Question: Notification For Response To Specific Person

I was just curious, is there a system in place that if I wanted to get someone's attention in a thread in which it will notify them that I am talking directly to them? For instance if I say, quoted something that someone said, a notification would pop up for them that would bring them directly to the quoted response? I understand that technically you can use the "like" button to do that, but I'd rather use that for responses that I actually want to like.

If there isn't such a system in place, is it possible to implement something similar to this? I don't quite understand what the coding would be behind it, but it's something that I was wondering if it could possibly be looked into.

I believe quote notifications, and probably user notifications as well, are in the works of PC 2.0. Correct me if I'm wrong, though!

But in other words, both ideas for a quote notification system and a user notification sytem (i.e. @Terabyte) have been suggested several times in the past.

That was another thing I thought of, that it was possibly being implemented in the newest update. Speaking of which, I've heard a lot about PC 2.0 lately - has their been a date in which it will roll over to the site?

There's no confirmed date, sadly. Might take a while, but it will surely happen. I don't think it'll be a one, huge change, though; there's a list of features that are planned to be implemented, which are said to get here one-by-one. d: Each of these features would have a beta stage, according to Ausaudriel, where supporters and staff get to do some testing.

And I would also love to see this. I've seen it on one forum I'm at and it's pretty useful if people are actually quoting instead of just directing their post to someone.
