Yeah, I just saw that but it's not quite as sophisticated as the Wii controller, time for explaining:

The PS3 controller can only sense 'movement' as in it only has accelerometers but it can't sense it's psition in 3D space hence why they need no sensors. The Wii controller on the other hand does sense it's position in 3D space so it knows where it's at, here is an example:

If you want to aim in a FPS game with the PS3 controller you still have to aim with the analog stick but on the Wii all you have to do is point. It's not exactly like a Wii controller but I'm still pissed!!

$500 for a PS3 with 20GB HDD
$600 for a PS3 with 60GB HDD

Update: Wait I don't know if my example is legitimate or not but I think it's right, I'll think it over though and fix if needed. OK I researched real quick and my example is right.

I posted a thread about it in OG.
You should pop over there and make Sony look bad Samurai X. I'm not kidding, you know how to put that sort of stuff out there.

Like I said on MSN, I'm totally pissed at Sony ATM. They did it again, they ripped over something from Nintendo AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as I said on MSN...
"Andy: E3 06!!! FF XIII!!!!! says:
I'm still thinking the Wii will have the style better then the PS3.
From what I can get you'll have a normal PS2 controller with the Wii style put in it. If so then it should take some of the punch out of it. Because who would want to play an FPS with a PS2 controller (playing it Wii style). On top of that it might just be for flying games and that sort of stuff.
"

I'm sitting here mad at Sony yet I still think the Wii will make it (yes this new controller will take some thunder out of the Wii, but I don't think it'll be much). I don't think all the third part FPS game makers will run off to Sony and go "Let us make a game for your new system, because that Wii is not even close to how good the PS3 is".
We'll see how it turns out, and since the PS3 holds a 500-600 dollar price tag I think that'll turn away some people (I know my parents won't buy my brother a 400 dollar 360 and a month later buy me a 500-600 dollar PS3). I knew it was going to be up there and the price range is around what I guessed.

They might as well call it the PSThwii.....XD

I agree with you Arcanine, this will steal some thunder from Nintendo but I still think the Wii controller is far more superior and let me tell you this, this PS3 controller is the real "gimmick". This will only be good for flying and racing games while the Wii controller will be better for that and other type of games that require a known position in 3D space like I said in the OG thread.

Ok now that I think about it (and after reading your posts). I'll say that the controller is not a WiiRemote rip off. It's a very bad WiiRemote rip off, and is just a flat out joke to say "We got it too".
It is a sorry gimmick on Sony's part.
We all knew this was going to happen when the remote first came out. Go back in the posts of this thread when the TGS started. Someone posted on Sony saying "We're going to change our controller", and we all said that it'll have the stuff the Wii remote has. And sure enough it's got more or less the same thing. What I wonder is, is this new controller going to hurt or help Sony? Are they yet again going to get looked at as a Nintendo rip off?

Oh and you guys will love this (I got it off of a thread on GS).

Yeah I do love that pic, it's true and it's a shame. Here is something that someone said on a Joystiq post:

The Sony PS3 - Now with Wiimote and Xbox Live!

I think you may have noticed already but I'm really mad at this but once people find out how truly "gimmicky" this really is compared to the Wiimote other people will be pissed. I know Sony is rich but this is just more waste of money and even more money they will lose on the PS3. I mean, if the Wii gets the hype and if MS takes a risk and lowers the price of the 360 before PS3 comes out.....it might be over for the PS3......even though they're Sony the only company in the world that could lose that much money is MS and Sony is not MS. The only thing that's going to save them is the Playstation name...

I wonder if MS feels left out right now?

I would be if I were them. The whole button in the middle of the controller online thing was taken from them as well as their online style. But the Wii style shadowed Microsoft's thing. But there's a difference in MS' and Nintendo's. MS done has their system out, Nintendo's isn't. Just you wait, the PS3 will come out a week before the Wii and they'll go "the first system on the market with motion sensitive controller technology".

Well that makes me feel better. Nintendo still has the upper hand on the style of the controller.
Kirby's Tilt 'n Tumble is the best example (the one you used in the other thread) of the PS3's controller.
I still can't stand Sony for taking the idea (I knew they were going to do it, but it still ticks me off).

Well little under 13 hours till Nintendo drops the bar and hopefully sends Sony down the river.

I can't wait for that, unfortunately I'll be at school so I'l be missing the Live show but I will be back for the downloadable version.

Anyways, more mistakes from Sony, it's starting to look bad for them. The cheaper unit will not have HDMI Out, wi-fi, or memory slots. The controller for the cheaper unit will also be missing rumble functionality.

See for yourself!

Yea I saw that on GS. They are making almost everyone go out and buy the 600 dollar set. I really is looking bad for them, Wii is Wi-Fi right out of the box, Sony on the other hand is only Wi-Fi if you dish out more money. And the controller is a joke, I mean no rumble pack in it? Come on.

