I've gotten some really stupid and crappy rep comments, and most of them are negative. I simply have very little tolerance for them, so I always report them when I get them. (it may annoy the admins, but I'd like to see idiots who cant give proper rep comments boiled in acid. >O )
It really grinds my gears when some n00b hides behind rep and uses it to flame a person needlessly
Here's my guideline to giving proper rep:
Good Rep can be given for:
- Well written posts
- Posts which sum your opinion up perfectly, thus saving you from having to say it yourself.
- Posts which are helpful, or kind.
Bad rep is for:
- Posts with poor grammar
- Posts full of chatspeak, misspelled words, and censor bypass (which should also be reported on)
- Posts that are flaming others. (Note: Don't say anything more than something like "You really shouldn't flame people" and report the post if you think it's worth reporting)
- Posts that generally break any rules. (Note: be courteous and state the rule, dont say something like "OMG YOU ST00PID N00B!!" or anything that could be considered flaming)
- Posts which are OBVIOUSLY offtopic
You should never give any rep for:
- 'Not reading your post'. Understand that not all of us have time to read EVERY post in the thread. Most people only read the first few posts, and the last few posts to get an idea of what's going on. I don't care how annoying it is, DON'T REP FOR IT! Just reply to them in a post or VM and ask "Did you read my post?...." If they flame you, it's them in trouble.
- Disagreeing. I don't care how much you disagree with someone. It's borderline flaming to neg rep someone for their own opinions.
- If a staff member has already taken care of the thread. Don't bother repping the post(s) which break rules.
