News: Pokémon Sun & Moon Officially Announced [Summary of news here!]

April fools is next week, so be even more cautious with any rumors or "leaks".

What makes it even better worse is that the 1st falls on Friday. . .exactly 1 day before the footage airs. . . . It's also likely the video could appear online before that, so I can totally see the real footage appearing on the 1st and everyone dismissing it as a fake.

Man, I actually kind of look forward to april fools this year.

I do remember April Fools being a time that fake leaks tend to happen, but the fact it falls on a Friday this year makes us have to be even more wary. Let's hope people don't rub off the footage as fake if it is official, especially if leaked early. Also, don't believe any leaks of "new" Pokemon until Pokenchi airs or the next CoroCoro leaks happen.

That's why I think we have to be extra wary next week. Even with the corocoro leaks we sometimes get late April fool "leaks".

Oh man, I forgot all about April Fools...

This is gonna all be hilarious and awesome at the same time. All of it. But here's hoping the official website uploads the footage sometime this week before Pokenchi; I've seen several people speculate that this will be the case(including Serebii), because of it saying it will be the first television showing of it.

And that's why we all need to pay attention to sites like Serebii to determine the legitimacy of anything leaked, because if they don't show up on Serebii it's likely they'll be fakes.

There was that one time during Gen V that even Serebii got tricked by fakes, posting that fake grass owl abomination...

I recall that owl. Serebii had learned their lesson since Nintendo threatened them with a cease-and-desist notice over B/W leaks, and have also now become more wary of fakes.

Am I the only one bummed that the long-waited SM news will take place on my last day of Spring Break instead of the possible fake leaks on April Fools (it'll only make me lose focus on my upcoming college work the day after)?

The cease and desist wasn't over a fake, but because they posted the entire pokedex as well as other critical game info before the games were released. Basically, they got their hands on data that they shouldn't have gotten. Serebii being leery of Fakes and the Nintendo fiasco are two completely different issues.

Serebii definitely learned their lesson after that Unova Pokedex dump, but when it came to the Kalos Dex it seems like the ones who found out were only looking at ingame screenshots uploaded onto social media sites by people who bought the games early. The question is, could it happen again?

Here was a summary of all the Kalos Pokemon that we only found out existed via leaked screenshots on sites like Tumblr, Twitter etc.:
Spoiler:

More accurately those who brought from stores that broke the street date. If it had been the early buyers thre would've been a lot more (due to pre-orders).

I recall that during the XY leaks that occurred on Tumblr and Twitter, there was that one guy on Instagram who was revealing stuff and Nintendo confiscated his games so I could imagine them cracking down to the point that we may not see someone breaking street date this time around.

I think a similar issue came up with OrAs, but to a lesser extent. Let's hope that it won't happen again, or that those that get early only drop rumors so that they won't be punished, and we won't be outright spoiled.

I do remember coming across leaked game screenshots on the internet for OR/AS, and I was dripping information relating to the pics, sorta like how I was reporting with the ingame leaks from X/Y. I hope that someone doesn't break the street date again and drop tons of gameplay as a result, because not all of us want to be spoiled and go into the game blind.

Also, I came across this video on YouTube that suggests the release date may be November 27th. That would at least be just before December comes in and we have all the mad rush for Christmas shopping come in.

I suggested it awhile back too. We had two other gens begin on that date (II & III), and we got the remakes the second one mentioned on that same date too.

Speaking of this, I also know September was the most chosen month for the Japanese releases, given all the 4th Gen main games were released in that month, as well as Black & White, with their international releases coming in March the following year. November does have a lot of releases under their name too like you said, not as much as September has given us though.

September seem very unlikely considering the way they framed the release date as late 2016, Winter 2016 (well technically only the 21st of December and until the 31st fits this one), and Holiday 2016.

I know that they're likely aiming for a winter-based month (one which would be when the weather's about to get warmer for me) so that's why I'm likely betting on November, like that guy in the YouTube video mentioned.

Right, Summer 2016 for you in the southern hemisphere.

Found this from one of Joe Merrick's(Serebii) latest tweets, in which he said it wasn't a good sign... implying that the new "footage" is just the Direct video from last month.

Me on the other hand, I think it's best to keep our expectations in check and hope they'll still give us something new. All 3 big wigs from Game Freak are going to be their to talk about the new game, I don't see a reason for them to just show the Direct footage and still not give us something new. Friendly reminder that Joe thought for an absolute certainty that we weren't finished with Gen 6 and we were not moving on to Gen 7 yet... this was prior to Sun and Moon's reveal, and most people took his speculation as gospel.
