Quaquaval Thoughts

I like it more than Skeledirge, but Meowscarada is my fav of the trio. Still want to try Quaquaval on a playthrough though.
There is no only good option for starters from a gameplay point of view. It largely depends on what you put on the rest of your team after all.

I've had both Meowscarada and Skeledirge on a playthrough team and Skeledirge was lacklaster, frequently dying even. Often unable to deal a finishing blow on time. Doesn't really help it that I had a Fire/Ghost type in Ceruledge on my first SV playthrough and well... Ceruledge is a broken strong Pokemon. Skeledirge just pales by comparison.
Meowscarada on the other hand is broken strong and slapped down even Pokemon that should be good against it. It's type combination having many weaknesses means nothing if it outspeeds and kills everything it faces =P

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with Quaquaval imo.

Yes! I like it. Quaxly is my second favorite from the starter trio in Paldea, largely owing to the anime. It's really cute and I like dance-based moves. I wasn't sure about its evolutions at first but like them all now.. certainly more than Crocalor lol.

Does not mind it too much, personally. Likes the watery tail feathers. Appreciates the idea of more active-looking Pokemon in battle. Dislikes the execution. Comes off as...strange for a battle? Might be the speed of the animation loop. Shrugs.

I haven't used Quaquaval yet, but I think it looks cool and would like to use it sometime. Anyway, I like Skeledirge and Meowscarada more.

I prefer Meowscarada much more, but I did use Quaquaval in Emerald Crest. Carried it from my first gym battle to the Champion and it never let me down. Water/fighting is still unique as your only other option that isn't a legendary/mythical is... Poliwrath and 1 of Tauros' new forms. Quaquaval has a better BST and higher phys. atk than Aqua Breed Tauros. While slower, Quaquaval's signature move aqua step raises its speed by 1 stage after each use and has a better movepool. Being a duck gives it access to flying type moves like brave bird, roost, aerial ace, and acrobatics. I think Quaquaval should be respected and it is a testament to how great all 3 Gen 9 starters are.

Quaquaval is my least favorite of the trio tbh, it's still really good and the concept is interesting, I just like Meowscarda / Skeledirge better.
