6th Gen Pokémon Direct - 04/09/2013!

MegaCharizard is now my favorite MegaEvolution, the design its just beastly.

Spoiler:

You have restricted storage space on your games this time based on what was said during Direct so you may need the Online storage.

As long as we're given 900 slots/30 boxes in-game, I will be fine. I just need one slot for each species and a couple of extra boxes for event Pokémon/special Pokémon. I'm also hoping the transfer process will be quick because I have a couple hundred Pokémon that I want to transfer.

While it was disappointing that Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie's evolutions weren't revealed (I guess they are really keeping them under wraps until game release) at least I'm excited I'll finally be able to actually use the Kanto starters since I've never used any of them in the games I've played so far. Charizard's Mega Evolution appearance doesn't look that different, Blastoise and Venusaur's are more noticeable.

Out of the three, I'll probably be using Bulbasaur on my first playthrough. I would have taken Squirtle but I already settled on Froakie for my Water-type. But at least that means the rumor from Pokebeach that Professor Sycamore gives you a Kanto starter has been confirmed 100% true.

But given the Kanto starters getting Mega Evolutions, I wonder if this will lead to all starters getting them?

And the new transfer method is a bit fiddly, due to being a paid service and I don't usually like those. But at least we can transfer from 5th Gen now which is a blessing to some of the people wishing for it.

I'm the same, for many generations now I get of each kind, sometimes I get two of a certain species if it has gender differences. So as long as the ingame pc is large enough I'm fine. Maybe I'll get Pokebank for future transfer though, or maybe not as I'm sure right now.

The rumors seem to have been correct except morphed or worded differently then what actually came true...

I've already formulated a team of Five from the Pokémon revealed so far, so if there isn't another new Pokémon that is revealed which I'm a fan of then I'll quite happily take up the opportunity of using either Bulbasaur, Squirtle or Charmander!

My stream broke towards the end as they announced the pokemon XY 3DSes. Did anyone in Australia know if they are getting released here?

Honestly, I feel the news of whether or not Pokemon Bank is worth it depends on how much one would have to pay annually for it. If it's cheap, then there's not much to worry about, I think.
I'm not expecting it to be much at all, and it certainly doesn't worry me no matter the amount.

The main issue is the younger children, and their access to credit cards and online purchases.

Didn't say anything about Australia, we probably won't get it

So i have to pay to transfer?Well bye bye old friends....
Or if you have a really good friend with Pokebank he or she could help you transfer them...be a long process but it can work ;).

I'm picking either Bulbasaur or Squirtle...maybe Squirtle to try out that new ability...

They did say that this was going to be a smaller storage than before, so I don't think we'll get the 30 PC slots like last time. Maybe 15 if we are lucky as a start and up to 20ish. They are going to want to make us use the Bank so i can see some heavy restrictions for storing in game.

The new ability for Blastoise is kinda crappy. It powers up "Pulse" moves...Blastoise only learns 1 of the 3.

Well, this was exciting news!

I loved seeing the history aspect of communication from link cables to wireless.
Seeing Pokemon Bank as an online storage is definitely a natural progression of storing our Pokemon. And of course, with Pokemon Transporter, we can all transfer our old Pokes from Black (2) and White (2)!

I'm not surprised that it will be a paid service. Seeing as it involves setting up a server which requires maintenance for who knows how many people are going to be using it to store up to 3000 Pokes (!), it doesn't seem like a free service. Of course, the question is how much to pay annually?

But I would have to say that being able to get a Kanto starter and them getting Mega Evolutions was definitely shocking! Out of all of them, I find Mega Blastoise the coolest looking so I'm probably getting Squirtle. But I do wonder when we will be able to get them in the story.

Last but not least, I'm excited to see that the custom X & Y 3DS XL are coming to the US!

Stream only said it was announced for the US and Europe.

SneakyTruth had answered you.

Thank you. Sorry my ipad went weird and didn't show the posted message and I assumed it didn't g through xd

Anyway that's a shame. Australia needs some love too. We not some obscure country. Very annoyed at Nintendo. We are not even getting a wii u price cut or the zelda wii u bundle. Lame. So at least give us the pokemon 3Dses....

I beg to differ. Of the three new mega evolutions for the Kanto starters, Venasaur is the one to have changed the least whereas Charizard's and Blastoise's change is far more noticeable. Just look at the official artwork that's been released.

Mega Charizard is Fire/Flying :/
I was hoping it would get the dragon typing but oh well. Still, pretty cool designs!
Other than alter a Pokémon's physical appearance, I think mega evolutions will only change a Pokémon's nature and ability while its typing will remain the same. For example, Mawile's mega evolution is Steel / Fairy and they've changed Mawile's original typing to match.

I sure hope that...those people who want to capture all the Pokémon and complete the dex but don't want Pokebank are going to have a difficult time doing so...

I hope they give it more...wonder by how much it powers them up by actually...
Squirtle and Bulbasaur are my nostalgia from playing Fr. First got a Squirtle...but my sister restarted the game and choose Bulbasaur so I'm close to both of those Kanto starters.

Something I just noticed within that trailer. The cries for the Kanto starters changed drastically, except for Bulbasaur which just only got shorter/faster to the point where it's still recognizable. That's kind of disappointing, but you know, it's only the cries at least. I mean, the old sounds are fairly outdated so it's about time for an update. The nostalgia gets a bit more dull without em though, to me. ^__^; Ah well. Progress is life.

That was an awesome stream. Disappointing that the Pokébank feature requires a fee (that really shouldn't be necessary :/) but depending on the fee, I mightn't mind too much, for the sake of bringing Pokémon forward.

Also, the Kanto Starters reveal? Holy crap. They really are going crazy, just.. flat out getting rid of all their past traditions. And I quite like the Mega Evolutions of the starters- it was to be expected since they showed Mega Blaziken, but still nice for a bit of confirmation that more starters will have Mega evolutions. Can't wait to see what the other Mega-Starters look like :D

Other than alter a Pokémon's physical appearance, I think mega evolutions will only change a Pokémon's nature and ability while its typing will remain the same. For example, Mawile's mega evolution is Steel / Fairy and they've changed Mawile's original typing to match.
Actually, Ampharos gains Dragon as a type when it Mega-Evolves, so it can't really be assumed that they won't change types for other Mega-Evolutions. I have a feeling only single-typed Pokemon will have additional/different typings, though. (This kinda makes me even more excited about Johto Mega-Starters...)

It wouldn't make a huge difference to him competitively as he'd still be sent out as fire/flying taking SR damage.

Will admit that I love his mega design! Always thought Charizard's normal design was a bit plain and could be improved...
