Not open for further replies.
I went on Serebii and looked at the pokemon, pretty crazy types and names. I cant even say half of the names. Do you think they are going to change the names so that they are easier or keep them?

I cant help but think that the names of the three monkeys will be based off the names of the wise monkeys, and then their evos will be based on the fashion styles in terms of a name.

I don't know. That would be a little too "Japanese" for pokemon that they are really pushing as alternate starters. I mean... Yanappu = Iwazaru, Baoppu = Kikizaru, and Hiyappu = Mizaru. It just doesn't have a good ring to it in English. I'd say that there would be a much higher chance for it if those were their Japanese names.

Anyway, I'm glad my names are getting some loving! I reworked them a bit today to make them look and sound better. And to make it a bit more obvious that the "key" in their names comes from monKEY. It doesn't change the sound at all.

Yanappu = Oakkey
Baoppu = Smokkey
Hiyappu = Soakkey

monkey -> ape? gorilla? simian?
Yanakki = Oakape? Oakilla? Oakian?
Baokki = Smokape? Smokilla? Smokian?
Hiyakki = Soakape? Soakilla? Soakian?

I'm really stuck on the evolutions. Any help?

I think Zorua, Zoroark, and all the Legendaries should be untouched.

I have so many English name guesses for Pokémon Black and Pokémon White based on their appearences. Just like the other generations.

Starting off with the starter Pokémon:

-The Grass type starter-

TSUTAJA (ツタジャ) = LIZEED (as in "Lizard" and "Weed")
and it's evolutions of LIZRASS (as in "Lizard" and "Grass") and GRAKE (as in "Grass" and "Snake").

-The Fire type starter-

POKABU (ポカブ) = IGNITLET (as in "Ignite" and "Piglet")
and it's evolutions of PIGLAST (as in "Pig" and "Blast") and FLAREHOG (as in "Flare" and "Hog", as I've just realized someone's already said it).

-The Water type starter-

MIJIMARU (ミジマル) = SHELLBY (as in "Shell" and "Baby")
and it's evolutions of SAMUROTTER (as in "Samurai" and "Otter") and SAMURION (as in "Samurai" and "Sea Lion").

And there's my guesses for the Pokémon Black/White starter English names for the Pokémon.

What I want the English names to be:

Cool names I just think that Flawine and Embig should be switched, Embig seems more like Pokabu's name.

When thinking of English names they have to be easy to remember and roll off the tongue. Stuff like Pignite and Emboar are catchy, but things like Empig just sound weird to say.

I guess they do, but we have had names like that before but most roll off the tongue so maybe it'll be Emboar for the final form :)

Here are my thoughts:

Tsutaja - Ivyper (Ivy and viper)
Pokabu - Pignite (Pig and ignite)
Enbuoo - Emboar (Ember and Boar)
Mijumaru - Wotter (This one is too obvious)
Minezumi - Hypmunk (Hyper Chipmunk)
Miruhoggu - Meerhog (Meerkat and Groundhog)
Yooteri - Yorteri
Choroneko - Blackat
Leapordasu- Purrage (Purr and mirage)
Shimama - Zebolt (Zebra and bolt)
Chillarmy - Chillarmy
Desukan - Egyptomb
Rankurusu - Ranculus
Wargle - Wargle

Emboar might stay the same.

Ember boar -- Emboar

It makes sense in English so there is no real reason to change it.

Tsuutaja-Snivy
Janobi-Snavine
Jaroda-Viperial
Pokabu-Charpig
Chaobuu-Charboar
Emboar-Emboar (dur)
Mijumaru-Aquott
Futachimaru-Riverrot
Daikenki-Samuraion
Minezumi-IDK
Miruhoggu-Meerhog
Yooterie-Yorterrie
Harderrier-Harderria
Murando-IDK

The Starters
Snivy (snake & ivy), Iglet (ignite & piglet), and Wotter(water & otter)

On the last list I posted with 156 names. I wanted to change one, Emboar which I called Boarter (Boar + Fighter), I changed it to Boarrior (Boar + Warrior); same concept for the name. Just rolls off the tongue better.

Tsutarja: Sepleaf (neoseps + leaf)
Janoby: Skivy (skink + ivy)
Jaroda: Snaking (snake + king)

Pokabu: Piglit
Chaobu: Pignite/Pignition
Enbuoo: Boarbeque (I really have know idea, but this is the best I can come up with, lol.)

Mijumaru: uh...
Futachimaru: ah...
Daikenki: I got nothing.

Mijumaru is becoming my favorite of the starters, but is also the hardest to name. I have a strong feeling they won't go with Wotter. That's like naming a fire-type bat pkmn Vire (vampire + fire.) I get that the pun is that it sounds so much like the type, but that's also why it's a horrible name. I'm loving Smugleaf, though. :)

Boarrior is really hard to say.

Yeah I have no issues pronouncing it, however, I don't think it's likely to be a Pokemon name because it doesn't sound like previous ones, I... dunno, Emboar makes so much more sense and hopefully it'll stay that way (yeah that makes no sense but I like Emboar so...yeah).

Me too Emboar would make a nice English name for Pokabu :)
