This section is flawless; I love-love-love how you included how she maintains various aspects of herself and personality quirks (like "she likes to incessantly depict herself under such a description") and immediately began to let us know how extra and showy - apt, considering her creature is based off a circus seal - she is. This is a character whose outward expression sounds so crucial, so riddled with silent insecurity, and you can immediately tell who she is by looking at her: a woman who makes herself out to be ten times what she is, daring to add artifice and glittery theatrics to a body already inspired by one of the most beautiful creatures in mythology - the siren - and shiny coloring. Her picture - which has great coloring and awesome linework by the way - solidifies the section wonderfully, even though your description hits all the marks perfectly! It's very easy to imagine her.

That little kiss mark on her photograph, and her childhood picture scribbled out ... hm, I expect Vissi is the culprit behind both additions. Ashamed of her former looks, eh?

And another round of applause on this section, I love how your concept is so focused on her voice, and the descriptions are so thorough! Making Growl a bit like an Attract substitute is such a curious and wonderful choice to help the move fit theme and give Vissi her own personal touch on the technique.

A comment though: your descriptions of Disarming Voice and Perish Song sound very ... similar in my head? Disarming Voice is a sweeter song that can induce fear-driven hallucinations or scrounge up bad memories, and Perish Song, while its quality is the opposite, "spread despair through a dulcet travesty of night terrors." I'm reading that kind of as the same effect. Could you help me understand how the two moves differentiate from one another?

What I mean with the "performance" aspect is that when serving others, he deliberately tries to give off the air and demeanor of someone easygoing (as you've said), but it's actually one of his highly methodical practices; he's not truly that way. In any case, just deleting the discrepancy in entirety is a valid option as well if this idea doesn't sit well with you.

I could expand the actual at-the-table section of the story instead of cut away. Which "new things" are you hoping to see? Or you could ask more questions.

I don't think more questions would get the exemplary behavior I need to see, and I think the part you're pointing towards could very well work! As for what specific parts, I'm a bit at a loss since I felt like I said what I needed to see in the quote you directly posted, but to rephrase: I want to see his uptightness, more of him trying to wager what he should do in this markedly unprofessional professional request, I want to see internal struggle and him trying to keep up his rigid code of ethics ... his more adversarial or provocative traits, if you will. Disarming Voice can only affect individuals on a personal level (i.e, evokes bad memories and/or negative emotions) while Perish Song subjects targets to a chaotic musical about my character's angst a la Notre Dame's Hell Fire, where she expresses her desires to fuck gypsies. Perish Song also harms my character, since she's essentially having a dire moment of crisis when using Perish Song.

App progress: 49%. Not that anyone was begging to see my sign-up in-particular but everyone generally seemed desperate excited for more characters to pop up in the out-of-character thread. So, brief update, and promise to myself: I really want the entire finished product uploaded by Friday, at most.

Brief comments regarding the in-progress characters that have been posted in my stead: Pyukumuku is already a step in the right direction and her being super squishy helps matters even more. "Grass-type" might not seem like much to go on but I feel that type specifically has a lot of overlooked imagination, from Tangrowth to Roserade, and the concept of animate, spore-spitting, vine-whipping foliage is amusing in itself, so I'd intrigued to see what your character turns out to be, Meganium unless it's actually a fucking Meganium, you wouldn't actually do that would you. Also, Ech, yes your app is pretty and the way you expertly weave a description of your character's appearance—an interesting appearance section, only in OTM—and moveset in a manner that greatly distinguishes Vissie D'Arte as her own. Greatly anticipating your finished history, yours and Grelzar's. I still don't get the pun for Bun T's name I am dirty, bias-ridden garbage, I love Rotom unconditionally, I would love to see one come to life in Hell's Kitchen.

