It's exam time for a lot of ppl, I'm sure it'll be ok in like June.

Is it me or do I never see ROM Hacking mods graduate to h-staff? It's like they're cursed or something.
theyre cursed because they mod ROM hacking.

What even makes one qualify for hstaff anyway?

glad you asked!

or, well, not. because it's a really complex question and each hstaffer places different amounts of emphasis on different things. i think we've kinda given up sticking to a unified "set" of qualities or qualifications which make someone promotable to hstaff and instead gone our own ways in the hope that what we get is a diverse and balanced team rather than a load of people who all think and act the same.

for example, when i'm looking at someone as an hstaff candidate they absolutely have to be consistently active in staff discussions, particularly those beyond the scope of their own sections. demonstrating some sort of leadership position elsewhere on pc (for example, Choice Specs and the Battle Server, Achromatic and Social Media) is really helpful too. inversely, i don't particuarly mind if they're enormously active on the public face of things, they don't need to be meeting and greeting new members or posting in cq&f, etc. i'm also not enormously fussed over how long they've been a mod, and i'm notorious for being very conservative with promotions. other people might be the opposite - they like promoting people who they think are good, they might value excellent member engagement and community presence over staff forum activity, and they might be okay with a candidate sticking to their own section rather than branching out into others.

so i guess it depends who you ask. you'll always see buzzwords like "enthusiastic", "helpful", "dedicated", "leadership", etc. thrown around but how we assess those sorts of qualities varies.

I got smodded for finding every rule breaker in the entire forum and reporting them and spamming the mod chat forum. Simpler times, for sure.

Scizz?

everyone knows the real secret to promotions

Nobody is leaving. They are just changing their names endlessly so it looks like they left.

I was mostly just curious, they have enough hstaff anyway by the look of it.

we're all getting fired

Why would you believe that?

I was mostly just curious, they have enough hstaff anyway by the look of it.

The issue is, if they have to fill in for too many modless sections at a time, they may not have enough time to perform actual higher staff duties. It does make me question the system, at least in comparison to the more popular forum sites.

What higher staff duties are you worried about the higher staff not being able to perform? And you're talking about staff who already do cover all the forums as part of their "higher staff duties", so...
