[a id]STORY[/a id]STORY

It was a very long time ago... So long no one actually cares remembers. In the olden days, the region of Hoenn was once populated by two types of citizens. They were very different, but they shared something in common: some people from both kinds could all fuse with a Pokémon.

They used a series of small rocks that were soon to be known as Burst Hearts. They were the size of a Pokéball, and could also contain a Pokémon within them.

It was with this item that they performed an act referred to as Burst. Both the user and the Pokémon joined bodies. The host then acquired all capabilities and weakness (as well as some physical traits) of the Pokémon within the Burst Heart.

They were known as Burst Warriors, for they fought and gained experience along with their Pokémon.

Their causes, however, differed quite a bit.

The first sort of citizens fought for the good of all. They were worshipped by their townsfolk, and legends of them were passed along the next generations. They had descendant capable of performing the same techniques with ease, but for some reason they didn't always keep with their Burst Warrior legacies. Soon enough, all in the region had forgotten about them.

The others were all looking for power. They cared only for the strongest (which they considered to be themselves), and had no problem hurting others for their own benefit. They were despised, and eventually they left Hoenn. They settled afterwards in a distant region, and nothing else was to be known about them.

The sun rising on the horizon marks the beginning of a new day. But not any kind of day. Today, you will recieve your first Pokémon, a Pokédex and some Pokéballs. Your delusions journey of grandeur will unfold. You will fight leaders, or win contests. You may end up involved with the mysterious Team Gaia, as well as the Burst Hearts.

As it just so happens, you are one of the myriad descendants of the Burst Warriors that inhabited the land of Hoenn thousands of years ago. You may be able to follow their tradition, but even if this isn't so, you will still play a key role as the malefic Team Gaia wreaks havoc around the land for apparently no reason.

Hoenn: Arceus' forgotten land. People actually care more about Oblivia than they currently do about Hoenn!

Over the course of the last three years, Hoenn has changed considerably. Several islands that had been previously unexplored are now inhabited and, as such, became towns and cities. Several Leaders either retired or were replaced, and some new gym leaders have joined the crew. Caves collapsed, forests eventually connected to faraway places. Overall, new Pokémon became available for people to befriend, train and battle with.

You no longer begin in Littleroot Town. It is not even on the map, for that matter. It eventually merged with the neighboring town of Oldale and ended becoming Birchwood City after some industrialization. This time around, you'll begin in a small island near Mauville City; Isle de Fairnorth. Birch is no longer the Professor of the region, and was replaced by Florence Welch Tularosa, who can be found living in the technological marvel of Mauville. She visits the Fairnorth Isle frequently, and will be there for the next few weeks to grant you your first Pokémon, as well as some Pokéballs and a Pokédex to get you started.

In this specific section you will find all explorable locations of the region of Hoenn. Due to the amount of time that has passed, the region has undegone major changes. First, all routes were renamed, beginning with the one next to Fairnorth, due to the fact that it is one of the richest islands in the entire region. From the very day both Team Aqua and Team Magma disbanded, a man named Thorke was reviewing the plan of both Maxie and Archie, and their many flaws, all of the trends that were followed by the organizations, and why the resurrection of Groudon and Kyogre couldn't have ended any other way.

Firstly, their organizations' names were set after the first letter of their name. That was very stupid to begin with. What was he going to call his organization then. TEAM TERRA?! That's the dumbest name for a team I've ever heard!

Uniforms. Red and blue for Magma and Aqua, respectively. It became obvious to detect which grunt belonged to which team by just looking at their uniforms. If he decided to go unnoticed, then there could only be one possible answer: no uniforms. That way no one could be able to tell who is a member of his team, and who is nothing but an innocent bystander.

The list of flaws goes on to no end. If he was to take over Hoenn, then he shouldn't follow these dumb trends, nor should he target any Pokémon from the weather trio for the purposes of expanding oceans or landmasses... That's way to dumb to be considered "evil".

But first a name. Something simple. 4 letters perhaps? What about Gaia... Yes, Gaia it shall be. Now, an explanation for what their actual goals are, which you are OBVIOUSLY unnaware of, AM I RIGHT?! Of course I am. I'm always right, you sillypants.

