So I completed another part of my Blue Mono-Color last Friday, with Alpha Sapphire. Guess i'll do a rundown of the important fights.

Alpha Sapphire Blue Mono-Color - Full Summary

Spoiler:

Roxanne: Geodude I got Sturdy out of with Megaphone (Whismur) before she scored a critical hit Rock Tomb like a jerk, then Kippy (Mudkip) finished her off. Nosepass scored another critical hit, but I killed her in four hits with Water Gun, one after she healed and the last one with Torrent undergo.

Brawly: Bluejay (Taillow) beat him after I had Megaphone half his Machop's Defense with Screech. Makuhita only used Bulk Up but I was still able to 2HKO him.

Wattson: I tried to give the rest of the team some effort, like using Plant Derp (Oddish), and Megaphone who had evolved into Loudred, but it did come to Kippy to win me the fight.

Flannery: Stinger (Tentacool) did most of the work with this fight, but Megaphone took care of her first one. For kicks, her Numel burned Bluejay, who had evolved into a Swallow, allowing me to finish her with Wing Attack.

Norman: This was a VERY long fight, around 18 minutes. I managed to get Plant Derp to put his Slaking to sleep because he was being dumb and using Yawn, and I got in two layers of Toxic Spikes with Stinger. At one point when he was asleep, I was able to have Megaphone lower his Speed with Bulldoze, and once he was below half I used Overheat and beat that after his Special Defense was halved from Acid Spray. Vigoroth and his second Slaking also fell after a while.

Winona: Her first few weren't too tough, but then we came to Altaria, who got to +6 with Cotton Guard and stalled Whirlpool (Azumarill) out of Play Roughs, so once that was down I had to go to Stinger (who had evolved into Tentacruel) and cut her Special Defense some, and when I was at 60% of my health, I scored a critical hit with Acid Spray while she had -4. Pelipper fell shortly after.

Tate and Liza: Buster (Heracross) OHKO'ed Solrock with Megahorn and Whirlpool OHKO'ed Lunatone with Aqua Tail after it used Light Screen. The fight was over in one turn.

Final battle against Archie: Mightyena was OHKO'ed by Megaphone's Boomburst, Muk was OHKO'ed by Kippy's Earthquake, and Crobat 2HKO'ed Stinger with Acrobatics but only used Mean Look against Megaphone at first, then scored a critical hit Acrobatics but I still beat that. Mega Sharpedo beat Megaphone, but I had Buster survive a Crunch and slam him with Megahorn.

Primal Kyogre: After a pathetic attempt at attacking it with Stinger, it killed both that and Kippy, before using Aqua Ring against Serenade, which allowed me to Mega Evolve and use Dragon Dance, then beat it with a massively beefed up Giga Impact.

Wallace: Whirlpool actually darn near swept his entire team thanks to some questionable moves from him and a few misses, and Power-Up Punch for me, but his Milotic finished that off. When I came to that, Megaphone lowered his Speed with Bulldoze and did a nice chunk with Return, allowing Kippy to win me the fight.

Wally: While most of his team was easy, when we came to Mega Gallade I had Buster do over half his health with Megahorn, but he used Swords Dance, and proceeded to OHKO that, Whirlpool and Kippy without critical hits, so I went to Serenade and Mega Evolved, and he used Close Combat but I lived with 5 HP, allowing me to finish him with Return. (I had that and Stinger left.)

Sidney: Nothing significant here. I had plenty of coverage, so he was easy. Next!

Phoebe: Her first Dusclops killed itself with Curse after Kippy knocked it below half with a Soft Sand boosted Earthquake, and Whirlpool OHKO'ed the Sableye with Play Rough. Dusknoir was taken down after a Crunch from Megaphone did less than half, and Acid Spray from Stinger halved her Special Defense but allowed me to finish her with Scald. Her two Banette were nothing significant.

Glacia: Her first Glalie was taken down by Kippy thanks to my lowering her Speed and then some Rock Slide and Earthquake (the latter of which was barely a 2HKO with the Soft Sand after she healed… a -Attack nature did no favors). I bagged Serenade against her first Froslass, which I eventually beat with Megaphone and Whirlpool. But Walrein froze Whirlpool solid and then hit with Sheer Cold, and that was when I decided to bring in Buster and Mega Evolve into Mega Heracross, which ripped her apart with Close Combat. Her second Froslass I was able to beat with Kippy thanks to Bulldoze managing to hit through hail, and her second Glalie was beaten with Stinger.

Drake: He wasn't much to concern myself with, given I had a Mega Altaria, Exploud and Swampert with Ice Beam, and Azumarill with Play Rough.

Champion Steven: Skarmory used Steel Wing against Megaphone before I cut his Speed with Rock Tomb, but my Fire Blast didn't quite kill him and he used Toxic. He healed, but I still 2HKO'ed him with Boomburst followed by another Fire Blast.
Aggron took well over half from my Earthquake as he missed with Iron Tail, but then he switched into Claydol and caused my next attack to fail, and I succumbed to Toxic. I went to Whirlpool, and he only used Light Screen followed by Earth Power, so I 2HKO'ed him with Waterfall.
Cradily was next, and I switched over to Serenade only to immediately be met with Confuse Ray. I couldn't even land a hit on him, and he got the boost from Ancient Power.

