1st Gen Onwards to Fuchsia City

In RBY and their remakes, you have to reach Fuchsia City, located on the southern coast of the Kanto region. You have two route options: you can either hop on your bicycle and ride down from Celadon City, battling gang members and their Poison-type Pokémon along the way; or you can opt for a romantic walk across Silence Bridge from Lavender Town, facing fishermen and bird keepers.
Which route did you take?

I personally almost always go through Lavender Town route – because I keep forgetting to get the bicycle for the other route.

I think I pretty much always got there via the bike route. Not sure why I hardly if ever went the other way.

I usually go both ways even if it's just for the EXP. For what I pick first: depends on what I try to do. If I want a Pokemon from the Safari Zone in my party I try to keep things short and EXP low and go through the bike route. If I'm just doing it for the EXP I might just pick whatever. Although, if the Super Rod is important for that playthrough, then I might pick that one first on purpose. ^^"

Always goes down Cycling Road. Reaches the Fuchsia City fly point much faster. Means using fewer bag items or taking fewer trips back to Lavender.

Cycling Road for me. Only once did I go the Lavander Town route because I forgot where to get the bicycle in 1 run. I think it was really cool that Game Freak thought of 2 different routes just incase the player missed the bicycle.

I always catch the Snorlax south of Lavender Town like a rebel. They just want you to think the Snorlax west of Celadon City is the one Red canonically catches. Wake up, Sheeple! [/In Jest]

I go south of Lavender Town cuz the Snorlax there is closer to Mr. Fuji's house where you get the flute, then I go up the bicycle path for the extra experience. I'm actually not sure why people insist the bicycle path is the one intended to be taken first because I find the bicycle path slightly a little harder, though certainly, both are at least a little tedious. Maybe it's because I'm playing FRLG where Cross Chop can completely nuke a Doduo/Dodrio (which makes nuzlockes that much harder for an amateur nuzlockers such as myself).

As a middle schooler playing Yellow, I got stuck after getting the flute cuz I didn't know you were supposed to select it from your inventory (because my other Pokémon game from childhood Sapphire would just ask you outright if you want to use items like HM move Rock Smash, HM move Cut, etc.) hence why I choose the Snorlax on the pier. I don't really blame the game for my getting stuck. I just thought it was an amusing anecdote.
