Which would you rather see in Gen 6? Sequels to X and Y (e.g. X2 and Y2), or a third version (Z)? Any reason for your preference?

I would prefer to see sequels. Third versions are nice, but in my opinion they're too similar to the original pair to warrant actually buying when you already have one of the original ones. Sequels add more to the story and the region, and I thought it was done really well in Gen 5. What are your thoughts?

Honestly, after B2W2 I'd rather see sequels rather than a third version. It makes it feel fresh, rather than the third versions normally only adding new features & not new areas, Pokémon distributions, gym leaders etc.

I'd love to see sequels, I think it updates the game in a way that's more interesting than third versions.

I'd like to see a third version Z, and I'm more inclined to believe it's coming, at least more so than I was about Grey. To be honest, as long as they introduce some fresh concepts and add a post-game, I don't really mind either.

    Pokémon XZ and YZ versions.

Ooor, that could also work. XD

I'm hearing X xd Y has little to no Post Game.. I hope we get stuff like Contests, or the Musical, or Pokeathalon, or even the Battle Frontier for a post game! Ooooh, the contests would be FUUUUUUUUUUUN in conjunction with Pokemon Amie!

It's not really a lack of post-game, so much as it is the post-game content gets really repetitive and stale pretty fast. For example there's the Battle Maison (which the current iteration's version of the Battle Frontier), the Friend Safari, the Battle Chateau (a place with easy battles that give you a ton of money), and catching the Kanto legendaries. That's about it. My problem is that there's not much new territory to explore, and the rest of the stuff isn't really all that rewarding. It's just stuff to keep you busy.

If they brought back Contests or Pokeathlon, that'd be awesome! It'd be especially cool to see it in 3D. I wasn't really a fan of the Musical, but that it certainly wouldn't hurt to have it in there as well :)

Seconding Reduction; I really want to see sequels, as they'd offer a different story, characters, and things like that. Third version wouldn't be so bad, either, but sequels are preferred, though.

I don't really care if it's a third version or a sequel like in BW. I would like some more postgame content, though, such as more new areas. Maybe a road that connects Vaniville town to Kiloude City or something. (just an example)

B2/W2 did a lot in terms of making Unova feel a lot bigger than it did in B/W, and I'm hoping to see a similar concept used here in the sixth gen. Kalos is cool and all, but there's so much more that can be added. :D

For whatever reason, I'm more into getting a 3rd version than sequels atm. But like Flushed said, idc which they do, so long as they make the post-game good and myabe add a new idea or 2.

If they do sequels, I kinda want it where the player character is the same one as in X/Y. Basically, make it a continuation of your X/Y character's story.

Would personally rather see a singular sequel, but considering each game was centered around different lore (Xerneas and "rebirth" being the focus of X; Yvetal and "death" being the focus of Y), I think XZ and YZ are more likely to happen.

That being said, I'd like it if the games took place five-seven years into Kalos' future so that we can see some real development as compared to a few small changes here and there ala B2/W2.

    For example:

    • Trevor taking over as the Professor of Kalos, allowing Sycamore to retire to a possible new town and live out a quiet life while silently mourning Lysandre's death.
    • Calem/Serena possibly becoming the new Champion after the hero decides to leave the region.
    • Diantha becoming a more supportive-role character, appearing at several towns and routes to challenge you to battle for a new movie she's shooting.
    • Tierno could establish a Pokemon Contest Hall that implements a dancing component, or simply be a big star in that field.
    • Shauna could be the new eighth Gym Leader and have no type specialty.
    • Geosenge Town would be rebuilt and a memorial would be erected in Lysandre's honor, despite his misguided goals.
    • "South Kalos" would be where you start your adventure (Since the current Kalos region is modeled after North France, South Kalos would be designed after the rest of France)
    • South Kalos would have four gyms, with the other four being accessed via the TMV to North Kalos.
    • The first four gym leaders would effectively be replaced. Viola has left Kalos to study the Bug-type Pokemon in Kanto, turning her gym into a "Bug Maniac" Museum. Grant's gym would be transformed into a Battle facility that results in obtaining the Sail and Jaw Fossils if you complete it. Grant himself would be the final challenge. Korrina would retire to oversee the Tower of Mastery, turning her gym into a roller rink for public enjoyment. Ramos' gym would become a public botanical garden. He would retire due to old age.
    • The latter four gyms would be altered or left unchanged. Clemont would continue to run the gym at Lumiose Gym, but would be assisted by Bonnie, turning into a Doubles Gym. Valerie would remain as the Laverre Gym Leader and left virtually unchanged. Olympia would be replaced as the seventh Gym Leader and her Gym would be transformed into a Dark-Type Gym. Wulfric would retire and have his gym turned into a training area for Trainers. Shauna, the new eighth Gym Leader, would reside in a new town in North Kalos.
    • The first four Gyms would have be Normal, Ghost, Ground and Flying. Not necessarily in that order.

You know, for a while, I was hoping for a third version, but... After seeing what happens in the post game plot, I'm really hoping for a sequel! That being said, I'll still play whichever version Gamefreak decides to put out. :P

Well, I considered black and white 2. I didn't bother getting either of them because I thought they would be too much like the first ones.
A third version isn't very good either, because they are very similar as well, which is why I didn't get platinum.
The BEST possible thing to do is to have found a way to not buy x or y and then get z. Unfortunately, I can not do this. :(
This is why I selected version number three. Also, I've been reading other people's before I edited this, and as I did not finish the game yet, I did not know the post-game is so bad.

I'm actually hoping for a prequel so we could learn more about Sycamore and Lysandre.

That....... is................. the single most greatest idea for a pokemon game I have ever heard. I second this motion.

A prequel to see if there is a connection between Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde in one game, like Emerald imo.