1. Rayquaza. Waking Groudon and Kyogre would always end in his interruption. This probably would also apply with all other anomalies in the region. As such, Rayquaza poses a threat against Gaia. It must be taken down if any significant amount of progress wants to be achieved.

2. Giratina. Whilst its location as of now remains clouded in mystery after it was caught by a Trainer of Sinnoh, its hometown, the Distortion World, still remains. It was once said that there was a set of ruins that were somehow linked to the Ruins of Alph, Spear Pillar and Sinjoh Ruins. It was also rumored that this ruins ecased what was said to be the "gateway to another world". Should the first goal be accomnplished, and the ruins found, the Distortion World would serve as a jail of sorts for those who oppose them in their rise for power.

3. Kyurem. A last resort of the team. Should both plans fail, they would then try to seek another truth, another ideal, another legendary Pokémon. Should their rise be frustrated, then they would get their hands on Kyurem, a legendary Pokémon said to be able to freeze an entire region in a matter of seconds. If they were to resist their forces, then they would be impaled for their foolishness, and a world of pain and suffering would unfold around them...

Along their many plans, there is yet another to be noted. Scientists from Gaia have managed to perfect the gene-splicing techniques that were once used in Cinnabar Island (located somewhere in the Kanto Region). Add them to some genetic enginery, and you get decent results instead of a Pokémon full of rage that is anxious to kill everything. Like a Lotad that is anxious to kill Gigi Luca everything or something. They were denominated Mutts, because these scientists like The Hunger Games... a lot.

Below will be a list of all known Mutts, as well as a description and areas of Hoenn where you could find them. Don't fight them if you can avoid it. You're gonna die if you do. On second thought, go ahead, make my day.

BROTAD​

Said to be the results of genes of several legendary Pokémon in a Lotad host. Brotad possesses a ridiculously high IQ, equal to two supercomputers (take that, Metagross!) or possibly more, and a pair of badass sunglasses. It can also somehow possess two different abilities, whose effects can apply at once. Its movesets are no longer those of a normal Lotad. And, as per all awesome Pokémon, it can speak to people through (you guessed it) telepathy. Because plot, that's why!

I guess it was already time to get the annoying-ass stuff of the RP. You should know how it rolls by now. Levels, moves and the like.

First off, levels are gained at the discretion of the GMs. The amount of levels will be based on both the levels of your Pokémon and your opponents, as well as the amount of species fought, and the overall quality of your post. We're paranoid, but it'll make training your Pokémon less game-breaky.

It will be up to you to keep track of moves. No moves are forgotten as Pokémon level up unless you want them to be (or your Pokémon is an idiot). This implies that you'll be able to use Tackle with a Level 98 Swampert.

No areas are to be accessed until the GMs post about them in the IC Thread. In case you're done with a current area, make sure to tell the GMs so that they don't keep you waiting.

Full Name: Mikoto Kawasaki

Age: 17

Appearance: Mikoto is of average height - around five foot ten inches - and has been known to be a 'health nut,' leading to his slim, yet not-very-muscular physique. His skin is the pigment of the typical caucasian, though he easily tans so his everyday roamings-about of the Pokemon world eventually leads to his skin gaining a slightly browned tint that, unfortunately, fades after an extended period out of direct sunlight. Despite caring very much about his appearance, he almost constantly keeps the right side of his amber-to-hazelnut colored hair in a state of slight disarray, reminiscent to that of Karin, while the left side is 'pruned and proper' at all times.

Mikoto's angular jaw line tapers into a rugged, narrow chin. His lips are somewhat on the medium-sized side, and very kissable, as well as not at all uncomplimentary. Said lips wrap around a set of teeth perfected in alignment by two full years of braces. His nose is meek in comparison to the other features on his face, but still noticeable nonetheless. His almond-shaped, light green eyes sit in the middle of a wide set brow, topped with lanky, light-brown eyebrows. His bangs' tips fall ever so slightly against his mid-length eyelashes.

Mikoto prides himself on always being on top of the latest and greatest in the fashion industry, despite generally having a low amount of money at his disposal at any given time. Mikoto usually changes his outfit to something entirely different every time he is seen walking about his hometown, but now that he is a blooming Pokemon trainer, he has decided to settle on a simplistic outing wear. The garb consists of a pair of dark denim jeans and a charcoal gray cardigan with a shawl collar over a white v-neck. This is Mikoto's nicest, and oldest, outfit he owns, not to mention his favorite! He sure does turn the eyes of every crowd.

