News: Pokémon Sun & Moon Officially Announced [Summary of news here!]

https://mobile.twitter.com/Pokemon_cojp/status/715463655240781824

Found this from one of Joe Merrick's(Serebii) latest tweets, in which he said it wasn't a good sign... implying that the new "footage" is just the Direct video from last month.

Me on the other hand, I think it's best to keep our expectations in check and hope they'll still give us something new. All 3 big wigs from Game Freak are going to be their to talk about the new game, I don't see a reason for them to just show the Direct footage and still not give us something new. Friendly reminder that Joe thought for an absolute certainty that we weren't finished with Gen 6 and we were not moving on to Gen 7 yet... this was prior to Sun and Moon's reveal, and most people took his speculation as gospel.

If that's all we're going to be shown without anything new revealed, I would be horribly disappointed because we have been speculating for over a month now on a supposed 7th Generation Pokemon game with pretty much no information known about.

Not a good sign at all, however yeah I agree that they wouldn't bring 3 important GF figures on just to recap the announcement trailer. Especially since one of the main focuses of that trailer was the option to play in traditional/simplified Chinese, which I have a hard time imagining the kids in Japan watching Pokenchi will care about.

Although they could give us details about the concept art and what it's meant to show, which wouldn't be half bad.

I still think re-showing a month old announcement trailer is a terrible idea, especially when the climax of the trailer was the reveal of S/M themselves.

Like. . .are they going to show it and then just be like "lol but u guys already knew this, stay tuned for more ,cya"

I agree, it'd be definitely a waste of their presence just to show a recap of the Direct. We've all been speculating based on next-to-nothing for over a month so the reveal of something new would be helpful to us.

I'm willing to bet it's just a tame April fools prank. Why would they discuss/show footage from two calendar months ago, knowing the hype that would be around their appearance? Exactly. Nothing to worry about. If it isn't the prank, guess what? It's almost the 12th. CoroCoro says hello.

I honestly feel like we've been down this road before, and really won't be surprised if we get a rehash of the direct video this weekend and nothing substantial for the next CoroCoro. We'll just have to wait and see.

I think they will discuss thhe concept art, perhaps tell us what the vehicles are for. I think there's going to be an interview in addition to the footage.

Anyone remember those Pokémon Plus and Minus rumors back in 2014? Someone theorized that they were actually early versions of Sun and Moon:

We'll just have to wait until April 3rd to see if this theory holds.

I remember those rumours, and I almost convinced it would be 7th Gen long before Sun & Moon were announced.

It's not a bad story, but the original "leak" said P/M were Wii U games...

I don't remember hearing about that, especially considering main Pokemon games always tend to get released on Nintendo's current handheld.

What do you guys think about this just posted news?

Also those 'Pokémon' in that video (didn't click it) are unappealing and over complicated. Good thing it's only a rumour!

Those "items", "moves" and "abilities" mentioned seem to be interesting, but the ways to obtain the alternate Zygarde forms seems to be rather complicated. I do find it weird how Zygarde was introduced in 6th Gen, the alternate forms in the anime while not being available in the games until 7th Gen (assuming it seems to be the case).

Mega Delcatty would be definitely appealing if you ask me.

IM SO HYPED FOR THE NEW GAMES!!! i really want a wolf or husky Pokemon this gen :D
:) or maybe even a possum Pokemon so much HYPE!!! :3 i wonder what the starters will be?
i wonder what the mascots of the games are? guess we will have to wait {:3}

Looks like that year gap has finally paid Sugimori off to think of a good design for Mega Flygon. No mention of an Electric and Ice type variant of Blaze Kick.

If those are the base stats for the Zygarde forms, then not only will the cell, core, and 10% forms will be a pain to train without getting them fainted by a single strong move, it'll also be frustrating to catch Perfect Zygarde at lvl 100 if you didn't waste your master ball on another legendary. And when it faints once, if you have to start the process all over again. >_<

Can't wait to see the 0.5 seconds of footage tonight.

Those estimated 10% Zygarde stats are extremely pathetic for a legendary. Having 5 in both defensive stats means it'll never survive in battle at all. Oh and you worked on this article as well eh Nica?

That would be a real letdown if they only showed the original trailer.

I'm guessing they might show that trailer first in order to set the scene. I mean didn't they say we'd see actual gameplay footage?

Unless it's a prank from Serebii, then forget I said anything. :p

By the way, what time is that Japanese show on at tonight?

Doesn't the show usually begin at 7 or 8 AM Japan time Sunday? So for example here for the U.S East Coast that would be 6\7PM U.S.EST.

If what will be shown though is just regurgitated from the Pokemon Direct that would be disappointing. No real gameplay footage of any kind that is. But on the other hand I'll likely take it in stride as I wait for CoroCoro, since the next issue is confirmed for SuMo need regardless.