It can certainly be resisted or ignored, but everyone likes to hear even a little kudos

2. Added this portion to The City Life in the Background (after Queenie the Tsareena introduces herself):
When the Salazzle returned the greet, Queenie remarked on her strange accent. As the two walked out of the alley, Daiquiri took the time to explain where she grew up to a curious Tsareena before the sudden move to this city. Queenie made it a point to take Daiquiri up under her wing as thanks for the help. The two became fast friends as Queenie showed Daiquiri around the districts most evenings and introduced her to the thrill of gatecrashing. Daiquiri began to grow accustomed to the different scenes of the city, as she began to mold a new identity for herself from all these different influences, down to the new nuances in her inflection.

3. Added this portion to The Workforce in the Background:
She finally came across Finer Things, a fine-dining restaurant that was hiring for server position. She took an application home, showed her father when he was available, and said she would apply there as a start. Vortiger recognized the status of the restaurant. After silently recalling some important details, he decided to help her prepare by teaching her a few things about table sets and etiquette - albeit, as he was taught back in his home court. When it was time to show the restaurant's powers that be a demonstration for the position, most of what she was taught translated over - though she did raise a few eyebrows and evoke a few reactions during the performance and interview. Though it appeared she was mixly reviewed when she left, she was called back a week later with the job. Now Daiquiri has only been working there for a week, but she feels that she could make the situation work.

I will say I see Carmine a lot more neurotic, detail-oriented, and cold than Castiel, who I saw trading in his pompousness for smug self-satisfied pride in contrast to Amaryllis' matronly spectacle and outward selfishness. I think our Trumbeak doesn't view people as lower than him because he believes he is higher than them, but because he believes that everyone fails to meet their own capacity, and that embitters him and engenders distrust. Like, "I'm not a smart man, I just appear that way because most are hopeless to help themselves."

Though I hope to show or develop the nerdier and more fun sides to him as the RP goes on!

PJ is cute

I have such a soft spot for PJ, I can just imagine him so throughly in my head. The way he moves, his inflection, his little habits ... I would make him the main employee manager if I didn't need Carmine's calculating and critical eye, or Lombardi's temper.

I believe you can narratively refer to a Furret as a ferret and a Spinda a panda without it establishing that real-world animals are canon; they do that with PokeDex entries all the time.

Though, I'm coming at this from the perspective of "Malignant seems to think this 'mulling over' is the main hurdle." If there's more that's telling you you need to pull out, my b. But if I'm right, I hope my advice is valuable and you might reconsider.

What do you mean by "original body"? It was my understanding (based on what I've seen animated) that Rotoms in base form have nothing that they leave behind when they zip into machines. Or, was your Rotom possessing some kind of machine from the outset of the scene?

Edit: Ah, later on you mention he goes into a light bulb body. So is that something he'll be possessing regularly instead of a normal form with no "solid" body?

The spin you've put on this moveset is very clever. I've never seen Growl used like that, and Aria... Ok I don't know anything about Aria but the description sounds like waterbending fused with singing but usually used to form hands, and it's just... nifty~

Great backstory, great newspaper article, which is also a clever way of presenting your story. May I ask, what genre of band are the Indigo Spots? Oh, and is it ok if my character has happened to have read this newspaper? I'm also curious what happened between these two stories: how a smol sea lion went from new arrival to the city, to a star.

He would also try to make his co-workers, the other servers, live up to his standards too. Standards which "should be the norm" for all servers in fine dining. But of course, this could be a fool's errand with some of them.

The Linoone is rigidly accurate, demanding strict attention to rules and procedures. He becomes displeased with anything that is not perfect or does not meet extremely high standards.

Cadbury is so built for one job, that he's treating the job he currently has as the job he is familiar with, the one he wants to have and is "supposed" to be living. He is self-resentful of the fact that he's a glorified waiter in a glorified restaurant, instead of managing a mansion by now, as he truly should be.

