And for Contests:

Tentacruel (or Slowking), maybe Politoed or Lanturn.
Magmortar (if I can still catch Magmar in Ecruteak's Burnt tower...)

Honchcrow if I can get Murkrow earlier.

My potentail line-up will probably be:

  • Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile (at this point I really could careless about the starters)
  • Umbreon
  • Tyranitar
  • Scizor

I'll definitely have more Pokemon than four during the game. If you get to switch over to Kanto and get a completely new starter, I would probably take in that starter into my team and get a Snorlax aswell. xD

You could probably get a Kanto starter when you head over to Kanto to defeat those gym leaders.
 
I <3 Chikorita, so i'll use these Pokémon in-game:

Meganium
Golem

Yes, only two Pokémon. But they work perfectly in the storyline.
 
well on my old Crystal I choose Totodile so this time I might Chikorita or Cyndiquil So I'll post Teams For them both

If I choose Chikorita:

Richu(it's on all my teams exept Diamond and Sapphire)
Xatu/Pidgot/Togakiss
Ambipom/Ursaring
Ninetails/Mamosine
Azumaril/Gyrados

If i pick Cyndiquil

What team are you guys deciding to have on Pokemon HG/SS. I'm thinking about having: Beedrill, Scyther, Slowbro, Arcanine, Dragonite, and Pidgeot.

I'm thinking about having: Meganium, Crobat, Camerupt, Luxray, Blissey, and a Slowking/Slowbro !

Unfortunalety, i dont know if there are any Sinnoh or Hoenn Pokemon in Johto. Also i hope you will get a Happiny Egg or something in this cause, because in G/S/C you can catch Chansey just in Route 14 (after Elite 4) =(

I know I picked two fire types, but I can't help myself, almost all my favorite Pokemon are fire types.

Feraligatr - Jasmine
Arcanine - Bugsy, Chuck, Jasmine
Xatu - Bugsy, Chuck
Sunflora - I need a grass tpe and it's kind of cute
Pikachu - ... I bred me one with VT in DP, so I'm trading it over
Sneasel - Clair
 
Hm. This entirely depends on the Pokédex lineup, and how many non-Johto Pokémon are in it, but in any case I could trade a few over;

Definately posted here before.. But i'm not making many plans. However i will definately use a Typhlosion, without doubt. I'll see how it plays out. I usually can't combine a team in my first play through- i'd start training a team, then find something else i want to put in, so i'd have to train that even more, and i'd end up with a team of under-levelled Pokemon who can't beat the Elite Four. I usually just use my starter. In my first Pearl playthrough, my Torterra was level 81 after i beat Cynthia for the first time. My First LeafGreen playthrough resulted in a level 73 Venusaur, and my first Ruby playthrough resulted in a level 70 Swampert. Sure, i've played GSC, but the remakes don't HAVE to stick with the previous Johto Dex. I'll see what i'm given, and i'll use what i like. Although i'll most likely sweep thru Johto with my trusty Typhlosion the first time around.
 
Mine will be a revamp from my old gold team to my new heartgold team.
