School Lunch

In elementary and middle school, I'd eat chicken nuggets or pizza. For some years, I brought a lunch bag and ate snacks or leftovers. The cafeteria food was pretty gross. Jello was a delicacy.

In high school, I would ALWAYS eat the pizza. The only time I did not eat pizza was because they were out of pizza. I didn't have friends to sit with most of the time, so I'd hide out in the library studying. Then, I'd go eat when I had about 10 minutes left. Some days I severely miscalculated the time it took to get through the lunch line, and on those days, I just ate the pizza in 5 seconds and rushed to class. So, I'd say it was a pretty good pizza to keep me content for 4 years.

We had pretty generic fast food stuff (at least, those were my favorites - pizza, burgers, fries, mm). We also had salads and sandwiches, but that's generally for if you were too slow in lining up and all the burgers and pizzas were gone lol.

There was also a daily special and "TBA soup", those were pretty good too.

Dessert-wise, I always liked it when there was jello or canned peaches. During summer school they served awesome ice cream, too, it came in the skin of the fruit the ice cream was made from, like if it was pina colada(sp?) ice cream, it would come in half a small pineapple. c:

Suffice to say our caf food was actually pretty popular - like I said, the minute the lunch bell goes off people rush to the caf and line up at the counters so they can get the good stuff.

Now I've been out of high school for nearly nine years now, but I don't recall ever thinking our cafeteria food was gross. I ate it every day without complaints. XD

College campuses however...the only things there that are even good are the things that are sourced in from local fast food joints. XD

Wow, your guys lunchs sound horrible. xD

I loved mine, maybe I'm bad with food, as I like TV Dinners to. The mashed potatoes and chicken nuggests were the best! French Dip, Penne Pasta, I miss going to school for the food. Then we also had an al a cart that served pizza, chicken burgers, corn dogs, burritos. Then we also had a student store for top ramon and ect which was pretty popular.
The lunch was popular, people hardly brought their own, half usually went to the safeway across the street.

I always had my lunch packed in high school :3 Downside of that is having to heat up my food majority of the time and that takes the nutrients out of it D: Never a big fan of cafeteria food aside from their cookies. Back then, and even now, I like to keep track of what I'm giving my body. My parents didn't allow me to eat school food anyway XD Heck, they still insisted on coming to pick me up and going home for lunch in high school! Overprotective Asian parents.

School lunches in high school were okay, but they changed everything after I graduated. Something about like...no salt and nothing high calorie can be served anymore? I have no clue. Something Michelle Obama started. Makes me glad I'm already gone lol.

As far as lunch goes this semester, I'm only at school two days a week. I bring my lunch on Tuesday and I have lunch somewhere on campus with my boyfriend on Thursday. So that covers that.

When I was in High School, our cafeteria food was terrible, I never ate there, luckily for me, there was a Subway only 12 minute walk so I would go there every day and eat it on the way back.

Not too bad, but a bit too "meh" for my taste. It gives me the same amount to satisfaction as injecting an IV of ready-to-absorb nutrients. It's all the same brown mush and the sandwiches are extremely stale and sharp day-old Quiznos and the crushed Carls Jr. cheeseburgers.

And I get that they have limited budgets but if that's the reason their food sucks by god don't cut their funding even more…

and I used to bring TV dinners to school for a while but that got stale for me really quick :p

High school lunches were 50/50. Sometimes they were edible, other times they were not. Fries, on the other hand, most of the time they were mushy and nasty. I stopped buying school lunch after freshmen year if I recall.

Oh god no. High school food was unbearable for me, I'm sorry but I would have rather skipped lunch that buy something I wouldn't really eat. So almost all the time we would just bring packed lunches, and even sometimes that was kinda gross in a way too.

They're absolutely revolting. Michelle Obama's forcing "healthy foods" into our lunches, which is basically replacing Coca-Cola and Pepsi with Vitamin Water and FUZE – which by the way have just as much sugar and calories if not more than the soda.

They're still selling the same bottom-rung burgers and slices of pizza, as well as nachos and sub sandwiches loaded with meat and mayo. How is switching out your a la carte drinks from sugar to a different kind of sugar and leaving all of this disgusting garbage in making us any healthier?

Not to mention the food is just beyond edible. Everything except the popcorn chicken (which is $2.50 for 4 ounces) makes me want to gag. Now that I'm living with my mother I've started packing my lunch, because their food is insanely overpriced for what you're getting.

I didn't eat the school lunch unless it was macaroni and cheese. The pizza looked like cardboard. Everything else looked like it wasn't safe for eating. Sometimes I ordered chocolate milk since you can't go wrong with milk. Otherwise, my mum always made my lunch. She usually made me sandwiches (usually peanut butter and jelly or cheese). Once in a blue moon she'd make a traditional Lebanese dish.

When I was in high school and middle school, we had order slips to order out to restaurants like Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc. And when we became seniors, we got an hour for lunch and we got to go to places in our cars and eat out with our friends/classmates.

My school lunch is pretty horrible. Only on occasion will they have stuffed crust pizza or something equally as good. They do have pizza everyday but its not even that semi-okay rectangle stuff, its triangle and it's like someone slathered bitter tomatoes on bread, and melted rubber on top. I don't even know how it's possible to make it taste that bad. The one redeeming feature of my cafeteria is the wrap line, but unfortunately it's almost always too long to justify waiting for one.

Edit: Oh and on a side note they banned everyone from leaving school to get food from restaurants too

The quality of the school lunches in my high school was all over the place when I was there. I often swapped out my usual because of it. One year it was the burritos they had but after the switched those I went to their chicken sandwiches and so forth. Occasionally I would get the daily meal (like the line that would have something different every day. Basically what school lunch only was in elementary school) and rarely I would go and just grab myself something from the A la Carte line. So yeah. Varied a lot. In general it wasn't too bad though.

College isn't too bad either. Their daily meals are pretty good (and I've actually tried a few new things thanks to it) but I try to avoid buying from there unless the daily meal looks really good/looks like something I would like and I don't have anything to eat with me. Since I'm at the college every day until 4pm it's almost vital for me to remember to either snag something from home or buy something if I forget.

Or starve. Always an option

Our school banned that as well because people were leaving and returning much too late. Kinda sucked as there was a restaurant closeby that was easy to get to and cheap. Their food was so much better than our lunch's and I missed being able to go and get it from there ;-;

I don't think there are really cafeterias here in Australia and my school certainly doesn't have one (it does have a really small, expensive, and limited canteen however). We don't even have a place to eat with tables so everything has to be eaten pretty much standing somewhere in the grounds. I bring my own lunches... some water, fruit and a either wrap (with like egg and mushroom and omlette stuff inside... surprisingly nice), home-made sushi roll, or a salad sandwich. Maybe leftover stirfry or pasta or something.
A lot of people don't actually eat lunch at my school. Since we don't have lockers or anything it's really annoying having to carry around your lunch all day along with your books.
It would be nice to sneak out and go to the corner store just around the corner from the school but the principle likes to make a big deal of it- as if we're all going to be kidnapped when we're not under the direct supervision of the school (even the 18 year olds). -___-
