    I'm bored, so why not.

Gen 5 introduced many Fighting-types, all useful in their own ways. Let's discuss about the following Pokemon, if you like them or not (and why), your experience with them competitively and in-game, their design, etc:

Emboar is probably the best of the gen 5 starters both competitively and in-game, due to high-powered moves, decent bulk and coverage in the form of Wild Charge, Scald and HP Grass. It looks a bit silly, but I still like it.

They look stupid, but even Gurdurr can pack a punch in-game, especially if you manage to find an Eviolite. Actually, it's quite effective in lower tiers, due to how hard it is to kill if it runs Bulk Up. Conkeldurr got a decent boost in XY with Assault Vest and Knock Off, so it's even more threatening to stall than before.

I don't like these two mainly because of how similar they are in looks and how outclassed they are. Though I'll admit Sawk is good in-game.

They actually look badass, and can pack a punch in-game, as well as in lower tiers. DD Scraggy was effective even in RU - while Scrafty could be used as a surprise factor in high-level play.

Mienshao is really good in-game, since it really helps you against N, Ghetsis and Alder, though it evolves at level 50 (!). The same thing can't really be said competitively (at least in OU), despite gaining Knock Off. They look amazing, though.

Probably my favourite Fighting-type from this gen, since it's SURPRISINGLY good in OU due to Volt Switch, Taunt, and being one of the best lures from the entire game. Did I say Cobalion looks majestic and badass at the same time? It saddens me that this thing is extremely rare.

I like Virizion mainly for its looks, though it can also make for a decent lure and is actually a better SD sweeper than Cobalion imo.

I have a love-hate relationship with Terrak, particularly the Choice Scarf variant. I lost many tournaments because of this thing, but I love it in Ubers because it kills weakened Arceus (Normal), Yveltal, Ho-oh, and so many other weakened things, even Kyogre!

It's really good in OU, and looks pretty cute, but not much else to say.

    Ok lets see:
Emboar i didnt like sorry enthusiasts but i feel hes a mockery hes not very powerful and his first 2 evolutions were better and then his sprite bad just bad.

Conkeldurr is kinda stupid just meh little thing on his head fluff on gurdurr so stupid and ugly.

Throh and Sawk i liked well no i didnt i like Sawk and in the anime he looks even more powerful. Throh not needed short and not needed once agian :p

Scraggy and Scrafty i dont even understand although the spires are good why dark type it doesnt even look it nor have great moves for it.

Mienshao is my favorite high jump kick and its quite powrful i have no negatives for it nor its devolution

The trio was great in my opinion i liked the movie their sprites are good and the story behind them is good.

I like unova quite a bit but some of the pokemon could have been better :p

Ah, Unova Fighting types. They're rather controversial, but I am not afraid to admit that I love every single one of them. x)

Emboar: This Pokémon is rather 'eh' to me at first, but it grew on me after using it in Black. Plus, it has a great Shiny forme.
Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr: I like the idea of a Fighting type using some kind of weapon. I also like how useful it is.
Throh, Sawk: Throh is 'eh' to me, but Sawk is one of my favourite Pokémon of all time. I love how early you can catch it in B1W1, I love how it can help you in the game from start to finish and I love the design. Seriously, how can you not like an angry demon in a gi? x)
Scraggy, Scrafty: My least favourite Unova Fighting types. Don't get me wrong, it's still decent in battle and I like the designs too. I'm just not too fond of bad boys. :P
Mienfoo, Mienshao: Mienfoo used to be a favourite of mine, but these days its design looks too weird for my tastes. Mienshao on the other hand, is also one of my favourite Pokémon of all time. It has a fantastic design, it's awesome in battle and it has insipred me to learn new things.
Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo: I just love these Legendaries. x) For the longest time, I had trouble deciding who is my favourite, but after a lot of time and thought, Terrakion is my favourite of the four.

However, my favourite Unova Fighting type is Sawk, without a doubt. You may think it's Mienshao after how much I praised it (not to mention my avatar and signature), but I actually have more praise for Sawk. It would take a very long time to explain why I like this Pokémon so much.

EDIT: Here's a little piece of work that I written months ago. It explains why I like Sawk so much. :P

    Alright, here goes.

Emboar - Emboar continues the typical fire/fighting chain of the past two generations and is questionably the worst out of the three. Its design feels rather bland and admittedly out of place. Too bulky, too big, too strange. I'm not a fan of Emboar but I can say that it at least has good fighting potential and can really clean up after your team despite its low speed.

Timburr/Gurrdurr/Conkeldurr They're okay but again, not my favourites. Timburr's cute but the rest of the line is eh. Especially Gurrdurr. However I'll say that Conkeldurr looks like something that would wreck anything up without hesitation. With whatever the hell it's holding.

Throh/Sawk: Quite an interesting duo and one I actually sorta like. Although it's a little less impressive than Conkeldurr, Sawk is a really good battler and Throh is pretty good defensively. Not to say they can't alternate between the two though. I think Sawk would be my favourite out of the two, probably just because blue + looks more like a fighter. But they're both nice.

Scraggy/Scrafty - They need a tighter pair of pants. Can't have them falling down during a fight, y'know. Seriously though, Scraggy's pretty cute. Scrafty? Not so much.

Mienfoo/Mienshao: Cats skilled in martial arts. Does that earn my approval? Heck yeah. :D

The Four Swords/Musketeers: I love all of them! Their designs each have individual traits that I really like but overall, they're great for a group of legendaries. One of my favourite legendary groups in the whole franchise. Very well-designed. :)

Well I got through all of that! I didn't really expect to have such a mixed opinion on Unova fighting types. :( But anyway, I think my favourite overall would probably be Terrakion or Colabion.

