After all the crap i've been seeing this week that they have released, i'm happy to see Pyroar he has me excited again for X&Y

My soul died a little when I saw Chespin's and Fennekin's evolutions. My first thoughts were that Chespin's evo is a ridiculous ball-thing, and lost its cuteness completely, while Fennekin's is bizarre and too feminine-looking. After sleeping and letting it sink in, I still hate Chespin's, but Fennekin's is strangely growing on me. I do sincerely wish it stayed quadruped though. Froakie's is the only evo I liked from the start. It looks like a frog/gecko (kind of like Treecko) hybrid to me. I will wait to see the starters' final evos before choosing mine - it might be the first time I prefer the water starter!

Mega Mewtwo X is hideous, what a shame that it's an X-exclusive, since that's the version I'm getting. I 100% prefer Mega Mewtwo Y. I also hate both mega form's feet - X's looks like frog feet, and Y's looks like eggplants or sausages. Bleh.

I really like Nyaonikusu, except for the way the fur swirls in front of the mouth on the white one. :/ I REALLY hope the english name isn't Meowstick, I think that's an awful name (and we already have Meowth and Glameow, can't they come up with something a little more creative? Though I guess I shouldn't be one to talk, as I have a very hard time coming up with names for things...)

Amarusu reminds me of My Little Pony. :P It is cute though. Mega Garchomp is scary (for a Pokemon). Everyone seems to really like Pyroar, but I don't. I don't like Litleo either though, so no loss there.

I felt the same way about Fennekin's evolution being too feminine and wishing it was a quadruped. Because Fennekin learns Glow Punch, I was ready for it to become bipedal. And although I personally like to think of Fennekin as a feminine pokemon, unless if the gender ratio reflects it as mostly female, I think this is one of those rare cases where there should be gender differences for a starter. (For instance, the fur could point down so it doesn't resemble a dress.)

Froakie's evo is the one I liked from the start, too. I want to see all their final evolutions.

What's so bad about having a "too feminine" fire starter? the most recent starters seemed "too masculine" but I didn't hear any complaints, double standard much? Personally I'm glad we got a more feminine looking fire starter as it breaks the mold.

I liked how they changed things up this gen, not only the first non-reptilian Grass starter but finally a feminine-looking Fire starter. Froakie's line still sorta continues the semi-aquatic animals for the Water-type though. In fact Kalos is the first region with starters that aren't reptilian too.

But still, feminine starters can never beat the Ben Franklin frog.

Yeah, each generation until this one had at least one reptile. Gen 1 had 3...Charizard though was the last (and only) fire reptile (after we had mammal, Bird, mammal, mammal, and again mammal...well mammals are warm blooded...)
Feraligatr was the last water reptile (after we had fish?, bird, mammal, and now amphibian. Water is the most diverse!). And Serperior was the most recent in repitilian grass starters...so Chespin's a good mold breaker too! Hopefully it's final evolution won't be a reptile/dinosaur like some hope...

I think a feminine starter is fine... except that 75 percent of them are male. They could change the ratio, but we all know they'll keep it a high male ratio so they can be rare.

(by the way, I think Superior and Oshawott are pretty feminine)

Edit: crazy idea that I can guarantee won't happen: final evolutions of the starters looking different. Or just be completely different pokemon.

I wonder what the starter's evolutions names will be...maybe Wilfox (wild fire and fox, or even better Will-o-wisp and Fox) for Fennekin?

Yeah, really. When are they gonna update us with the English names of the evolutions?

Um, how so? I don't think Serperior really looks that feminine and Oshawott is not at all. Its just cutsie. That's not oddly feminine. Heck, its not even that different than any other starter that's come before it.

Thus far Meganium has been our most feminine looking starter. Serperior looks androgynous.

They should update the site in two days (the 14th) so it'll be awile. Thats gives us today and tomorrow to speculate. Froakie's evo may be Groakie...(it looks a bit like a Geeko plus it's a pun on the word croak).

Groakie would sound too similar to Froakie, but I'm hoping the English names for the newly-revealed Pokemon from CoroCoro are revealed this weekend or something because going by past reveals relating to X and Y, the localizations were released not long after the Japanese. I'm hoping they all get good names, plus there's that bet that Nyaonikusu might be called Meowstick or something.

Am I the only person who thinks the long-necked (diplodocus) pokemon looks really, really amateur?

It just doesn't look like a Pokemon at all to me, it looks like a poorly done fan-mon.

It's not that I have a problem with a Pokemon looking masculine or feminine in and of itself, it's just that I think it makes it awkward when there are no visible differences between genders, like the Machop line or the Gothita line. Then again, it's not like I'm against men looking feminine or women looking masculine irl, so maybe it's good that they do this sort of thing, to beat down on discrimination against cross-dressers and the like. But it really does puzzle me why they'll take the time to give gender differences to Pokemon like Nyaonikusu, who to me looks gender-neutral with both designs, but then leave Pokemon like Lopunny with a single design that gives off a more feminine vibe. I'll stop rambling now. =P

Seeing Quilladinin the game makes me like it now. The name is cool too.

Braixen still looks like some type if magician.

I think Frogadier well gain Flying at it's final evo.

Quilladin?!From Paladin?!!
I love that name sooooo much!I hope its evo will have a lance or 2 shields one on each arm to intensify defense!
So we have our first female evil organization leader!

Some interesting news on types

"Some more changes regarding types have been announced; Ghost types are no longer affected by moves that prevent fleeing such as Mean Look. Grass Pokémon can't be seeded or affected by moves such as SleepPowder or Stun Spore. Electric types can no longer be Paralysed"
