NFC - Nintendo Fan Club

So how are you guys handling this drought of Wii games? I am pretty bored actually so I just decided to start a '100%' file in Twilight Princess after many speed run files. Other than that I'm playing some DS games. I'm gonna rent Sonic too, maybe it will be better than other 3-D efforts recently.

So, what would you like to see on the Wii?

I think that the games will eventually come so what I want right now is new content on the VC.
 
I'd just like to see some Wii games on sale... All I've got is Wii Sports (gets kind of old) and TP.
 
yeah, i had pre-ordered Sonic and Mario Party 8 a couple weeks ago, so i should get sonic sometime this week and Mario Party a few weeks later so i'm not really feeling a drought =)

Oh it's a drought alright. While I can see why you wouldn't think so, there is one. Just because we have some games coming our way doesn't mean they're going to be great or even good. When I say drought I mean to say that there is not really any great, or really anticipated, games coming out for a while. Even though SSX and Sonic look promising you have to realize that they're probably not going to be outstanding. It would be great if they were though. So basically, where are the AAA games?
 
Next Thursday I am free from university applications and portfolios. Yay! Which means I don't have to worry about distractions. So, I'm going to splurge.

Planning on picking up Wii Play and Smooth Moves. Any other suggestions? DS or Wii.

Probably going to pick up Sonic a few days afterwards. Gift for my brother's birthday.

Well, I'd suggest that you only buy Wii Play if you want a controller. The game itself isn't worth $50, IMO. I bought it, partially for the game and partially for the controller. The game is pretty much a spiffy tutorial for using the Wii remote. I guess I'll rate the different games...

Shooting Gallery

My favorite of the games. It's pretty fun and a lot more fun if played with someone else. My only complaint is that it is fairly easy to get a gold medal in.

Mind Mii

This one starts out easy, but gets hard. It's one of my favorites because they find ways to make it more challenging as you progress through the levels

Table tennis (Ping-Pong)

Pretty much the same thing all the way through. It's pretty easy, all though since it speeds up as it goes further, it can get really hard towards the end.

Pose Mii

Uh... most certainly the most imaginative of the games, though the hardest IMO. It's confusing (or at least to me) on how to remember the order the poses go in.

Laser Hockey

This one is really only fun if played with someone else. It's pretty much a slower moving Pong.

Billiards

All right, let me put it this way. If you've never played actually pool or billiards, then it should be awesome. But if you have, you'll probably be frustrated with the way it works. But it can be fun.

Fishing

Pretty fun, no notable flaws, except that you shouldn't raise your remote to high, or it might mess up your control.

Cow Racing

One of the more imaginative ones, you race a cow and knock over scare crows. I thought it was fun by myself, but when I played it with someone else it turned out to be lots of laughs.

Tanks

It's tanks, what can I say? It's pretty fun, and no real flaws except when you die, you might get tired of working back to where you were.


There, I did it. I hope that helps some when you make your decision.
 
I know Wii Play is sub-par. I've been holding off on getting an extra remote just for that game though (it is a bargain!). I still only have one remote since the console was released.
 
I thought about getting Wii Play, but I really don't need another remote right now, and everyone says it's mediocre unless you need another controller. So I'll probably hold off on getting it.

My next Wii game will probably be either Trauma Center or maybe Sonic. Heck, I might even wait until Super Paper Mario.

Exactly my point. There were too many droughts on the Gamecube for it to succeed and I don't want that happening with the Wii. Even though there is a drought right now I think it's going to be a lot like the DS launch where we had a significant period of drought after launch but around fall of that year it all started coming together. That's what I see when I look at the Wii and the drought we're having and then I look at the list of titles coming out later in 07. Hopefully the Wii doesn't get as many droughts as the Gamecube did.

I don't know what my next Wii game is going to be. It's probably going to be Super Paper Mario though. I already pre-ordered all the big 1st party games coming out this year. Anyways, here is a list of titles coming out from Nintendo in 07 for the Wii, I don't know if it's calendar 07 or fiscal 07.

I'm curious to see if Wii Music will come with a wiimote like Wii Play. Can there really be that much to do in it?

Anyway, does anyone use a Linksys WRT54G router for their Wii? If so, how does it work? It's recommended on the Nintendo Wi-Fi site but I'd like to hear some other opinions.
 
Well, Trikip, we use a NetGear rouder for our internet (6 computers), and for my Wii (and a xBox 360). It works just fine, so if your Linksys doesn't work, I'd reccomend going with NetGear.

Triforce- Alright, I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to order one from Amazon marketplace with just the game or anything...
 
I don't actually have it yet. I was just thinking about buying it but I'll look into NetGear's routers.

They're still gunna be a few more games, like Radio Allergy.

Theres a new dreamcast game coming out in Japan, talk about a revival XD

I been playing FFXII too much. XD

I think my next Wii game will likely be WarioWare (it'll likely be sometime before I get it). But that doesn't stop me from getting some VC games (which is pretty much all the use I get out of my Wii right now. I know I got games like TP, Excite Truck, Rayman and others to play. But like I said, I've been playing FFXII lately).

So, has anyone got OoT for the Wii? It came out yesterday for NA, and a few days ago for Europe.

I said it once, and I'll say it again. I buy a game system to play games, not to listen to songs on, watch movies, surf the web and all that. So yea, if the Wii does gaming and does it right then most gamers will like the Wii.

*coughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcough* This is a nice one from someone we all here at the NFC like. His name is Phil Harrison, aka Philly Cheese Steak. The reason why we all like him so much is because we all get a good laugh out of him and his all of his PHD degrees in Sonyness.
Today we find good old Philly saying Nintendo should take a page right out of the Sony handbook (I am not friggen kidding...). Here is a quote "they (Nintendo) could have learned from us in terms of the high technology approach.", right on Philly. I think I said it best last night when I was talking to Robo about this, "if Nintendo wants to end up in a ditch a hair away from dead, then sure I totally agree with him.". What's funny is, yesterday I saw a PS3 at Wal-Mart, and shockingly no Wiis. And there was even this kid (I guess he was 15 or so) that walked in and his parents asked "Is this what you're looking for" (they pointed at the PS3) and he said "No, what I want is a Wii", that made me smile. So yes, Nintendo needs to listen to Sony and do things their way. Maybe then the playing field will be more level for Sony so they'll have a better chance.
(Keep in mind, all this is coming from a person who will soon own a PS3. I plan on getting one, even if I really really dislike Sony)

Trikip: WTF land indeed.... SNES outselling the PS3... In a way I feel bad for Sony, I mean getting beat out by a console that came out like 16 years ago. XD


It is sad to see the GC go. But it just wasn't Nintendo's shining moment. And if anything it hurt Nintendo. I mean it was purple, it had a handle (as much as I liked it, I pretty much went "WTF?" when I first saw it. It is pretty much useless), the discs weren't full size, and so on. On top of that, they didn't have a strong third-party backing like the PS2 and XBox. Sure we had games like Super Smash Bros, Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil 4, and some others. But it wasn't enough to keep it running and keep it going strong. I did have a good life, and Nintendo learned a thing or two from it. So, goodbye GameCube.
