Okay last night I was working on my wireless trade post, and during It I became pretty tired. So I had to post it as I was already so far into it, but not nearly as far as I wanted.

    So it made me think....

What about a rough draft of your thread like-storage. Like say your making the post and you save it to post for later.

Now I have no clue wether this is even possible, but it would be very nice for long threads we could rough draft and save for later.

    What do you think?

Hmm. I wonder how many people would actually use it, though? It wouldn't be devastatingly hard to do, I just wonder if we actually put the time into doing it, how many people would benefit from it.

If only a handful of people would even use a save-as-draft feature, it probably wouldn't be worth the time. :x

I could see how it could be useful for certain things, particularly in RPing and the writing sections, definitely.

See, most of the RPing and fan fic posts are done on MS Word to avoid spelling disasters ec cetera, so I think that it wouldn't help the decent people that are posting their fan fics or their RP posts.

Yeah I see what you mean... It'd probably wouldn't be touched in certian sections.

Maybe allow it in certian places where it would be useful, as like you said. Some of us post leven post long threads in S&M, maybe even that too....
Im not sure though that could defeat the purpose only in some, though...not sure.

Anyways, I could see how not many would use it. I don't know if this is possible either... But maybe test it and see how it goes for like a month? Show how many people actually would use it?

It would certainly help those who visit during school hours, I mean they could use it to finish a post they start to type before the bell rings.
I know I would most likely use it.

hmm.. can be done if there is enough user demand:

    vB Drafts
    Description

This modification adds an save draft feature when using Quick Reply, New Reply, New Thread and Private Messaging.
When writing a message you can choose to save it and return to it later without publically publishing it.
There are two saving options, one is where drafts are automatically saved every X minutes where process is mostly invisible to the user and is a background process and where drafts can be saved at any point by clicking a button. You can assign each type to individual usergroups separately.

Drafts are saved and restored in the following manner.
One new thread per forum, one reply per thread, one PM reply per PM and one new PM. If a saved post/thread/PM is found, the text is automatically restored to the reply field when the user returns to the page. So to restore a thread, they just visit the New Thread page in the forum in which it was being written, it will be there waiting.
so let us know if this is something you all will use (we will most likely limit to certain areas and PM's, based on your input, if we decide to add it)

I save all of my important threads in a word document as if the database has a problem i will have a backup of my thread and all of my posts as every post i create as an update for my game is added to the document, just use wordpad or something to save it in until the folks here decide to do the savey thing

The thing is with that is like the format isnt the same with some of the programs I have, I just have Perfect Word. And that messes up when I tried to move it over onto a post here at PC for some reason or another, and doesn't show image either. And I doubt many members here always backup their posts like that. I don't know. *shrugs*

Anyways, hmmmm okay so this draft option is pretty easy to start up? Just need interest. Hmm makes me wish I put a poll up. =/
Though yeah I support it getting added. Hopefully it will.

Steve is it possible to just like test it for a month to see the results? Like see how much the Pokecommunity members use it or does that deal with money/too much work etcetc.

I just save important posts on Word or Notepad. Firefox also comes with spell check anyway.
I wouldn't use this at all really. By the way, would any downtime affect saved drafts?

You can PM yourself? I never knew that.

Okay that pretty much solves it then. Great idea Arcanine, Thank you!

So yeah, I guess that solve's the problem.

No. Look at what happens when you highlight and right click as you type in the text box, it doesn't let you copy.

    Problem surfaces once again.

For one thing, right mouse click in the box works for me. Second, why not just highlight it and do a "ctrl+C"? It's not that hard.

Um.. what? O_o I can copy from a textarea just fine.

Really? It won't let me on the three computers that I've tested it out on in the last couple of minutes.

Have you tried using the hotkeys (Ctrl + C/Ctrl + V) instead? Probably wouldn't matter, but I figure it might work if you try alternatives to the right click option.
