.

Which she was. Her throw-up painted the grass, but the rain dilluted in into amateur artwork. Relief washed over just as the rain drops did, and she suddenly felt much better. The black guy came back outside. He looked...not quite frantic, but disgruntled anyway.

"So what's the 4-1-1? Anything worth my time?" Alex asked in response to his wave, waltzing over to where he was sitting. Her head was screwed on correctly once again.

Picking his head up out of his hands and rubbing his hair, he zoned back into the girl just as she was about to sit down.

"Huh? Oh, yeah sorry, I just kinda... drifted off"

He explained before responding to her question.

"Well I found the officers mightyena dead in the mens room just before I cussed Toby out, Grims, the white 'thug', passed out after he started spewing fire out his mouth, like literally, and Toby did some weird air thing. It was... intense to say the least"

Breaking the gaze with the woman whose name he still hadn't learned, he reached in his pocket to turn on his phone, just in case a certain convict was going to be getting some digits. As he waited for the ancient piece of crap flip phone to turn on, the one he had specifically to keep the police from monitoring his conversations, Chuck turned back to the girl, who, by the smell of her breath, had just spewed her breakfast on the lawn, to offer her a piece of gum.

"I can't take the suspense anymore, Hot Stuff, what's your name?"

Feeling his phone buzz with life, he found himself with 5 more messages from Ashely since he had turned it off. People are gaining superpowers, pokémon are being randomly murdered, and 10 convicts are left to attend to themselves and the only thing this chick can think about is why a man isn't texting her back after their intimate introduction. Psh, women.

Her eyebrows were so high they could've been strands of her hair, if they had matched.

"You can drop the sarcasm; I might be blond but I'm not that retarded." Actually, she was secretly quite intelligent. But that conflicted with her image, so shh. Obviously, no one had been spewing out fire, and the dead Mightyhena seemed quite unlikely as well. And the who the hell was Toby?

"So I'll make a deal with you. Tell me what happened, and if it's something more thrilling than the usual manly brawl, I'll give you my name." The rain was letting up, though they sky was still very depressing. Alex could still taste the barf in her mouth which usually meant that she had had a fun night, but apparently not always. She glanced over at her very straight forward acquaintance, who had his eyes glued to his cell phone and for the first time in...oh, probably a few hours she thought about Preston. That boy had tamed Alex's heart, and then ripped it out of her chest and stomped on it in front of the entire world. The day after her birthday and the crash, in the hospital. And now she was determined to let free and forget about love- it was lust's turn again. A good way to mask the hurt, is it not?

Seriously, do I have a way with words all of a sudden? Aaron questioned himself. First Toby, now Grims, he knew he could be persuasive, but he didn't understand what was going on. In fact, when he was going to respond to Grims' retort, he happened to finish his sentence with a flame-burp.

"Uhhh-" Aaron began to point out, but he was interrupted.

There was a commotion, and lots of it, first from the kitchen, then everyone was running to the bathroom. As he entered, he noticed Grims was leaking fire and Toby was trying to put them out, with air or something.

Confusing... Aaron thought. This couldn't have been from the lightning can it be? He then saw the dead pokemon laying there. He gave a soft chuckle, it was the Probation officer's pokemon. No doubt someone had killed it. What Aaron was wondering was who had done it. However, the current mood was one of hysteria.

As Aaron approached the group, he heard Will.

"What! Am I invisible?!?!" He shouted. "DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT IM HERE! SOMETHING IS HAPPENING, AND NO ONE WILL TELL ME!"

"It's okay buddy," Aaron said, putting his arm perhaps too sensually around Will's waist as he spoke, looking him in the eyes. "I'll take care of it." As he said that, he felt the familiar jolt again. He let go of Will though, and pushed aside the others.

"Shows over folks." Seemingly ignoring the conspiracies and deliberations on what had occurred. He was after all, no stranger to this kind of mess, and he knew how to fix it. He sent out his Beheeyem, "Psycho cut that useless thing will you?" He said simply.

At once the Beheeyem's eyes glowed and it began generating several purple coloured psychic knives which now started to cut up the dead carcass with sickening ease. Especially since the dead pokemon was not putting up a defense.

Aaron spoke aloud, "If someone had a pokemon with fire abilities, we can dispose of the evidence much more quickly." Though his eyes darted to the unconscious Grims. He reabsorbed his pokemon without much care after it was done, and backed away from the pathetic group huddle that was forming on the scene, ignoring their respective responses or reactions to what he had just done.

"You're welcome," Aaron said simply when no response was made.

He went back to Will again, and gave a feigned smile.

Grims awoke with a dull ache in his head. What happened...Then it all came back to him: His little discussion with Aaron, discovering the dead Mightyena, and then his sudden flaming convulsion. Grims found himself on the floor and slowly rose to his feet. He looked around at everyone with glassy eyes, "Um, sorry about that..." He couldn't really think of anything else to say.

Grims gave a quick glance in Toby's direction and attempted a smile, which ended up looking like a half-hearted smirk, "I guess I should thank you. If it weren't for that gust of wind, this whole building, along with myself, would have probably been burned to a crisp." It wasn't something he wanted to do, but Grims figured that it'd be in his best interested to have as many freaks in his side than against him...especially that Aaron guy.

"We're... getting rid of it? I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure the probation officer's gonna be mad when she finds out that her Pokémon is dead. And all of that rage is going to be directed towards us. I have a fire type, but why doesn't pretty boy here just do it with his puke?" Toby kicked the unconcious Grims in the arm. Useless, who falls comatose when the action starts?

"Where is she anyways? That harpie should have been here by now," Toby looked back at the Mightyena. Disgusting. He noticed a stir as Grims woke up. Finally.

"I guess I should thank you. If it weren't for that gust of wind, this whole building, along with myself, would have probably been burned to a crisp," Grims said. Apology? What? Whatever.

"Uh, yeah. I can't really explain that. But seriously, man, what's with the fire? What's with all of us?"

Chuck popped the gum in his own mouth as the chick accused him of lying about Grims, Toby, and the mightyena.

"How about we make a deal" he said, knowing that he was 100% right, "You go check for yourself, and if I'm not lying, I get your name and number?"

Making a face that dared her to go in and see the gruesome sight, while simultaneously covering up the gaping hole in his shirt, so she wouldn't decline the bet.

Grims rubbed the back of his head, a habit accounted to when he's trying to think. "I'm not entirely sure...But, have any of you noticed that all of this started after that weird lightning storm? I mean, before that, I couldn't light a fire without a match or a lighter. Now, all I gotta do is," Grims snapped his fingers and, as he expected, a spark flew up and his finger looked like its own personal lighter, "and I make fire. Something weird is going on..."

He shook his finger a bit and the fire extinguished. Grims did a quick once-over of himself and noticed two things: He was still wearing a ripped open shirt, and somehow, his boxers had gone missing, revealing a bit more of his lower waist than he was comfortable with in public. Grims blushed deeply and made note of the extreme warmth in his face, "Uhh, did someone attempt to strip me while I was passed out?" He checked around the immediate area before stating, "My boxers are missing."
