I like it more than Skeledirge, but Meowscarada is my fav of the trio. Still want to try Quaquaval on a playthrough though.
There is no only good option for starters from a gameplay point of view. It largely depends on what you put on the rest of your team after all.
I've had both Meowscarada and Skeledirge on a playthrough team and Skeledirge was lacklaster, frequently dying even. Often unable to deal a finishing blow on time. Doesn't really help it that I had a Fire/Ghost type in Ceruledge on my first SV playthrough and well... Ceruledge is a broken strong Pokemon. Skeledirge just pales by comparison.
Meowscarada on the other hand is broken strong and slapped down even Pokemon that should be good against it. It's type combination having many weaknesses means nothing if it outspeeds and kills everything it faces =P
Anyway, there's nothing wrong with Quaquaval imo.