Personality: Possibly Mikoto's most explicit trait is his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder when it comes to not only organization, but asymmetry, which, in its own rite, is very contradictory. He finds it odd when certain things are similar from every angle because 'Arceus didn't build in straight lines' or something like that; nobody particularly understands Mikoto's line of thinking.

Besides, for the most part, Mikoto tends to run a solo show and try to stay away from cliques or crowds, which is why he hasn't retained many of his childhood friendships. Around the age of fourteen, he started to become anti-social and more into finding ways to change the people he did socialize with in ways such as cleaning up their so-called 'messy habits,' which eventually ran his only remaining anchors away. He was effectively self-converted into a pariah.

Despite shying away from human interaction as much as possible, living with his homosexual friend Richter and his young father for so long somewhat influenced, or more appropriately brought about, Mikoto's sexual interests/preferences. Mikoto often finds himself staring too long at a young, dashing fellow crossing his path, though he's not quite ready to jump toward any one 'label' yet regardless at what he thinks about or tends to gravitate towards.

Something Mikoto is sure of is his profound distaste for anything bitter. Any time Mikoto sits down at a restaurant, you can find him ordering sweet tea or some other sugar-lined drink in order to curb his sweet tooth. Spicy foods are also a no-no. After ignorantly indulging in an enormous mouthful of a Tamato Berry when he was younger, leaving his tongue numb for weeks, he's never had a real taking for spicy foods. His friend's father took him out to an Indian-restaurant one night and found out the hard way that Mikoto heavily disliked spicy food of any kind.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, as stated before, Mikoto is very fond of sweet things. His teeth and healthy stature are no example, but he can be found eating candy ninety percent of the time since there's a small candy cart a couple of blocks down from where he lives that sets up on Saturdays. He stocks up for a couple of weeks and organizes small bags to carry around with him. It's quite insane, really! On top of this, since Richter has absolutely no idea that he eats candy on a regular basis and is still used to the 'health nut' image he puts on, he eats fruits and other healthy things in public or around Richter and his father. Everyone has a weakness!

Background: When Mikoto was four years old, he was on a plane due for his hometown after a father son vacation, the plane experienced a hellacious amount of turbulence that brought the plane down into the ocean around Isle de Fairnorth. The crash was within miles of the inland, so rescue flocked quickly, but it was too late for 90% of the passengers. Mikoto survived, but, unfortunately, his father did not. His father was Mikoto's only real emotional connection in his life besides his mother and best friend Richter, and even then his mother was always away from home on duties as a Pokemon Ranger in Hoenn.

With the news of his father's death, Mikoto's mother couldn't handle coming around Mikoto again due to emotional stress, and eventually disappeared off the face of the Earth. Mikoto was required to live in the local Trainer School as a boarding student for six years. When Mikoto turned ten, he applied for a Trainer's License, and when he was released from the school, he met with and lived with a friend, who did not want to be a trainer at the time, for the next five years of his life, burning his license to seal the arrangement. Mikoto had no intention to go out into the real world, and his only remaining emotional connection to anything besides Pokemon, his OCD, and fashion, was his best friend.

Despite the personal hindrances he's essentially created himself, Mikoto has always had a special love for Pokemon, but not necessarily on an emotional level. Mikoto enjoys being around Pokemon, but he thinks of them as humans in the sense that too many is not a good thing. His household pet, Meowth, has always been about as much as he could handle. In Trainer School, when he was forced to surround himself by Pokemon when living there and starting classes, Mikoto outright lost his bearings and insisted that he isolate himself. Only when reunited with his Pet Meowth did Mikoto regain his sense of awareness and continue living. Nowadays, Mikoto is more collected and finally prepared to go on his journey, despite still having a fear of association with other people.

Starter Pokémon: Mikoto's starter Pokemon, Eevee, nicknamed Kirara, was the only Pokemon he thought contrasted with his personality enough to be an enjoyable partner. He was interested in breaking free from his monotonous, day-to-die life and to add to that, a partner that would make things interesting made the most sense to him. Kirara tends to be very outgoing and wild, pretty consistently finding a way to run a distance away from Mikoto simply in order to just skitter about or socialize with other wild Pokemon. Being a wild spirit, Kirara tires itself out easily, and tends to sleep wherever it falls.

