So, if any of you have been to my wall recently, you guys may know that I have started tuning into this very anime recently, out of curiosity after Lilith mentioned that the quote from her sig was from it in a Skype conversation of mine with her a while back. (tl;dr: She got me into this thing.) To describe it in one word: FEELS.

I've only watched half of the episodes so far (up to 6 which I watched today), but as soon as I saw Hiyori save Yato from that bus in the first episode, I was pulled in. At times watching Yato's actions at first I thought, "What is wrong with this guy?!" until Episode 4 when I REALLY started to feel sorry for him. Then Episode 5 was sad (especially near the end), and 6 was quite intense.

No way will I have watched all five before tomorrow's season finale, but I do intend to watch the rest, definitely. Very well written stuff! EDIT: Also, I have not clicked on any spoilers in this thread yet, because I don't want anything ruined for me. (Kinda makes you think about why i'm even posting here then...)

So I just finished the last episode (the feelsss) and they'll be creating a second season hopefully right?

I say that just because when Nora picks up the mask she says that she'll go back home to Father, who we have absolutely no idea who that is. Plus, there are a lot of ways you could with the anime if that means meeting new gods and whatnot (I haven't read the manga so that's what I'm just assuming)

I'm also really happy that Rabo explained why he was going after Yato. The whole time they were fighting in the last episode I was like "Why are you doing this to such an awesome guy?!" But eh, hopefully Yato doesn't meet the same fate.

You're right elhereo, anime viewers don't know who Father is. If the producers weren't going to pursue a second season, there would be no need for Nora to mention that. So, I think it's quite the tease. Season two pleaaaaseeeee. They still have to explain Bishamon's grudge, Kazuma's debt, and who Father is, at the very least. Yet, the manga is nowhere near being finished, so 12 episodes seemed the most effective way to boost manga sales rather than 24 episodes. Hmph.

I love love love all of the cute Yato x Hiyori moments. :3

I liked the moment where Rabo basically named the Phantoms and controlled them, the dialog much like when Yato got Yuki for the first time. I then thought that was the reason why Rabo was fighting Yato, because their clashing seemed to be creating many storms of phantoms. More phantoms would benefit Rabo. I was like ohhhhh snappp... but then it kind of turned into something else. Rabo wanted to die his own way.

Second, I just realized something by that video you just linked. Where did Rabo get the mask? Obviously it was used to summon phantoms to him, and he said right before he summoned them that it was the time "my wish" came to pass. So, can we assume that Rabo was given the mask so he could get closer to his wish of dying? Even if the God who gave it to him didn't think that he would use the mask to gain powers to defeat Yato, he could have given it to Rabo thinking he would just be consumed by Phantoms and that would essentially kill him. However, if he did give the mask to Rabo as an alternative way in killing Yato, maybe there's an even bigger and badder God out there who's out to get rid of Yato.

Nope. The first volume is coming to the US this Fall, likely September 2nd.

Yeah, you're onto something. I thought it was an interesting subplot and it's a shame it wasn't explored more. We saw both Nora / Rabo clearly using masks to control phantom dogs / scorpions throughout episode 10, so I speculate that Rabo got the mask from

Nora or by association, from Father.

Nora made a statement like, aw this failed, better return to Father. She implies dad was aware of the plan and ought to be reported to; her allegiance is to him. He could have provided the masks. However, any of her various masters could have...

Like you said, even if Rabo failed in defeating Yato, he'd eventually crumble because of the consumed Phantoms. We've seen the consequences of someone being blighted. Rabo yearned to be exterminated by someone who knew him. That could be by Yato of course, or I speculate by someone who gave him the mask. It was a toxic weapon to give to Rabo, haha. His death was granted either way.

If gods grant the wishes of people, who grants the wishes of gods? :O

Well, that was just ♥♥♥♥ing perfect. I loved, LOVED the way they ended it. I was hesitant to check out the last episode before but the Rabo plotline wasn't bad. At all. Plus, DAT BUDGET. I mean, whoa. The fight looked spectacular. Definitely not disappointed at all. This is a solid 8.5 anime for me as of now. Would've been a 9 if it covered the bishamon arc as well.

Also, a question -

Rabo actually made a statement along the lines of "...when we lived" when talking about how the sky feels similar in the last episode. Why didn't he say 'when I lived'? Rabo's the one who was once a human but later turned into a god due to people's vile wishes. Not Yato. He wasn't ever a human, was he?

Or it could just mean in their heydays. Like, you know, when they were actually pretty damn popular and used by people. The time they "lived" could refer to when they were engaging in all that bloodshed. Either way, just something I noticed.

Personally, this anime, as a whole, is ok. Would I watch it again? No. Would I recommend it to others? Probably. I like the art, animation, and the concept. The humor is one of the reasons why I say it's just "ok." For me, the humor seems forced, and that annoys me to the point when it turns me off. I'm not saying it shouldn't have some humor, but it just seems like it was just put in just for the sake of having it. I think it's because there is no transition from being serious, or even semi-serious, to having something funny. Like I said, there were a few instances where the humor worked, and I think that the humor in the show really works in the OVA. Also, the whole 3 or 4 episodes focusing on Yukine went on too long.

I'd actually agree with that. I never laughed while watching this. The humor didn't work for me either. And yes, Yukine-deal did seem to drag on a tad more than it should've. Still, the characters, premise, great art and animation along with the soundtrack more than make up for those faults. It is an 8-8.5 for me. I might be biased though as I read the manga which is great and this adaptation actually managed to not ruin stuff! The filler working so well and not screwing up the end added to the score in my book.
