    What is 'Pokémon: (old) White - Remastered'?
    This game is an RPG Maker XP developed game, using Pokémon Essentials. This is not a ROM hack. This a recreation of an old ROM hack, in a new engine, with updated features. This is a Remaster.

    What is 'Pokémon: (old) White'?
    The original Pokémon (old) White is a ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed, developed by fellow Pokécommunity member 'foullump'. In this game, you play as a student at West Academy, a school dedicated to teaching young people about Pokémon. On your graduation day, you're tasked with a final test: obtaining a Pokémon from a professor, learning to battle and capture Pokémon, and challenge gym leaders. Following graduation, Professor Oak assigns you the mission of gathering data on various Pokémon, leading you to travel through the Denta region alongside your rival.

    The original release of Pokémon (old) White was only a short Beta, releasing in June 2008. That's 17 years ago at the time of writing this. Later, another legendary member of the Pokécommunity forums known as 'hacksrepairman' made significant updates to the game. These enhancements included adding the Johto and Kanto regions (and part of Hoenn), introducing some legendary Pokémon events, fixing various city glitches, and adding flying points for towns in the Denta region. Please go and play his updated version of this ROM hack, his work deserves so much credit.

    So, Foullump? Who is that?
    Foullump is a legend of the PokéCommunity forums (well, to me anyway!). He joined the site in March, 2007. He is known for being one of the OG ROM hackers and for developing Pokémon Old White, a ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed. Beyond his contributions to ROM hacking, he has also created tutorials and resources to assist others in learning about Pokémon game modifications. He has produced content on YouTube related to Pokémon gameplay and hacking.

    Personally, back in 2007, 13 year old me found his skills in ROM hacking to be mind blowing. The fact you could create your very own Pokémon game simply blew my little mind.

    Then what is this game?
    Again, this is not a ROM hack. This a game developed in RPG Maker XP. You can download the game, run the .exe file and play the game.

    Developing a game in RPG Maker XP is much easier and more straight forward than ROM hacking, but also allows you to add a lot of modern features, such as the physical/special split, later gen Pokémon and moves, much more varied graphics, gameplay mechanics... the list goes on.

    This is just a passion project for me, hence porting Pokémon (old) White manually across to this modern piece of software.

    Set three years after the events of Gold/Silver/Crystal.
    Original graphics, trainer sprites and overworlds created by Foullump.
    Original music created by Foullump.
    Expanded tilesets and graphics.
    Dialogue spelling and tiling errors corrected.
    Physical vs Special split.
    Fairy-type.
    Expanded selection of starter Pokémon.
    Pokémon as far as generation 8.
    Moves as far as generation 8.
    Shadows for overworld sprites.
    Expanded events, buildings and storyline on top of Foullump's original creation.
    Maintaining Foullump's original maps and events.
    Level curve has been balanced (Foullump was a monster!)

    This is a very, very early Alpha. It will take you around an hour to complete. Bugs and errors should be minimal. Click the following link to download the game in a .zip file. Extract the files, run the .exe and you're good to go.

    This is only a short demo, maybe an hour of content. I've really enjoyed making it though, I'll probably continue to work on it.. although it won't be as long as Giovanni Origins!
     
    Ah! This one is for the oldies indeed, I was between 10-12 years old when I first heard of Pokémon (Old) White, and what drew me to it was how the original beta used the OW sprite of the hero from Zel's Shiny Gold. I am so happy to see this picked up again and being remastered with Foullump's vision still in mind. I cannot wait to see how far this coes along!

    The BW Summary Screen plugin is a good choice imo. Uses Black/White graphics (fitting given the name, though I know it's unrelated), and it includes an EV/IV summary. I'm not sure if it's still available for download on v20.1 if you're still using that version -- if you are, I can send you the plugin folder! I've still got it.

    Hopefully I can release an extended alpha before the Oblivion remake gets released, as I will be very occupied with that game for the foreseeable future haha.