Mikoto's Meowth stays with Richter's dad at home since it's taken a liking to him and was never fond of battling or showing off in contests or anything except eating and sleeping, really. Richter has always hated cats, so when he left to compete in Pokemon Contests, he was happy not to see Mikoto 'lugging around the dumb thing.'


I worked on this off and on for a few hours, and still didn't end up being a whole lot so sorry about that. :( I also didn't feel like 'ermahgerd' worked well into his history, so I avoided adding it.

I see no problem with his name or backstory. You're right, the ermagerd didn't belong there xD But you pointing it out is proof enough that you read the rules for me so it's okay :D

His personality could be worked on. Likes? Dislikes? His opinion on Krabby's immortality? Any other quirks?

All I can see is that he apparently turns eyes of the crowd, but has no eyes of his own. [ADHD] Can I imagine him as literally eyeless!? I totally want to! Oh, and a few things about his personality that Beaty picked up on initially — for one, the likes and dislikes; he has none of either, as it seems. His social preferences and inner workings are there, but does he possibly have a weakness for girls, or does the idea of being confronted by a man with a rugged chin and suave voice get him going? (He's seventeen! He's thought of it at least once!) Is a berry right up his alley, or does he prefer to chow down on deerling for dinner?

More importantly, how has his dad's death and his mother's subsequent disappearance affected his development? (PM Beaty or me about his mother if you have something goin' on with that, 'cause I'm positive you have something in mind.)

Also, why didn't he take Meowth? Meowth must be holding a grudge against Eevee or something. You don't need to take a listed starter if you have a good reason, like a pet Meowth that kept him sane going through school.

Full Name: Jeff Miles (He prefers to be called Jay.)

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Jeff looks like your typical book worm in a way: pale and thin, but despite his nonathletic build he has the broad shoulders of a man far beyond his physical capabilities and girth. He is almost exactly 6 feet with once-upon-a-time golden hair that is now dirty blond from all the time he spent inside reading and sharp green eyes. He has a very average nose, perfect teeth, very few freckles dusting either cheek. All-in-all he's very handsome in a way that's a little boyish for his age.

Jeff isn't too picky as far as regular clothes go, whatever's comfortable, but his favorite clothes are a pair of blue baggy pants with ample pockets and a white T-shirt with a picture of a boat shaped like a Wailmer and captained by a Lucario with a grinning Sableye for a first mate. He also likes to wear a necklace with a brass block of cheese between it, it's a little worn after what it's been through but he keeps it because he loves cheese and it has good memories attached to it.

Personality: Jay is a very nice person, always willing to see the best in people and not being very judgmental as long as the person in question wasn't bothering anyone. He has a very good vocabulary that is mostly self taught from all the reading, a skilled and eloquent speaker...except for when it comes to pretty girls of course. Being a naturally shy person in the first place Jay has a really hard time talking to pretty girls, the first couple of times at least. Once the girl was safely categorized as a friend in Jay's head he'd be fine talking to her, although he would be to afraid to confess any romantic feelings, neither does he know how to react to such feelings from a girl.

Above all else Jay loves pokemon, he sees them as the creatures the run the world much more than people, and abhors any sort of mistreatment directed at one, the only reason he doesn't approve of pokemon battles is because most of the time they can be fun for the pokemon and they fight in the wild anyways. Jay is naturally sarcastic and it shows, he doesn't like to bother people and as such he is in fact more civil around strangers and shows is snarky attitude the more familiar he is with someone. Partly as a result of his stories and partly just from his nature Jay puts an almost zealous value on friendship, he hasn't had any good friends for the most part but nonetheless he cares more about any friends he does have more than pretty much anything else. Jay also LOVES eating and cooking, especially when it comes to cheese and has very sensitive taste buds and a strong nose, the only reason he's thin is because he's got such a high metabolism. Even though he's lazy he still likes to cook for other people, having many a cheesy dish waiting to greet his parents when they get home from work.