Yeah, twice the price of a Wii with actually less features than the Wii besides HD, that's not very smart so basically if you want a real deal PS3 you have to spend:

$600 for PS3
$60+ for a game
taxes

That's like $700 for a PS3 and one game!

With no wi-fi in the core PS3 it won't be able to communicate with the PSP wirelessly and with no memory card slots you can't exchange data through the memory stick either.

Without HDMI it won't be able to play blu-ray movies either, I'm not sure about this one though, I heard it from some one else.

I love this picture!!!

What you said is great right there. If Nintendo could cut down Sony that would be what they should say. Twice the price of the Wii yet can do less.
And yea it's crazy. Throw in another controller (I got a brother so another one is needed), a remote, a few more games, and you're topping out at 1K.

Well, the PS3 has tons of USB ports so that's how it'll connect with the PSP (but the DS and Wii will be totally wireless when playing and connecting).

And I don't know about that, I'm not sure myself. But them not playing Blu-Ray movies would really really really hurt them. That's like the PS2 coming out and it not playing DVD movies (to me it'll play the Blu-Ray movies).

It's funny yet soooooo ture.
How many here will know who "Ken Kutaragi" is if I said his name? But if I said "Satoru Iwata" or "Shigeru Miyamoto" or "Reggie Fils-Aime" you'll know who they are.

Edit: If you done posted this then sorry, I'm half asleep so I don't remember if you did or not.
I think it was said that the 500 dollar system won't have a rumble pack. It should be noted that no PS3 controller will have one (not even the 600 dollar one).

People, why are we even worrying? What person will buy a system from a company that takes OUT features for a $499 Product!

I guess Sony doesn't realize with record high gas prices, people don't have that kind of money to buy their product. Especially when games will be $60-$70 dollars aswell.

I don't think Wii will have rumble built in, seeing as though it would mess up the game. Maybe the SHELL has rumble built in, but for the main remote than no.

*Puts up his hand* I'm buying the PS3. And I bet you will too once you find out KH3 will be on it. XD
I'm going to have to get the 600 dollar one.

No, I hadn't posted that neither controller will have rumble, that's interesting. They said that it interfered with the sensors, wouldn't that be the case for the Wiimote too? But I thought I heard some one say that the Wiimote had force feedback....

I can't wait until Nintendo's conference, almost.......there.....
You and Robo think alike. This happened no more then 2 mins ago. XD

Andy: Sony did it again!!! They took the Wii style of the controller. <_< says:
Wii will have a rumble pack. O_o
Morkula says:
Don't think so. Not if it interferes with the gyroscopes. o_O;
Andy: Sony did it again!!! They took the Wii style of the controller. <_< says:
since when was Sony smart on that kind of stuff? XD
Morkula says:
I want rumble. No rumble, no buy. >>

I'll put it this way. Last year at teh TGS the controller had rumble on the demos.

I bet you a 20 dollar bill it'll have the rumble pack.

I don't want to lose 20 dollars....besides, I think it's going to have rumble too because I heard it somewhere....they definetely said force feedback of some kind...

I will be buying the PS3 too because I'm a gamer and the PS3 will have games......simple as that but I still think the whole "lets copy Nintendo" thing was a low blow.

Anyways to make this post somewhat better I'll post some reasons on why Nintendo will have rumble:

They spent millions of dollars in R&D to get the whole Wii-mote thing right so I'm guessing they know how to include rumble. Also, when they bought the company that specialized in gyros, motion sensing, and 3D space. They bought that company because they were very knowledgable on those things so, yeah, I think they will include rumble. They know the technology well, well enough to include rumble.

Rumble is not neccessary, and I don't see why anyone would even miss it ;P

*is buying 600 one too*... for Ratchet and Clank XD (and KH3 XD)

and My SingStar or w/e OMG I WANT IT wiilly bad!

They need it, they really need it. Even more so for FPS games.
Ok picture yourself playing an WWII FPS and you're trying to sniper someone. Bombs going off around you, bullets bouncing around and hitting things close to you. Looks like the bombs and stuff going off would make some shockwaves and vibrations. Having the controller moving around a little when a bomb goes off makes it more real (how can you sit there and have a steady shot when bombs are going off around you?).

Or lets say a baseball game, you swing the bat and you hit the ball. Do you want to feel something when you hit the ball?
To me the remote is to make things more real, to put you there in the game. Having no rumble kind of takes away from it.

I bought a PS2 mainly because I wanted a DVD player. And I'm glad I got it. I got a PSP because I wanted it, and that was a stupid move.
We're getting a 360 because we want all three systems (stupid reasons I know), we're getting a PS3 because of the games, and we're getting a Wii because of the games. There's a few games I'd love to play on the 360. And there's a good many games I can't wait for on the PS3, likewise for the Wii. It all comes down to games.

If anyone can do it then the people working at Nintendo can. They wouldn't put in all this new stuff without at least having some of the old.

It's there, we all got used to it. Removing it would be like removing apart of a game. XD
On top of that I done said reasons up there. XD
