Nope, there are several other moves they can learn.
E.g dragonite can learn punches straight after evolution, but couldn't as a dragonair as it had no arms. He literally teaches them a move, no makes them remember.

eh?
doesn't that mean elekid can learn ice punch and cross chop from the tutor?
cos everyone is saying you have to have egg moves with elekid...

That was just a hypothetical situation, im not one for breeding and the like.

No there are some moves pokemon can learn from that tutor, Dragonite learns the elemental Punches (Apart from Ice). Dusclops also learns them, Torterra learns wood hammer this way.

Egg moves are egg moves and must be bred onto the pokemon.

I've thought of an idea that I think can prove rather useful.

Taking a look at Lucario, we've seen many variations from Band to Specs to the "Strike first" set I've seen (Swords Dance, Extremespeed, Bullet Punch, Vacuum Wave).

What about a mixed Scarf set? Would this be possible, and is it even a new idea? It hit me a little earlier, and I wanted to see if it's possible. Here's what I was thinking, but probably way off.

Lucario@Choice Scarf
Hasty/Naive
100 speed (to hit speed ties with Aerodactyl and Jolteon), and unsure of rest.

Close Combat
HP Fire (Skarm and Forretress)
Dark Pulse/Dragon Pulse
Stone Edge

I'm lost in the moveset and EVs, but if anyone has a clue on how this can work, please post a set.

Don't tie Jolteon and Aero, beat them (especially since Aero will destroy you).

I'd go all-special or all-physical, otherwise the power will be minimal.

I was thinking mainly special with Close Combat to easily down Blissey and T-Tar; also, it'd majorly dent Jolteon.

Lucario@Choice Scarf
Hasty nature
104 speed (NOW I'm faster. lol 394.5 speed if max speed IV)/252 sp. atk/154 atk (could invest a little more in speed to outrun scarf-cross and remove from this.)

Close Combat
Dragon Pulse
Dark Pulse
HP Fire (Skarm and Forry)/Electric (Dent up Gyarados some.)/Grass (Water/Grounds)

Yeah, you'll want to beat ScarfCross and nail it with HP fire or whatever...though I know HP Fire is like, barely a 2HKO.

Whoops, should've put some cover over Heracross; how's this.

Lucario@Choice Scarf
Hasty
blahblah EVs above

Close Combat
HP Ice (Dragon coverage + others)
Psychic
Dark Pulse

This might be a lil better. I was also thinking of a Metal Sound variation, but I'm clueless on Timid or Modest and EVs.

Psychic ONLY hits heracross...IMO not worth it. It can't take repeated assaults, especially with sand stream/hail and/or SR/spikes damage on top of that, so I wouldn't worry so much.

Ok so 'm crazy enough to try a Beautifly Special Sweeper 8D

Beautifly @ Leftovers
252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest
- Bug Buzz
- Roost
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball

By gosh I'm crazy o.0

is this usable in competitive battling?

dragonite with

30 IV - hp
27 - att
31 - def
27 - spd

is this usable? or do i have to have 31 in att and spd?

does it matter if i don't have 31 IV's in att or speed
because i heard dragonite (might be from you) will be out speed by garchomps/salamences.

It gets out sped by those anyways, unless you dragon dance before hand.

No as for the speed, 27 is good, its usable as long as the ivs is in the high 20's.

oh, thanks, i guess i better start EV training

how should the EV's be spread on a T-tar? (new assinment)
i'm thinking 252 att, 252 spd and 6 hp?
i looked at the movesets and it's mainly physical attacks.
so what is a gd moveset? =?

Tyranitar@Leftovers / Life Orb
Jolly / Naive Nature (With ice Beam) Nature
252 SPEED / 252 ATT / 6 HP
- Taunt / Stone Edge / Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance

Ice Beam OHKO's Garchomp and Gliscor, 2hkos Hippowdon and Donphan(The most common switch ins to T-Tar) even coming from a Jolly Nature but only with life Orb, You may run Naive nature to power Ice beam up though. Taunt stops Idiot Skarmory and stuff from Whirlwinding you and trying to status etc and makes them mere set up fodder. Stone Edge for STAB and better coverage, but leaves you open to phazing status etc..

Dragon Dance to make you beastly. On this set speed evs and Jolly let you outrun Timid max speed Azelf, Starmie, Raikou etc after a single Dragon Dance.

This requires Crunch to go along with Earthquake as it provides great coverage.

Umbreon@Leftovers
Impish
252 HP, 196 Def, 60 Spd

Mean Look
Toxic / Taunt
Wish
Baton Pass

Mean Look to trap the opponent, then either Toxic to start to wittle down the health, or Taunt so it cannot stat up etc. (Which many leads tend to do, Yanmega springs to mind, Protect it cannot) Wish to pass on health on the switch, then BP to something that can defeat the opponent. Works great on a Baton Pass team.