Background: Jay has had a fairly boring life, he was interested in pokemon from the day he opened his eyes. He had the bad luck though of having parents who wanted a safe life for their child, the most dangerous thing they were willing to let go on was sports, and not even football. To make matters worse Jay wasn't interested in sports so short of when he was a little kid just running around with the other kids he didn't have a lot to do. Eventually Jay stopped insisting books were for 'old people' and began to read, both saving his sanity and feeding his imagination. His parents may not have wanted him to have a pokemon but reading about them was different, so he read all sorts of pokemon books ranging from facts to fantasies to true stories about the most influential trainers shaping the world(He never understood why most of them seemed to be named after colors or objects).

When Jay hit 10 money started getting tight for his family so his mom had to forego staying at home in favor of being able to afford to keep it, so he took advantage of his cooking talents to have fresh food usually waiting for his parents when they got home. One day his father brought home a necklace with a brass block of cheese hanging from it, saying it made him think of Jay and that it was uniqe, suffice it to say Jay was not impressed, but he wore it to keep his dad happy. The first truly eventful thing to happen in Jay's life all started when he asked his dad one day after getting home from work how the Fettuccine Alfredo was, prompting his father to ask if he was sure he hadn't gotten hungry and eaten it himself.

The strange phenomena of vanishing food continued in the Miles household until the day Jeff heard the plate he had put his mother's herbs turkey and cheese hero on clatter to the ground. But by the time he made it into the kitchen there was just an empty plate with a bite taken out of it next to a trail of condiments on the floor leading out to the garage his parents never closed the door of, making it obvious what the culprit was: a hungry pokemon. The next day Jay rigged up a pretty sloppy snare, figuring he was wasting his time and the pokemon wouldn't keep stealing from people who knew it was coming, little did he know how impossible it was for the 'criminal' to resist it's hunger. About an hour before his mother was due home that day Kay heard a loud crash and ran into the kitchen staring up at where he knew the food thief would be if his trap worked. The snare had work...but it had also snapped at the weight of the culprit, and when Jay looked down what he saw surprise him. There on his kitchen floor face flat, was what appeared to be a small almost hairless bear, that lifted it's head to reveal a round face with a sort of natural face and uttered one single sound, a bright happy "Munch!" Before it's eyes focused on Jay's necklace and it snapped it up like a fish, it took 7 minutes of wrestling to get the fake cheese away from the pokemon, but Jay wasn't angry because he was sure the Munchlax would just get away like last time, it wasn't nearly as slow as one would expect.

Jay didn't know how to deal with the little Munchlax...it was too clueless not to come back if he sent it away and he couldn't stand the thought of hurting a pokemon so obviously the most logical conclusion was to keep it and continue to feed it. Predictably Jay's parents did not share his sentiment, but he was done being agreeable, he hadn't complained about not being allowed to become a trainer for a long time but he'd be damned if they wouldn't even let him have a pokemon as a pet. Life actually went back to being normal and uneventful for a while, at least until Jay's seventeenth birthday, when he declared he was going on a journey whether his parents liked it or not, even if he had to get a job just to buy a pokeball for Romanov. This time Jay's parents didn't argue, not only because they felt he was old enough to take care of himself, but also because they were all too happy to get the greedy sentient garbage disposal unit out of their house. As Jay got farther away from his childhood home and the waving silhouettes of his parents faded away he realized something...he had no idea where to start. Luckily a kindly old neighbor noticed Jay had his backpack on and asked if he was on his way to see the 'fancy professor lady' who was presently visiting Mauville. Not wanting to look like as much of an idiot as he felt Jay quickly said that was exactly what he was off to do, and continued walking, whistling a jovial tune to himself the rest of way and lovingly patting the new pokeball on his belt.

Starter Pokémon: Romanov

the very Munchlax that burgled Jays lovingly cooked meals when he was younger. Romanov is not lazy like most 'Laxes', although he's just as hungry. In fact Romanov loves running around and interacting with other creatures, he only even sleeps when Jay does. Romanov is intelligent deep down, but he's oblivious and his attention wanders easily. Romanov got his name from how much he reminded Jay of bears rooting through people's homes for food in lands with no pokemon, and from which of the mythical countries could train bears to be lifelong friends and guardians just like pokemon.

