December 3rd.
I kept resetting my outbreaks again... till either a Piplup or Rufflet outbreak showed up...
Well... Rufflet it is.

I beat it down till the odds improve and then beat up a Marill outbreak completely.
Then I fetch the shiny cafeteria meal and a shiny Rufflet shows up 7 minutes in. I toss the Moon Ball and in it goes. Catching Power 2 is awesome for this tbh.

In case you can't tell... the shiny is right in front of me.

I then look at other outbreaks and beat down a Minior outbreak completely. No shiny. Can't eyeball it, so the only choice is to commit mass murder on them.
I'll need to check again some other time I guess...

As the outbreak came to an end however, and I was beating up the remaining Minior, I saw a green glowing Golett...
Well, don't mind if I do =3

Didn't really know what ball to use on it so I just chucked a Luxury Ball. Evolved it afterward into Golurk as I already had a shiny Golett =3

Then I leveled up my Rufflet to the point where it can evolve so I can send it to PLA for a quick evo... :fufu:

December 4th.
Went to a Dreepy outbreak with a cafeteria meal. Nothing showed.

Then made a Sparkling Fighting sandwich and went to a Makuhita outbreak and got a shiny about halfway through. Unfortunately I made a mistake while going over my screenshots and deleted the one where I find my Makuhita.
I also went to Area Zero to try for a shiny Iron Hands and wondered if my outbreaks were bugged... no. I apparently messed up the sandwich... got item drop power instead of shiny. Barely saw any Iron Hands at all. Checked map for other Fighting type outbreaks.... no luck.
Already saved after finding the Makuhita so no undoing that.

Ah... can't mix Sweet and Sour Herba apparently. Oh well.

Made an Electric sandwich hoping to double up on Iron Hands and Iron Thorns, but it took 26 minutes for a shiny Iron Hands to show. I did go to Iron Thorns' location, but none showed in what time was left.

December 5th.
First cafeteria meal and I'll be attending a Drakloak outbreak...
I get one but didn't think it through beforehand apparently, can't weaken it so I end up pulling my shiny Iron Hands out of the box and teaching it Thunder Punch due to Wild Charge deleting Drakloak.
All this while it keeps charging me and then wondering off, while I'm also dodging Veluzas.

It takes several reloads to get to the point where I can Thunder Punch it and get lucky with a Paralysis which then has the Moon Ball crit catch it =D

That leaves me with 1 more outbreak I'd like to attend.
I fetch another cafetria meal and then get me a yellow Nymble at the outbreak first try =3

18 minutes left so I head to a Koffing outbreak. Nothing.
I then try to make a Poison Sparkling Sandwich and roam Area Zero so I could get both Iron Moth + maybe a Koffing... Too many Venomoth are spawning... guess I'll try Fire type sparkling sandwhich.

2 attempts and the spawns are better. Only Iron Moth in most grass areas. Talonflame joins in when near the sandy area.
Both were duds though... unless I missed it... or it spawned in a wall.

December 6th.
After closing and rebooting my game several times a Piplup outbreak shows up... in the water, unfortunately. Not the best area for one, but as I only need one more... I might be able to make it work.
I beat the outbreak down till the odds improve and save. Then I head to a Horsea outbreak to beat it down and upon doing so my mass outbreaks reset. wth?
I close the game without saving and load back in and am at the Piplup outback again, which is back now... SV you buggy piece of work.

2 water sparkling sandwiches duds.
Then a shiny Piplup shows on the next one roughly halfway through.
I save before trying to catch it and it busts out my Heavy Ball. I then reload and.... it's gone.
I reload again.... still gone.
And then again.... nope, no shiny Piplup in front of me.
Once more.... nope. Starting to get worried here.
Again. Nuh-uh.

And then another reload and it reappears at last. Gah this bug always has me so nervous when it happens. I lure the Piplup back to shore and re-save.
I try again and it busts out. From this point on at least it spawns in straight away. I try several more times and it keeps busting out.
I then pull my Yawn Slaking out of my box and put it in the lead so I can put it to sleep and switch to my False Swiper Ceruledge.
I check if the shiny Piplup is still there when I exit the menus. Yep. Another save then.

