FireRed hack: Pokemon FireRed: Bill's Secret Garden v1.3 [HARD MODE Release!]

Quick overview of things I tested for version 1.2:
- Can confirm, Farfetch'd learning Cut at 15, the Seafoam Slowbros and Lucy are all fixed now
- Walk through walls to get to the SS Anne harbor works (you might need to walk onto the water through the close by house first if you don't have surf yet)
- The secret Pokemon can be found,
Spoiler:

- Oak doesn't seem to recognize the National Dex as completed even with 481/481 caught

Now that I'm truly 100% done with it, I can say it was a fun casual romhack and for me personally a good way to refresh my memory of basic FireRed with the bonus of some quality of live stuff and obviously the added Beta Pokemon.

Thanks for making this 👍

The items near the truck near the S.S Anne aren't there for me has it been removed or am i missing something?

I'm gonna guess you're not on Version 1.2. I thought this might be an issue with the map state, like the map loading differently if the SS Anne is there or not. But I just playtested it and the items show up both before and after the SS Anne leaves. Unless there is some weird emulator issue on your end, the version you're playing is the only reason I can think of that the items wouldn't show up.

Just finished the hack and wanted to quickly say that I really enjoyed it, it was a fun little twist on Fire Red and as someone who enjoys wondering about the scrapped Pokemon, it felt very fulfilling to catch them all myself and see them in trainer battles too. Thank you for making it, and out of curiosity, with the recent information about scrapped Gen 3 Pokemon, do you have any plans to update this hack or potentially make an Emerald version featuring any of the scrapped Pokemon there too? I see from your earlier post that you're working on another hack already, so very understandable if the answer is no, you just slotted Gen 2's Betamon in so nicely to this that a hack from you featuring those Pokemon would be especially interesting to me.

So I don't feel like coming back to this hack for any further updates, but the next one I'm working on will likely include some of the more recently leaked Pokemon. I'm not a huge fan of most of the cut Pokemon, at least not as much as the Gen 2 ones, but there are a few I like. Such as the spider lily one or the magnet crab. Still working out the details of how many of them I'll actually include, but it is something I'm considering.

Your choices and implementations in this hack felt great to me so, whatever you do with the recently leaked Pokemon, I'll be very interested to see it, thanks for the answer (:

Finally caught [REDACTED]! You have no idea how happy you've made my inner 10 year old; he used to be part of my regular team back in Gen 1, even if he did mess up my Hall of Fame.

Looking forward to whatever you do next.

Well, didn't think I'd come back, but I figured out a few new things while working on my next project and figured I'd test them out here. Version 1.3 of Bill's Secret Garden is now released! It includes a bunch of smaller changes, like an EV/IV summary screen, an IV tutor, and 3 new Pokémon. But the big change is an optional HARD MODE patch! This pumps up the difficulty to something approximately between Vanilla and Radical Red. Perhaps about the level of a Drayano hack? Not entirely sure, as I haven't had much opportunity to play test it. Happy to hear any feedback about how the difficulty feels!

At some point I'll finally stop coming back to this thing and focus on my new project...

Nice to see that you've added an EV/IV checker and an IV changer! Where's the IV changer located?
And are there any plans for a nature changer? And a way to change your Pokemon's abilities?
Haven't figured out how to add a nature changer yet. Might come back when I figure that out.

The IV changer is in Celadon Mansion, as a small reference to Radical Red. As for ability changing, that's actually been in the game for a while now. There are extra merchants in Fuchsia and Two Island that sell ability changing items.

Where do i get the National Dex? I found the DexNav, but i have zero clue on the National Dex.
It's basically the same as vanilla, you get it from Oak after beating the game. The main difference is I've reduced the number of caught Pokemon required from 60 down to 30. Keep in mind, these need to be Kanto originals to count.

I did remove the evolution restrictions though. You don't need to worry about Scyther or Golbat not evolving because you don't have the national dex.

can fakemon (such as Tangela's pre-evolution) that evolve into Kanto Pokemon count when they evolve?
