I need some information on a Hail based team. Is it good in this metagame? I expect it to be so-so since Sandstorm can be more effective. I'm not exactly sure what to use in it besides Abomasnow.

I need a nature for Torkoal please select 1 of the following: Impish, Adamant, lax, Rash, Modest, Mild.

It is for Emerald, i have already caught 24x Torkoal and still not a nature that i want so i have decided to take one nature of the above one's.

Edit: Its just for a little while.

Augh, that's horrible. What will Thunder do that Thunderbolt won't? & it's so fragile, it won't last for a wasted Rain Dance. This is my set:

Raichu@Focus Sash
Nature:Timid
Thuderbolt
Grass Knot
Focus Blast
Nasty Plot
EV:252 SP.ATK, 252 SPD

This is basically the basics. When you learn about breeding, if you care, you can get better moves to replace Focus Blast. But you can abuse Focus Sash to charge up Nasty Plot, then proceed to sweep the team. Don't concern yourself with anything fancy until you learn this set right now.

I am rather new to competitive battling. I dont really have anyone to battle with other than my Girlfriend. Also I believe those are moves from D/P I have The advanced Gen games

and I am on Fire Red at the moment, She is playing Leaf Green.

Sorry, I can't really help you outside of competitive, but to be honest, if it's just for your girlfriend, anything is fine.

Second, I don't care for sigs, getting snippy won't get you much help. You should have put that in your post from the start.
 
Sorry If you thought I was gripin at you, just in general. Secondly , you have a sig your self but you dont care for them?

I want to get into competitive battling, I just dont have the extra $ to buy 2 DS systems, and A Copy of Each Diamond and Pearl, so I am just going to train my team on the GBA Games and go to the video game cafe in Town to battle.
 
I mean I don't care for other people's sig. Of course I'm gonna spice up mine, but why should I worry about others? You gotta make you're post clear. For all I know, you were planning on buying D/P.

Why would you need both Diamond and Pearl, & two DS's? I only--no, most people only--own one version of the game. All you really need.

There is a compettitive ground for Advance, but I'm not too keen on it.
 
Because, My girlfriend is the one that got me back into pokemon. I quit playing back in 2000 or 2001 I know the last game I played before Fire Red was Silver.

So I would have to get a DS and Either Diamond or Pearl for her.

Regardless, there is a metagame for Advance, quite good. I'll ask a member who is more experienced about it to tell you when he comes. Cool?

Manectric is one of my fave pokes.

Manectric@Life Orb / Petaya Berry / Nothing
36 HP / 252 Sp.A / 220 Spe
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam / Substitute / Thief / Light Screen / Thunderwave
- Flamethrower
- hidden power Ice / Hidden power Grass
- Thunderbolt

First slot can raise your sp.att in Charge Beam. Substitute allows you to scout and you can also use it to activate petaya berry, which is what it should be used in conjunction with. Thief screws up walls by stealing their leftovers and should be used with no hold item. Light Screen Gives you team support, whilst Thunderwave cripples whatever comes in.


You also need a Hidden power to add to this set, and to his poor movepool, hidden power Ice gives great coverage alongside thunderbolt and Flamethrower and Hits ground types hard, aswell as dragons. Hidden power Grass is mainly for the likes of Swampert, Gastrodon, Rhyperior and Golem. Plus it hits Lanturn who resists the Electric/Fire/Ice combination.


The ev spread hits 330 Speed. It also bumps Manectric's HP to 290, so Petaya Berry activates after three Subs.

If your crazy enough Manectric against OU teams, bump his Speed up to 334 so he can outrun Jolly Garchomp.

You realize that there is something called the PM system if you want a certain member to rate your pokemon? :/
 
Don't forget the double status set, replacing one of the last three in for Hypnosis or T-Wave.

There's one tiny little detail you're forgetting...Pinsir doesn't get Guts :/