I yawn it and false swipe it down and the Heavy Ball crit catches with it asleep. Finally.

Caught a random shiny Maschiff while hopping from raid den to raid den.

Snivy outbreak this day. 1st attempt: Shiny exeggutor shows up. Yeah...
... oh well didn't have one yet so I caught it.

2nd Attempt: a Shiny snivy shows 5 minutes in and nothing after.

7th Attempt: a shiny Exeggutor shows again. I catch it and hope a Snivy shows up too. Nope. Well I'm not wasting Herba on a repeat catch (already have Exeggcute and Exeggutor now) so I reload. Bye bye Exeggutor #2.

8th attempt: I catch a Snivy chilling at the edge of the lake roughly halfway through the shiny sandwhich. I lured it away from the lake first before saving just in case.

December 16th.
Still had the golden outbreak Chansey active so went to catch one so I could evolve it into Blissey (already had a Chansey).

I've been playing on my child account that's in German for the last several days due to having some older golden outbreaks still active there and wanting to do a small giveaway.
Never did the 2nd DLC though, so I first had to do some BBQs to farm some BP.

Came across some Golden eggs and a pink flowered deer while doing this:

Once I had enough BP I started hunting Litwick at it's golden outbreak.
Dec 18th: Gold Litwick outbreak with a Cafeteria shiny meal active;
-1st round/haul: 3 shiny Litwick.
-2nd round/haul: 2 shiny Litwick and a shiny sewaddle I spotted by turning around after catching the second shiny Litwick.
-3rd haul: 2 shiny Litwick, second of which was in a new outbreak location due to the date rolling over for the last 6 minutes. Managed to beat down the outbreak far enough and actually get 1 to spawn with the timer being under 1 minute remaining.

Combined the encounter shots for the Litwick and Milceries together due to their number.

Huge congrats to ReKoil and icycatelf for a tremendous shiny year, and for keeping the spirit of shiny hunting alive in the SHC's 20th year!!! 🎉

I got a bunch of shinies this year in Scarlet and Violet! I posted my first one, Cufant, back in April, and I came across a bunch more while playing the game and completing the (main game) Pokédex - it's my first complete 'dex since Blue! 🕺 ("lol" I also completed Emerald's main game 'dex to get the Johto starter, but I never completed the whole 'dex available in Emerald... 😅)

This was a super fun generation, and the first time ever that I played both of the games to completely capture every Pokémon available! I ended up with 245 hours in Violet and 50 in Scarlet, "lol!" In that time, I've gotten 9 new shinies (plus Cufant!); 8 in Violet and 1 in Scarlet:

Cacturne - Caught 4/28 in the Asado Desert! I was still playing through the main game, and it was the very first Cacturne I saw! The red cactus was just standing out there in the middle of the desert hanging around, and I would've gone to catch him anyway just for 'dex purposes even if he wasn't shiny! 😅

Lechonk - Caught 5/14 in East Province (Area One), right below the cliff that leads up to Artazon, by the Team Star Fire base. It looks super cool and I recognized it was a shiny immediately - it looks just like a pig!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Iron Hands - Caught 5/21 in Area Zero, on the last level with grass, right before you enter the cave to descend! I got super lucky since I didn't even notice he was shiny and wouldn't have even thought to catch him if I hadn't seen the bling shine around when the battle started!! 😅 It also helped that there was another Iron Hands right next to him who had a differently-colored head, "lol!" I had just been running around Area Zero defeating strong Pokémon for experience (I was trying to level up some Pokémon to get them to evolve for the 'dex as well as to get some strong level 100s for raids!), and I lucked into finding a shiny without even noticing!!! 💪

Veluza - I caught Vaultin' Veluza on 5/26 in Casseroya Lake!!! Veluza's one of the most frustrating Pokémon since they kept initiating battles with me when all I wanted was to search the lake and collect my daily feathers, but I was thrilled when this one turned out to be a shiny, "lol!"!!!!! 🤣

Swablu - Caught on 5/30 in Area 1 (West), by the Gimmighoul tower right by Cascarrafa in Scarlet! All of my other GenIX shinies have come in Violet, but I decided to play Scarlet to get the version exclusives and complete the 'dex! And while I was playing the game, Swablu shone!

