Everyone knows about them! They are one of the most useful things in Pokemon! And we all know we use them :p
But what I'm here to talk about is how they are both in one building now. Not sure but i think ORAS separated them back. But in the Unova games and X/Y, they were fused together and formed one giant building for both! Do you like this or do you think they should be separated again?
I think the Pokemon Marts (Poke Mart) should be combined with the Pokemon Center; the design scheme is logical (one-stop place to serve all your everyday Pokemon needs), and the layout is very convenient for the player. I was surprised that
Pokemon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire separated the buildings again (apparently for legacy/nostalgia purposes...?); the building separation was one aspect of
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire that I personally didn't want to return..
The only issue I have with building combination versus building separation is that
the classic "Poke Mart" theme of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire (from what I have read, it has become the go-to "Poke Mart" background music these days) gets harder to incorporate if the Poke Mart is combined with the Pokemon Centers, as it seems to gets relegated to the region's resident Department Store. I'm surprised that
Pokemon X and Y even managed to remix the "Poke Mart theme" and allocated it to some locations despite lacking a proper Department Store/shopping center. My hope was that the Poke Mart's tiles (inside the Pokemon Center) could play the "Poke Mart theme" if they are stepped on, with the Poke Mart being separated from the rest of the Pokemon Center by a sliding transparent door and transparent walls, if the areas need to be made more distinct from each other.
Alternatively, you could make the "Poke Mart" area become the 'second floor' of the Pokemon Centers (since those second-floor mezzanines apparently became depreciated in
Pokemon X and Y..?), so the music could be exclusive to that floor, with the areas still made distinct from each other. I think the Indigo Plateau Pokemon Center in
Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen changes music on the second floor in a similar manner..
Besides, the Elite 4 has always had this setup in the games, why did the regular PokéCenters not?
I thought that the endgame "regional Pokemon League Headquarters" combined the Pokemon Center and Pokemon Marts for the player's convenience, as a reward for making it all the way there. {XD} It also made those buildings feel more "special" compared to other buildings within the same region, I guess - I definitely felt that way about the Hoenn Pokemon League's headquarters in the northern side of EverGrande City!