The Cadburies are known for generations of great service, so there is an idealized role to fill by the time it has hit James' shoulders. As the latest in the Cadbury family line, which holds a legacy of highly talented footmen, butlers, stewards, and other roles of service, James has high expectations placed upon him, and high expectations for himself as well. He has set a practically unattainable standard for himself. Any time he slips up (as he would inevitably, he's only mortal), he's falling short of this perfect butler model he ought to live up to. You can imagine how stressful this would be.

What is he going to do with this… this markedly unprofessional professional request? Can he even call it a professional request, at this point? His disciples have always said that romantic pursuits and guests must not mix, and in theory, the customers of a bistro are comparable to guests. But here he is with a request from his boss to go date one of them. It's a contradiction of orders and the code of conduct.

What is that bird thinking. This assignment is preposterously over the line. Who I date is part of my personal life. And I am certainly no… no harlot, some worker he can send off to gratify and enchant his customers.

Cadbury forces himself to calm his thoughts. He's being unfair toward his boss: it was not the Trumbeak's idea, it was the customer's. And it's both Carmine's and Cadbury's jobs to make the customers comfortable.

He wishes he'd been given a phone number instead of just a street address. He could call the customer, and make an excuse. Yes, like… he's already seeing someone. Or… he's already married. To his job.

No, no, lying to the customer would be a breach of trust, and that's hardly better than a breach of proper work conduct. He has to go, he can see no other way. He'll just have to give the cust-- his date, a nice evening, treading carefully as he goes. No… romance. Be charming, but not too charming. He mustn't give the impression that he wishes to make this a regular occurrence. That would only further complicate matters.

With a conclusion reached, Cadbury finally notices he's been chewing his lip. He really must stop doing that.

At the end of the date, the badger finds himself back where the date started, in Chris's doorway. The Lopunny thanks Cadbury for the lovely time, and adds, "I was sincerely hoping that… our lovely evening together wouldn't end here. Do you think you might… join me inside?"

Cadbury hesitates. His eyes move away from Chris's, apparently taken with a windowsill flower planter. "Ah, I… Inside? I'm afraid you caught me unprepared, I… I wasn't planning on extending tonight's festivities beyond the bistro."

"Oh, that's no trouble." With an incline of his head, the Lopunny's smile turns just a little more cunning. "I've planned enough for the both of us. I promise it'll be even more fun than the restaurant."

Cadbury's large claws click together in front of his chest. Mental images are already forming in his head, and in turn giving rise to another blush overtop his muzzle. How can he gracefully bow out of this? His gaze returns to Chris, but his head remains turned to the side. "I'm afraid I'm not dressed for anything except a night out…"

"That, we can fix with ease." Chris reaches forward, past those clicking claws. He takes hold of Cadbury's necktie, and pulls the badger gently across the threshold.

Great backstory, great newspaper article, which is also a clever way of presenting your story. May I ask, what genre of band are the Indigo Spots? Oh, and is it ok if my character has happened to have read this newspaper? I'm also curious what happened between these two stories: how a smol sea lion went from new arrival to the city, to a star.

Yes, you can reference the article as anyone else can, since that's the reason why I struggled so hard to write it like one (admittedly, I am no journalist).

Most of the the events between Vissi's childhood and her stardom is will be explained in the prompt, though I am trying very hard to keep a lot of things shady and ambiguous so players can come to their own interpretations without having to strictly resort to a specific portrayal of her that most RPs seem to do a lot with personality and appearances (the IRONY is I deliberately want the in-game characters to have a set perspective on her as a pop star for Vissi's theme).

The genre is most likely doo wop heard in the 50's, though Vissi has an affinity for the blues. She ironically does not sing the piece she was named after, as I decided to keep allusions to human culture to a minimum.

It's weird hearing a Pokemon refer to themselves with this term, when Pokeballs, the very thing that allows them to fit in pockets, are a forgotten relic along with the humans that disappeared.

Not that you can't do it or anything. It just got me thinking how that term would possibly survive the disappearance of, um, pockets.
