So I head to the Advance Generation board and decide to do a challenge run through Leaf Green. I spend over an HOUR typing up the intro post and getting it looking all pretty. I put screenshots and cool pictures everywhere, hoping to make it cool looking. I click post.

Oh wait, I can't post links until I've made fifteen posts. I'll just remove the links. I click back.

Oh cool, MY ENTIRE POST IS GONE.

The "can't post links until fifteen posts" thing HAS to go. What kind of rule is that? If you think someone is going to make a new account and spam links, then just get your obviously lazy staff to clean up the posts. It's not that hard. Unbelievable.

Just go make 15 posts. I believe it's stated in the rules that you need 15 for links; should've read'em.

Well, it's not the're fault. There taking the best caution to not have people spam the forums up. The 15 posts legit posts proves that your actually here to be a good member, not some stupid moron who's only interest is to send random stuff. If you want to get those links up, you gotta work for it. Post 15 times. It isn't that hard.

I think the primary reason the 15 link thing is around is to prevent people from joining to troll the board by spamming porn. :x

Alright, go read the rules. Point out where it says this. Unless I've suddenly lost the ability to read, it's not there.
Not to mention the rules of a forum should usually be an announcement rather than being found in a board that's not even specified to having the rules.

Second of all, it's not difficult at all to remove spam. Hire more mods if you have to. It takes one click to delete a post that contains spam. I've modded at forums nearly as big as this. It's not difficult at all. This rule is just laziness on the moderation's part.

I think you're failing to see the point that I wasted over an hour of my life working very hard on something for it to be completely wiped by an idiotic rule.

I would have less of a problem if this rule was clearly stated somewhere. But it's not in the New Users rules in the Welcome board, it's not in the main rules, it's not anywhere.

As has been said before, the 15 post limit is to prevent adbots [not really spam attacks that are deliberate by people making accounts, bots that companies/etc use to sign up on forums and then like post all sorts of virusy/stuff like CLICK HERE TO WIN A FREE iPhone !!!!]. It's not that we don't have enough mods to clean up their spam, but if we can minorly prevent it all together, why wouldn't we? Lol.

I apologize that it this occurred, but, that's why it's there.
To remove it completely would be silly when all you can do is just post in some threads XD; It's not that hard, trust me. :p

Oh, and by the way, please, don't be so abusive/negative towards the staff. There's absolutely no reason to get so upset. Take some time and calm down, please ^^;

And I feel your pain of losing stuff, bro. I once worked 3 hours on a what I'd like to call a CSS masterpiece, but then my freakin internet went out, and for some reason, my text was gone! But it happens, so don't get too annoyed.

From this I learned to always Copy the text before I post if it's a wall of text. Then I don't need to lose it!

I understand your frustration after loosing such a long post, but you shouldn't take it out on the staff...
I've had it several times already that I lost my post due to bad internet or browser issues. It's no big deal, just redo it... and sometimes it will turn out to be better than the first one.

When I was a new member, I found it annoying as well that I couldn't post pictures or links until I had 15 posts... But I posted here and there and eventually reached 15. There are plenty of topics around here. It's not that hard to reach 15 (constructive posts) in less than an hour.

Anyways, Xephyr, sorry you lost your post, but you're already up to 13 posts, so you're only a few away. Like Erik said, it's to prevent bots and spammers from coming in with advertisements and such. If we don't have that feature, the spam can get out of hand, especially with bots coming to advertise things. That's the reason it's there. I'm sure someone on the higher staff will see this thread and maybe add it to the rules or information area. :/
