Has there been any moments for you while playing Pokémon games, in which you desperately wanted to capture something, but due to some unfortunate reasons, were unable? If so, how did they go?

For me, one of them would be when I had ran into a shiny Litleo in Y version; I've wanted to catch this Pokémon badly, but sadly, there were only around three to five Poké Balls in my backpack, and I didn't want any of them to go to a waste. Due to this reason, I decided to hurt it a little. Before I even knew it, the move instantly became critical, making it faint. Luckily, I had chance to catch another of these shiny Litleo later throughout, which I was successful at!

Another moment would be in FireRed, when I ran into shiny Tauros (is this how we spell it?) in Safari Zone. Unfortunately, this one wound up running away after throwing three - four Safari Balls. I've tried a lot of things to keep it sticking, such as feeding it constantly, but it still managed to escape.

i met a shiny wild ashley once, but it had like a catch rate of 0.01 and i didn't have any master balls with me :(

and i ran into a shiny poochyena once, it was the rse (yes the originals, the nostalgia ahh!) starting battle where you have no pokeballs :x

also i think i encountered a shiny dragonair in bw, i killed it by accident, oops silly me :p but shiny dragonite is fugly so meh

There was one time I was doing a Bug Catching Contest on SoulSilver and by some miracle I stumbled upon a Shiny Beedrill. I don't remember if I accidentally killed it or ran outta balls or what, but I didn't catch it. =(

Catching a Mew in Pokemon yellow, via improvised glitch.
I was almost at the end of the game and couldnt use the standard way, but with a lot of effort I was able to pull it out and get myself a Mew.

Catching a shiny is a cool feeling, but Im chaining for it, so its not such a surprise. But the moment you see the shiny patch shine and sparkle is sooo satisfying.

I always wanted to catch an Abra on Pearl, but he kept teleporting from the battle. I just got the trade one instead.

I was training my Magnemite in Pacifidlog Town in Sapphire via fishing for Sharpedo. Thundershock wasn't able to oneshot them, so when I accidentally ran into a shiny Sharpedo I used Thundershock and...got a crit.

That was my only shiny encounter in Gen 3 outside of ROM hacks.

Time to bring up a traumatizing experience...

Okay, so about 9 years ago I completed just about everything in LeafGreen (bar the Pokédex), so I decided to go train some underleveled Pokémon on Route 2. After a few battles, a random Raikou came out of nowhere! I was literally freaking out, as I had no flippin' clue what was going on. At any rate, I switched out to the strongest Pokémon in my party, but the darned Raikou used Roar... ROAR, of all things! To anyone who isn't aware of the "Roaming Roar Glitch," it's a troublesome bug in all FR/LG games that causes Entei or Raikou to disappear indefinitely from the wild if it escapes by using Roar...

Of course, I went crazy for the next few days, and I deeply regretted using my Master Ball on a mere Articuno.

    Sigh...

Alongside shiny Tauros escaping from me FireRed Safari Zone, I've also had another experience like this in my third (or was it fourth?) run of Pokémon Emerald version, thinking about it. If I remember right, it was shiny Heracross, but sadly, I wasn't able to successfully capture, as it wound up escaping after throwing a Safari Ball or two towards the Pokémon.

It's very, very surprising as to how easy is it to be running into shinies in places like this of all locations, to be honest, at least in my eyes. I seriously wish it were someplace else, and not some spot in which they're easily able to escape.

I once found a shiny Exeggcute in the Safari Zone in Fire Red. Considering this is the Safari Zone we're talking about, you can probably guess how well that went... :(

Yes, I was playing Randomized Nuzlocke last night on Emerald and I came across a wild Entei at Level 16. I had it down to very low HP and had it paralyzed then realised I had no balls to catch it with. Another occasion in the same game where a Pokemon got a way was a shiny Heracross, but the sandstorm killed it and I was crushed.

idk what game, but there was a wild beldum and I was trying so hard to catch it. Little did I know it has the catch rate of fucking legendaries. So I'm literally sitting there throwing ball after ball while it's on 1 or 2 hp. Needless to say I did not catch that beldum.