I was literally about to cry when Serenade fainted. I thought, no, this isn't happening. I decided, that's it, this is personal now. I went to Buster, and Mega Evolved, but he barely lived my Megahorn and used Sludge Bomb, which poisoned me. He healed, and I used Bulldoze to get rid of the speed boost, before going for Close Combat, which finished that off.
Next was Aggron again, who I finished off with Brick Break.
Armaldo took over half from Close Combat before he beat me with Crush Claw, but Stinger finished that.
Mega Metagross was last, and OHKO'ed Stinger with Zen Headbutt after my Scald did a bit over a quarter of his health. He KO'ed Whirlpool with Giga Impact, but I went from there to Kippy and used Bulldoze to lower his Speed while he recharged. He was still faster, but he used Giga Impact again, which I managed to live with over 1/5 my health and lower his Speed with Bulldoze, then win the battle with one more Earthquake.

As for the last fight with Brendan, I don't really have much to say about that; Megaphone beat most of his team but I was able to have Buster beat his Mega Sceptile, even without Mega Evolving.

Update on Ultimate Purple Monocolor Challenge.

Final Update (#5) on HeartGold.

• I don't really remember much about the Kanto Gym Leaders, but they weren't that hard to beat.
• I beat the upgraded Elite Four a few times to train my team before rematching Sabrina like 30 times.
• Used Rare Candies to get everyone to L75, then faced off against Red.

Hey, long time no see! I've missed posting here. I decided to continue my monocolor runs on gen 6, so this will be my first update for Red on Y! Looking at my previous runs here, there are some I'd like to try my hand at again, especially yellow on HGSS, as I couldn't beat Lance the first time around. I might come around to doing that if I get tired of playing Y over and over.

Also, I'm playing in French in order to improve in that language. Hope it's ok.

♦ Started off by picking the female character and naming her Rougela. I then did all that stuff in the beginning, and picked Fennekin as my starter. Named him Flamschazam.
♦ I went to Santalune City, where Flamschazam took care of Viola.
♦ After a quick stop and picking up Charmander in Lumiose, I continued to Camphrier Town. I caught a Scraggy on the way, named Salapants.
♦ Going to the Parfum Palace, I obtained my third member, Vilestria the Oddish.
♦ Chased the Furfrou and defeated Snorlax, then went through the Connecting Cave to Ambrette Town.
♦ Rode a Rhyhorn to the Glittering Cave, where I beat up some Flare grunts and got the Jaw Fossil, which I later resurrected to a Tyrunt. Named it Dino Might.
♦ Continued all the way to Cyllage City, where I took on the gym using Salapants. It was a close call against Grant, but I managed to pull it off.
♦ Walked to Geosenge Town and then Shalour City. In Shalour, I did the whole mega evolution tower thing and then battled Korrina. Her Hawlucha was scary with Hone Claws and Flying Press, but it eventually worked out.
♦ I dodged most of the trainers on Route 12 in order to reach Coumarine City, where I picked up the Good Rod. I used that to fish up my 5th member, Kaliente the Remoraid.
♦ Trained him up and then battled my rival outside the gym. My team has a rather big weakness to Meowstic (since it has Disarming Voice), but we pulled through.
♦ Flamschazam had just become a Delphox, so Ramos was quite an easy battle.
♦ Went south to the Power Plant, where I beat up Team Flare.
♦ Made my way to Lumiose and challenged the gym, mainly using Salapants and Vilestria. Clemont required a team effort, but Salapants evolving just before helped quite a bit.
♦ Currently saved in Lumiose.

Also, is the Exp. Share also banned when training? I've noticed that lag behind quite often since I don't have it on, but it would make grinding a lot easier if it was allowed.

Currently banned, but make your case via PM as there haven't been very many Gen 6 challengers so far. The monotype challenge did unban it I believe so I might be convinced to do so as well.

So every time I try to go back to my Blue HeartGold run (usually about once a month or so) I get put off by it. I think it's because I'm not that proud of my team. So I'm restarting my Purple Ultimate! I was on Gen IV but I lost my save from 2 years ago, so I started fresh.

Been playing for a few hours, Brown was probably an easy colour to pick. Team having just beaten Pokemon Tower:

Kadabra / Fearow / Primeape / Dugtrio / Raticate. Need a water-type however my only option is Staryu and that sucks!!! Suspect I will struggle vs Sabrina and Koga, Growlithe is an option but has a crappy moveset. Thoughts for 6th Pokemon???

***UPDATE***
Owned both Koga and Sabrina, turned over Silph Co. with ease. Toyed with Hitmonchan for a bit but decided not worth the grinding. Just left Cinnabar Mansion, but under-levelled, had to use Horsea as a Surf-slave but now I've acquired Kabuto I'm gonna have to grind for Blaine. (Didn't realise Staryu was LG exclusive).
