PokeStops!

Watertowers, Bridges, Churches and Memorials have been all of them so far.

There was a couple weird ones like memorials that arent there any more and all but they picked good spots so far ^-^

Public art, old buildings, anything with a plaque that says it's old, really. There's one a block away on an old school.

The best one is an old brick building which used to be a hatchery. It gave me my first egg, which turned out to be a Pikachu.

All Pokestops and Gyms are pulled from Niantics other AR, Ingress. they are all portals in Ingress.

All portals in Ingress are submitted by the players and approved before going live. They were always supposed to be places that were manmade and artistic or places where knowledge can be found (so libraries, post offices, churches etc). It was also extended to places of charity, plus a few sponsored locations to make money.

Not all portals have been pulled into Pokemon Go, but it's where all the Pokestops and Gyms come from. If you don't have any near you in your area, it's because there weren't any Ingress players in that area.

The ability to add new portals in Ingress was taken away a while ago as the backlog for approvals was too great. It will be interesting to see if they start allowing submissions in Pokemon Go. I can imagine it won't be for a long time though.

There's a PokeStop and a gym about half mile from my house..on an airport runway. Still unclaimed because you can't get to it without hopping the fence to the airport.

There's another PokeStop and a gym on an old running trail. Completely overgrown and at least once every 2-3 months they find a body there.

Lastly our local gay bathhouse/porn theater is a PokeStop (but it has a picture of a park and says it's a park..it never was a park.)

There's a place in town with two churches right next to each other.

One has a Gym, the other just has a PokéStop.

Maybe one church prayed harder than the other?

Right down the right from where I live there's a pokestop called "Cow" and another called "Field". Oh! And there's a Gym that's actually a fence.

Yeah I'm not being serious.

In our town we have pokestops at the post office, a couple pieces of artwork, a Big Boy, a Murry's auto store has two for the same building, one is the sign and another is a mural painted outside the building.

I've got a few nearby my house, one at our local beach (entrance sign) and a few churches. Then there's some American flag mural painted on someone's house and the playground a few blocks away.

If I go a little further the opposite way I'll find maaany more though.. post office, schools, stores, you name it. Nice to live a few blocks away from a bustling area.

The Pokestop closest to my house is about a 6-7 minute walk, at a church. The rest of the ones downtown are just at random murals and pieces of public art. I live close to many other towns though, so I'm not necessarily deprived, as I pass by many on my way to places.

Hey so i decided to create a google map for pokemon go's pokestops and pokegyms, that everyone can contribute to to improve and expand it. Here's the link:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_UXRpjBItgjiDEoOglRJXhZ3h8o&usp=sharing

Feel free to add any pokestops or gyms you come across to the map. Just locate your city/town and get to marking!
Just try and follow the present key, which is:

PokeStops - light blue circle with the title "PokeStop - *location*"

PokeGyms - Red pin with the title "PokeGym - *location*"

Can you send this link to everyone you know who is into pokemon go?
I really wanna expand this map into something really awesome

I like how they're all spread around like that in New York. It would make wandering around so much more fruitful. Since, you know, that's what the app is trying to get us to do.

Indianapolis has a huge amount of stops and gyms, but they lump them all together - then there are deserts. So you end up with "training spots" around the city; you stick to one place for a while, get bored, and move to the next with really nothing going on in between. It's kind of like training on routes in a way. I guess that's nice too.

I'm nearly around the corner from my future university, so there's TONS. I was there tonight, and there were lures at every fountain, sculpture, and hall entrance... Would have been nice if the game decided to work. Oh well.

Around the place I live, we have a relatively small amount of PokeStops. In the town above me there's about five that I've counted so far. One is a cemetery close to where my grandparents live, one is the town hall, two are churches along the main highway, another is the post office, and there's one more that's a Mexican restaurant or church in old town. In the town I live, there's two... One at a fire department and the other at the post office...

I haven't bothered to check the town to the south of me yet.

My village has three PokéStops that I've managed to find and only one is something I'd consider a 'monument'. One is in a pub (thankfully at the end of my road!), one is on a random sign in the middle of a road (really I can't think of any significance of it at all) and the third is at a WWI memorial statue that we have in the middle of the village. It's possible there are more that I've yet to find but quite slim pickings here!

dude my village has 3 pokestops as well :o

mine are different though, we have a blue plaque, the village hall and a WWI memorial outside the church.

Our local pub is a gym though xD

There's not much in my village itself in terms of Pokestops, but if you walk down to the river there's 3 more stops on our side and another 2 or 3 on the other side with the nearby town. In the town itself there is a buttload of stops, considering that it is just a small market town.

Mostly in my area the Poké Stops are at shops or pubs, and apparently some plaque thing near where I live that I knew nothing about so will be interesting to see what that's for!

There's a Poké Stop and a Gym just a couple minutes walk down the road from my house so that's really cool! Control of the Gym has already changed hands several times today so I know there's other players in the area!

Went to the University and that was swamped with Poké Stops and Gyms so that will be a good place to go often!
