Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

(last post on this here twilight - sorry)

i wouldnt choose flare blitz if HP is going to be a problem

let it learn recover or have it hold leftovers in that case

i will have its Partner have Recover and both will have Leftovers - last talk of that, any more will be by VM :)

i have seen some good moves as TM - i was wondering can these be transferred from the older games into the new Generation?

Haley if iam right i think its 361

lol i said IF :)
then i think its something like 110-120

What Pokemon is best used to EV train a Pokemon in Speed?
i heard Magikarp was a good choice but i cant seem to find the trainer that has 6 of them
why does he have 6? they dont have any moves other then splash and that does nothing - should be an easy win

The Magikarp trainer is on Route 205. Fly to Eterna, head left. Once you see the water, he is at the top, facing right, IIRC. ^^

Other speed options are Staravia/Pikachu in Trophy Garden, Sneasel on Route 217, and maybe Buizel/Starly/Zubat.

i finally found him, the annoying thing? i went past him like 7 times!
which would be the best option out of the ones you mentioned to get the biggest boost?

if it was just them then maybe i would - do they give move bonus in Speed then Magikarp
as i could just keep battling this dude - Magikarp aint that hard to beat, even for my lvl 1 Smeargle :)
hes Pokerus Cured and has Macho Brace as well :)

Referring to this list, Staravia/Pikachu yield 2 Speed EVs, while Magikarp/Sneasel/Buizel/Zubat yield 1 Speed EV.

If you have a Power Anklet attached and Pokerus infected, then simply battling the Magikarp trainer should be enough after a couple of battles..

Macho Brace
Magikarp: 1 (Speed EV) * 2 (Pokerus) * 2 (Macho Brace) = 1 * 2 * 2 = 4 Speed EVs
Staravia: 2 (Speed EVs) * 2 (Pokerus) * 2 (Macho Brace) = 2 * 2 * 2= 8 Speed EVs

Power Anklet
Magikarp: 1 (Speed EV) * 2 (Pokerus) + 4 (Anklet) * 2 (Pokerus) = 2 + 8 = 10 Speed EVs
Staravia: 2 (Speed EVs) * 2 (Pokerus) + 4 (Anklet) * 2 (Pokerus) = 4 + 8 = 12 Speed EVs (faster)

Pokerus Cured is fine; it still doubles EVs.

is there a place that i can fight Staravia and Pickachu on there own?
i hate having to get into battle, find its the wrong poke leave and try again :)

i need help finding feebas, i know that they only appear in 4 squares in the lake but is there anyway to find one of those four squares easier?

so, been playing diamond a bit more now and have this as my team now :
-monferno
-staravia
-roselia

i was wondering which pokemon would be complentary to this team to make it a good all-around team for gyms and such :)

If it's similar to Emerald, Feebas can be found with the Old Rod with an 80% chance in those 4 squares. So the easiest way would be to fish in each spot in the lake once with the Old Rod, and if you get Magikarp, move on to the next. Watch out, as the spots change every day at midnight.

A Water-type, such as Buizel or Gyarados (if you can be bothered) would make a good addition, especially once you get the Surf and Waterfall HMs. Water-types can also learn Ice-type moves, which are useful against the occasional Dragon-type later in the game. A Ground-type, like Geodude or Gligar (you'll want to use the Earthquake TM on Gligar, though) may come in handy due to their high Defense and the high power of Earthquake. A Fighting-type may be useful, though Staraptor already learns Close Combat; I'd recommend Machop or Meditite. Meditite doesn't learn any physical moves for a while, but once it does, it's worth it.