Scraggy and Scrafty i dont even understand although the spires are good why dark type it doesnt even look it nor have great moves for it.
They get Knock Off and Crunch as well as Dragon Dance, Drain Punch, High Jump Kick, Iron Head, Zen Headbutt, I could go on. :P Also, I think the Dark type does make sense since they look shady~

The Tepig line: Tepig is adorable, Pignite looks a little awkward and Emboar looks huggable. I have used Emboar for my White 2 run and I enjoyed it. Can't say much about using it competitively. :P

The Timburr line: Timburr is adorable, Gurdurr's grown on me (Mystery Dungeon) and I love Conkeldurr (based off an ogre is really unique).

Bert and Ernie Throh and Sawk: They are okay design wise, can't say they are my favourites.

    The Scraggy line:
So, Scraggy is this cutest thing. Ever. I mean, look at that derpy face and how it pulls up its pants. Scrafty is just a lovely Pokemon and I (almost) always fit it in my in game and competitive teams. The design is amazing and unique too. Definitely my favourite Pokemon <3

    The Mienfoo line:
Looks elegant and Mienshao was amazing in White 2.

The Musketeers: Cobalion looks sweet, Terrakion looks buff (and it's awesome in competitive play), Virizion is elegant and Keldeo looks nice. The Swords of Justice (the manga) made me like them even more; Virizion is my favourite out of the trio.

    Hmm...

Emboar: Looks a lot like Ganon. That is seriously all I can think of when I see it. Tepig is quite cute for a piglet, and Pignite's cry sounds like someone passing wind.

Timburr/Gurrdurr/Conkeldurr: I actually quite like these three. They have entertainingly imaginative names, hit pretty hard in-game, and they're like weird fusions of the Machop line with Farfetch'd.

Scraggy/Scrafty: Hmm...well, Ash's Scraggy has endeared me to this line a little bit. I don't dislike them, but I can't say I'm overly keen on them either. A "meh" Pokemon for me.

Mienfoo/Mienshao: U-Turn Regenerator Mienshao. Bahahaha. I like it just for that; it's Breloom all over again in terms of how much of a troll it can be. I suppose it's fairly elegant after a fashion as well.

Throh/Sawk: I really don't like these two...they feel like rehashes of Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, only they look too similar to one another to have any defining characteristics. One is blue, one is red. I frequently forget which is which. Bleh.

Cobalion/Virizion/Terrakion/Keldeo: I don't like any of these. Partly because the movie they star in is utterly unwatchable, and partly because they don't really feel very Legendary to me. The Three Musketeers aren't exactly awe-inspiring figures, so to base Legendaries on them seems a little bit redundant. Plus I really wanted to get a Keldeo named Albert, which I couldn't do, so...hmph.

I know, my opinions are probably quite shallow. But I don't play competetively and I haven't used half of them, either because I haven't had room on my team or because their design hasn't really appealed to me. I don't use Fighting-types very often anyway.

Emboar line - he just ugly man. And yeah sadly after two fire/fighting starters in a row before him he was old fast and not as good as either of them... HOW U GON DEBUT THE WORST ONE LAST????

Conkeldurr line - man this line is so ****ing ugly and stupid looking I'm sorry. Even if they are good (I didn't bother finding out) they're just so poorly designed imo that it's a waste of time to me.

Throh + Sawk - still don't know which one is which lol. They're too similar and boring. All I know is the blue one was a pain in the ass to fight so kudos to him.

Scrafty line - Actually like this one. Not too bland or too ugly. Interesting type combo and concept.

Mienshao line - Probably the most beautiful fighting type to exist. Use wise it was okay. I found it's defensive stats to suck a bit.

The trio/The quad? - Yeah they're not so bad. All unique in their own way while being interesting. Kinda wish they were the only group of Pokemon in this region and the Kami trio was forever not made into existence.

Of all Unovian fighting-types, ones I actually dislike would be Emboar, Throh, Sawk, and Mienshao. Although some of them are pretty decent when it comes to battling (especially last one), their appearance don't precisely seem to click with me, unfortunately. To me, it seems as if they've been put together sort of... unnaturally, so to speak. Had they put more effort, I'm sure they would have turned out much better.

From those I'm fond of, I'd say my most favorite would like have to be Scrafty. It's got access to a variety of moves and some decent abilities, and regardless of how you combine them, its move-set will always have some good chance of winding up to be utilizable, making it very useful in terms of competitive battling and whatnot. Have used this Pokémon plenty of times before, and it rarely ceased to amaze; it's great.

I'm also a fan of Conkeldurr. Its design seem to suit the Pokémon pretty well, and when it comes to competitive, it's not bad at all; thanks to its massive bulk, it could endure a good portion of hits.

Conkeldurr is overall pretty strong, its only real letdown being its low Speed and Special Defense. It does get Mach Punch as an Egg move to benefit it, which is interesting. One of the more formidable "mighty glacier" (strong but slow) Pokémon out there.

Scrafty is one that had a lot of staying power back then, but sadly, was nerfed horribly with the release of Fairy-types giving it a 4x weakness. Despite that, it does have three very effective abilities and has more than a couple ways it can go (DD+Moxie to name one).

Emboar...to say the least, is a Pokémon I just feel sorry for when people bad-talk it. It's not a competitive Pokémon by any means but it's good for in-game purposes at least.

Mienshao is a major glass cannon, hitting hard and fast but not having the best defenses and too much beyond strong Fighting-type moves.

As for Throh and Sawk, I tend to hate these two not because of their design, but because of how obnoxious they are to fight. x_x Those stupid Fighting-type trainers in B2W2 and XY that throw them out are just the worst.
