  • What was one of the scariest/weirdest internet experiences you've ever had? Please keep it pg-13.

On another Pokemon forum, some person found my Facebook account literally by the font color I used to use (it was red btw. I didn't even mention it, nor did I have my Facebook linked anywhere. I still don't know how this person did that, and I'm freaked out by them deducing something like that and getting it right with no effort. I have never tried to use that Pokemon forum since then and I will not disclose what forum it is. This was way back in 2015 or 2016 this happened. I hope that person doesn't do that anymore, because that is absolutely fucking scary.

Also, seeing my IP address in bold red lettering in "legal disclaimers" while doing some market research surveys will never not scare me, so it gets a shout out here, as well.

I was only about 11 or 12 years old, I joined two other people in creating a website. We were the only 3 who frequented it. I don't remember how happened, but I really upset the main owner. He stalked me and found my account on an entirely different website. He was threatening messages such as "I know where you live". "You have no idea who you messed with".

As an 11 year old, I didn't understand how serious it was. I was just sending laughing emojis towards him. The messages eventually stopped, and I didn't realize until years later that it was pretty scary.

  • I had a online blog during my first year of college and some guy by the name of "Pablo" commented me on my writing and how "I look beautiful and you deserve someone better." I IP matched the guy and it turned out to be my Ex who kept stalking me since we broke up. For years up to this point I have gone under a different name online.

Oh and another ex gave me a tour of the Deep Dark Web. It's not fun. Hate it. Zero stars.

  • Probably when my ex found my twitter handle over a year after our breakup. I blocked her on Facebook immediately after we broke up, and at the time I didn't integrate my twitter life with my real life.

Not scary per se but more like a "wtf moment".
Basically years ago I used to mod a small forum. Some hackers who hated one of our admins appeared, and one got into contact with me. I was asking them something when all of a sudden they pulled up my real name? I was 16 at the time so my response was basically "I'm a fucking minor and I barely know , leave me alone".
Left the forum and changed emails after that lol. Thinking back I'm lucky all they had was my name and old email address, even worse was that I wasn't the only minor on the staff team 😱

  • probably when I was 11, and anytime you'd go on a game website you'd get those popup ads that say:

"WARNING YOUR WINDOWS IS INFECTED PLEASE RING THE FOLLOWING NUMBER AND HAVE YOU BANK CARD AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER READY SO WE CAN HELP YOU"
But it also did klaxon noises, and the text was read by a genered female text to speech voice.

absolutely terrifying for an unsuspecting kid. thanks dagobah . net
