Quilava / Typhlosion cannot learn Explosion. Focus Punch so you're not walled by Snorlax / Blissey / Heatran.

sorry I meant eruption. And since it hits two opponents, it would be handy in two on two battles right? and any advice for a hold item?

  • Here's your standard fare Typhlosion

    Scarf lead
    Typh@Choice Scarf
    Mild or Rash
    144atk/252sp.atk/112 speed

    Eruption
    Focus Punch
    Overheat/Will-o-Wisp
    HP Ice/Earthquake

Typhlosion is a great starter with a massive 150 BP Eruption at hand, and it will always start at full power thanks to it leading and SR isn't out yet. Focus Punch with the atk EVs 2HKOs Blissey easily. Overheat takes place for the main STAB when Eruption gets weak, but Will-O-Wisp is always fun to toy with. HP Ice is strongly perferred over Earthquake, but it does destroy Flash Fire Pokemon like Heatran and Houndoom easily.

Could this work on a trick room set?

Because thats what choice band does. It limits you to one move and increases the power of that move by 1.5 (50%), you can switch moves when you switch out.

    It randomly chooses the move?

Standard means like...a certain generic set.

    E.g;

    Gengar@Choice Scarf
    Levitate
    4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Modest/Timid
    Shadow Ball
    Focus Blast
    Trick
    HP Ice / Thunderbolt.

^ That's pretty much what a standard set for Gengar is.

So like on the regular/common ground?

I know he's rare nowadays, but wouldn't Skarmory be a great switch-in to Scizor?

Yep its a pretty decent check/counter to it.

However, watch out for the occasional LO SD Super Power

    66.17% - 77.54%

252 hp / 200 def skarmory takes that from adamant +2 LO Super Power

Just stay at high health and sure.

  • Heracross and Lucario are two big ones in that line. Get a Sub, Swords Dance, and then try to Sub down to a Salac Berry, and proceed to sweep.

  • does anyone know a pokemon who can use sub and setup sword dance apart form garchomp.
Heracross, Gliscor, Infernape, Lucario, Scizor, Weavile, Rhyperior, Leafeon...

Yeah, those came to mind first. ._.; There's over a hundred Pocket Monsters that can learn Swords Dance + Substitute if I recall correctly, just gotta find what you need in terms of resistances, etc and who fits the niche in that slot of your Battle Tower team.

Can I have a good moveset for a Special Sweeper Gengar please? I'm thinking of Thunderbolt, Shadow ball, Focus Blast and Will O Wisp.
