Chuunin Exam Qualifiers Underway!

The Story

Ninjas are ranked according to a rigid sense of hierarchy. You have your Academy Students who are basically kids, learning the ropes and basics of the ninja way. You have the genin, young ninjas fresh out from the Academy who are assigned to a team and do low-class missions for the City. You then have the chuunin, the middle class ninjas who are qualified to lead missions. Then the jonin, who are specialized ninjas qualified to lead as military captains. Then you have the kage, the individual chosen to lead the village.

Now, in order to advance a rank, you are to undertake a special exam. There is an upcoming Chuunin Advancement Exam so the genins are naturally excited and is hoping to be nominated to participate in the exam. Their teachers, jonin level ninjas, are to check whether they are qualified or not. Four jonins got together in a big qualifier exam for their teams to see which individuals are qualified to participate.

However, there is also the threat of the Root, a highly secretive and underground sect of military ninjas in the village. They handle the covert missions and dirty-tactics by the village. Being recruited to the Root is a lifetime duty and is considered an honor.

Will you be able to defeat your teachers and earn your spot in the Chuunin exam? Or will the Root get to you first and recruit (or rec-Root) you to their ranks? Let's start the training and we will see.

How This Works

This is a standard mafia game with three factions. You have the genin which serves as the "innocents" or the "uninformed majority." They will win if they managed to eliminate all the members of the jonin, which serves as the mafia faction. They are the "informed minority" and their only goal is to defeat the genin by eliminating them and becoming the majority faction. The jonin have access to their own discord chat where only they and the GM can be members.

The third faction is the Root, which will serve as the "cult." The faction starts off with one member and, each night, they can recruit another player. They win if they outnumber all the other factions or if they are the only faction left alive.

The game will operate in two phases. During the Night Phase, the thread is considered lock and no-one can post in the general game thread. Players can send in their Night Actions to me via PM/Discord. The jonin can talk/discuss on their Discord Chat and submit a name they want to kill. The Night Phase will last for at least 24 hours, unless otherwise stated. After 24 hours, the Day Phase will begin. A Phase Post will be posted summarizing everything that happened during the Night Phase. Players can now post on the general game thread and discuss on who to lynch. Votes will be tallied and the person with the most votes will be lynched and considered dead. If there are tied votes, RNG will be used to decide who is lynched. Day Phase is 48 hours long, unless otherwise stated.

The Genin

You are the genin and the future of Konohagakure. Your job is to defeat all the jonin present and earn your right to participate in the Chuunin Exam.

Uzumaki Naruto: KAGEBUNSHIN NO JUTSU
Using Shadow Clones, you have a 100% chance of evading the first action towards you, including a lynch. All subsequent night actions has a subsequent evasion chance of 20%.

Haruno Sakura: SHOSEN JUTSU
Your expertise in healing jutsu allows you to heal a player every night.

Uchiha Sasuke: SHARINGAN
Each night, your illusory powers can nullify the night actions of one person. That person cannot be targeted by any night action. If you targeted a jonin, there's a 25% chance of nullifying the mafia kill.

Rock Lee: EYEBROW CONNECTION
As long as you are alive, Might Guy's role is invalid.

Hyuuga Neji: GENTLE FIST
Once in the game, you can choose to use your technique during the day to kill another person. You will be revealed upon using this.

Tenten: FUINJUTSU
Each night, you can give a shuriken or a flak jacket to a player. The Shuriken can be used to kill once. The flak jacket allows the player to survive a kill.

Nara Shikamaru: SHADOW BINDING JUTSU
Disables a player's role during the next night. Players will be notified if they are disabled.

Akamichi Choji: HUMAN BULLET TANK
Each night, you can choose to run down a player, thereby killing that player.

Yamanaka Ino: MIND BODY SWITCH TECHNIQUE
Each night, you can switch yourself with another person. All night actions targeted towards you will be targeted towards the person you chose and vice versa,

Hyuuga Hinata: BYAKUGAN
Once per night, you can check the alignment of a player.

Aburame Shino: INSECT CLONE TECHNIQUE
Each night, you can choose another player. You will see who that player visits.

Inuzuka Kiba: DEFENSIVE MARKING
Each night, you can choose another player. You will see who visits that player

The Jonin

You are the jonin and your main job is to weed out the incompetent genin so you will know who to recommended for the testing. However, you believe that this is all formality as you see the genin in front of you still unfit for the testing. You win if you manage to eliminate all of them or if the number is tied.

Hatake Kakashi: COPY NINJA
Once per game, you copy a player's role. You cannot copy a dead player's role. Will be revealed as that role upon death.

Might Guy: STRONG FIST
Once per game, can ensure a mafia kill, as long as Rock Lee is no longer around.

Sarutobi Asuma: KING
Once per game, you can sacrifice yourself on a lynch. All votes will be given to you, regardless of how the players voted.

Yuhi Kurenai: DEMONIC ILLUSION
Each night you can choose to fabricate a shuriken or a flak jacket. However, the shuriken has poison and will kill the user, while flak jacket is of poor quality, it won't be able to save anyone from anything.

The Root

You directly serve under the Hokage and handles the covert missions needed to protect your village.

Danzo: RecROOT
Each night, you can choose another player to recruit to the Root. That player will have their alignment and win conditions changed. If you die, all ROOT members die.

The Rules

Follow all PC-wide rules.
Votes must be formatted as [Lynch] Player. Failure to do so may result in your vote not being counted. Missing two votes in a row gets the boot. A replacement will be given and will take over the same role. However, previous night actions will not be part of the turn-over.
Keep all game discussions in the thread or in the Discord Chat
Upon death, you can only post one death-post. Said post cannot contain any information regarding the game.
Send your Night Actions, using the proper format, to me on PM or Discord.
You may not abstain. Abstaining is considered as missing a vote. Vote-changing is okay. In case of tied posts, RNG will be used.
No posts during Night Phase, including death posts.
