If you have owned a pet (or previously owned a pet) have you noticed anything that specifically makes them happy?

I have a Siamese Fighting Fish. He loves the decorations being switched in the tank and will briskly swim around. It's a similar reaction when bringing him food. He bolts towards the top of the tank and waits.

My cat loves playing with anything lengthy and thin like shoe laces or twigs.
Also cardboard boxes. Whenever I receive a package in a cardboard box that's big enough for her to fit in I just put it down for her somewhere and she will find it almost immediately and go lie or sit in it.

Both of my cats love being pet, but in different places.
Smokey specifically loves being all fluffed up.

My cats are siberian forest cats and both like to cuddle a lot c: They're very family oriented cats and like to be around both me and my boyfriend anywhere we go. If I'm cooking they'll play or sit/sleep in the kitchen until I'm done and if I'm taking a bath, they'll sit on the sides of the bathtub. They especially like to just lay in front of me on my desk whenever I'm writing something, working or playing a game. Not on the keyboard but just in the open space between my arms haha. They're very lovable <3

my persian queen loves playing hide and seek, and gets very purredly happy if you scoop her up and put her under the duvet with you in the evenings or mornings. also threads. just threads, slithering across the floor or furniture - she lights up and becomes the huntress

my british asshole just wants food. food is his joy. cheese, salmon, the fucker ate my whole ham slice from the top of my bread the other day when i turned by back for 2 s. i guess he's stupidly cute though so i usually forgive him.

I have a Shih Tzu named Pepper. One thing that she seems to love more than anything in the world is having her fur trimmed. If left ungroomed, the possibility exists that her fur can grow really long, and to be honest, she kind of looks scary like that to me. Lol She's like a wig/hair creature running around. lol However, she never liked having so much hair, as if she is uncomfortable. Thus, whenever she gets trimmed, she gets much more vibrant and obviously happier. Yet, an issue that she suffers from when trimmed is that she gets cold during this time of the year, which also makes her unhappy. Therefore, I dress her up in her own clothes, which makes her very happy again. The second thing, I guess you can say another thing that makes her happy is me. I have been sick for much of this week, mostly laying in bed, but pretty much every day, she would crawl in bed with me and keep me company. The third thing, she loves traveling with me. I take her pretty much everywhere dogs are allowed to go. She can tell whenever I am preparing to go somewhere and she gets excited. She also loves car rides. The fourth thing, oddly enough, she seems to love socks that were worn. Despite the fact that she loves her dog toys, she would raid the dirty clothes hamper for socks specifically. I have no clue why to be honest. She doesn't care for clean socks either or other types of clothes. I've had several socks ruined because of this, but it's something that keeps her occupied, so it doesn't really bother me too much. lol

    Spoiler:

The dog we used to have was always a pretty quiet one, she would never growl or bark or howl or any of that. For whatever reason one of the two exceptions though was when you'd play ball with her, then she'd bark. Never was sure why, but maybe it excited her enough to get her to.