Name: Sara Lain
Age: 16
Gender: Female

Appearance: Sara is a very brightly dressed girl, she loves to wear solid colors mostly green and blues. She likes to have designs of normal type Pokemon on her hairband that holds back her long brown hair. She never wears a dress, always wearing t-shirts and jeans or skirts are typical. Her eyes are hazel complementing her gentle facial features. She is lean and fit, favoring to be slender and cut rather than big and bulky to easily maneuver. Her belief that the more she wears, the less efficient it is to do her art, thus she prefers simple clothing; though she always carries a jacket in her backpack for things such as a makeshift blanket or rain guard. On the other hand she loves to decorate her hair, putting all manner of beads and clips to make it look pretty to her. She also wears sneakers meant for running whenever she goes outside.


Personality: She is the exact opposite of calm, always eager to move to the next place. Her problems stem from this inability to have patience. She is reckless in a battle and usually wins from last ditch efforts and avoidance. She herself is a proficient hand-to-hand fighter and can hold her own in a fight. She is not aggressive though and is polite to adults, though she sees herself as superior to people her own age. She has an odd obsession with normal type pokemon. She trains hard and prefers not to always use pokemon unless it is against other pokemon. She also has bad spending habits; tending to overspend, slowing her journey as she often needs to find miscellaneous jobs in cities. She doesn't know how to live on the land so she often tries to rush to cities and towns as fast as possible to escape camping out. If she does get caught outside she doesn't mind resorting to sleeping against a tree though she never likes to stay in forests.

She loves: Training, Normal Types, Fighting, Kindness, and talking
She hates: Gangs (specifically Cipher), using pokemon to fight (she likes to fight, not watch fights), the phrase "oh-meh-gerd", lazy days, and lazy attitudes.
She fears: Forests (but not bug/dark types, just being in a forest), and the thought of being critically injured (which she sees as worse than death)


History: Sara came from Pyrite Town in Orre when she was 12. In Orre she would constantly have to fight pro-Cipher kids and sometimes even aggressive shadow pokemon because she would snoop around and steal from them in the Under. Sara herself despised Cipher and what they did to pokemon. She was asked by the Kids Grid to assist them but didn't see their methods as useful and declined. Her mother was a traveling entertainer acrobat; and she wanted Sara to follow in her footsteps. So at the early age of 5 Sara's mother taught Sara and trained her. Sara then created her own crude martial art out of the skills her mother taught her to help defend herself, furthering the problems she caused in the Under. Her mother didn't like how she was fighting so much and especially worried when she came home with bruises. One day a cipher admin told her mother that if they didn't leave they would hurt Sara. Her mother took this as a chance to get away and convinced the admin to pay for them to leave to Hoenn.

Moving to Hoenn meant Sara couldn't fight against Cipher but her mother convinced her that living here was the only safe way they could live. Even in their modest apartment in Mauville City Sara's mom is happy, Sara on the other hand spent two years angry and training so she could one day go back to Orre. But then she heard of a new group here in Hoenn, one that uses weapons to hurt people and special pokemon. She reasoned that they were more dangerous than Cipher and is dedicated to taking them down. She convinced her mother that this was her reason for being there, and reluctantly her mother agreed on one condition: only if she would bring pokemon to help her. Her mother reasoned that a pokemon would be safer than going alone and may make her a better trainer (Her mother wanted Sara's goal to change to pokemon master or contest competitor). Sara happily accepted and began to become more like herself, training out of drive instead of anger. She perfected her fighting style and spent her time looking for a pokemon. The one problem she had with that was, she couldn't purchase a pokeball because her family didn't have enough money even with all the odd jobs she did and the money sent from her father in Orre (who was a scientist working on making Orre more habitable for pokemon, he also was originally from Hoenn).

After hearing that there might be a professor in Hoenn that could get her a pokemon, Sara packed her bags and left for the island she was to meet her at.


Pokemon: Female Skitty. (Although Sara seems like a fighting type trainer, she loves normal type pokemon, mostly due to their versatility and for the most part being rather cute to her). Skitty is a very active pokemon, who enjoys activity as much as Sara does. She gets along well with Sara because they both love to train hard, though Skitty is somewhat mischievous and often steals from other trainers. Skitty also dislikes contests, dressing up, or otherwise being pampered.