Mareep - Caught on 6/3 in South Province (Area Two), right next to the Pokémon Center that's between Mesagoza and Cortondo. After I completed Scarlet and transferred over the version exclusives, I decided to go back to Violet and fully complete it and make a competitive team! And when I was breeding for my competitive team, I ran a bike route between that Pokémon Center and Cortondo (it's almost perfectly timed to align with egg hatch times!!!), and I noticed that pink Mareep hanging out in that little patch of dirt across the road from the Pokémon Center!!!

Donphan - Caught on 6/4 in the Asado Desert! I was running around collecting treasure to sell in shops so that I could buy the EV items like Protein and Carbos (gosh, they're expensive!! 😅) for my competitive team, and I found a shiny Donphan leading a herd of Phanpy!! It was pretty cool to get this shiny, since it's a pretty big deal in GenIX, haha!

Glimmet - Hatched 6/5 in Porto Marinada! I was hatching Glimmet for my competitive team (it's an amazing Pokémon! Between its moveset and its ability, it's amazing!!! ), and I decided to occasionally take a break from my normal bike route to either go pick up treasure buried in the desert or check out the daily deals at the auction in Porto Marinada. And lo and behold, I was biking down the windy paved path with houses at the entrance to Porto Marinada, and one of my Glimmet hatched shiny!!!!!! And I was pretty deep in the hatching process, so it was already Timid and I only had to hyper-train 2 stats to make it competitively viable!! And then I evolved it to have a magnificent shiny Glimmora lead off my team (and it led the way as I won my competitive battle against my friend's team, so that was extra awesome!!!! I've never had a competitive shiny before!!!!!!) Glimmora's such a cool Pokémon with an amazing shiny color and I love it!!!!

Tatsugiri - Caught on 6/25 in Casseroya Lake! I was doing another loop for the feathers again, and I wasn't sure if this was just a rare version of Tatsugiri that I hadn't caught yet (initially I caught like 20 of them since I kept forgetting which were the main colors and kept thinking every one I saw was a shiny since it had a different color than the last one, "lol!" 😅), but this one was bright white and definitely a shiny!!

All of them were caught in Premier Balls, except for Cufant (Great Ball), Swablu (Poké Ball), and Donphan (Ultra Ball)! And of course Glimmora, who was hatched in an Ultra Ball since I wasn't expecting a shiny at all! 😅

I also put my Violent ones into Pokémon Home (and then transferred them back), and they show up as shiny even in the Box!!! It's so cool!!!! I also put a normal Cufant and Iron Hands in there to show the difference, "lol!" 😅

Happy 20th aniniversary. Not sure when my last post was but I'm continuing on my horde hunt in Alpha Sapphire for Lotad. I got my starter and caught a Surskit and started the hunt and am probably close to 20,000 hordes now with 1 shiny Lotad caught Sept 4, 2023 and 5 shiny Zigzagoon.

In X I'm still horde hunting for Nidoran female. I found my first shiny female back in 2018. Then I did about 3,000 masuda eggs without any shiny. I started up horde hunting again so am probaby close to 70-80,000 hordeson there.

In Scarlet some of my recent shinies include Tandemaus #2, Gardevoir, Sylveon, Cyclizar, Umbreon, Espeon, Gumshoos, Sunflora, Naclstack and Arrokuda which fortunately shined while knocking out the 60 and Oinkologue which I thought was shiny locked in my game, so many failed hunts in the past.

Happy 20th anniversary! I've slowed down on the shiny hunting so I am making the most of 2025 with a bingo card of some shinies I want that I do not have yet. Gen 6-9 fan sprites credit to their original owners from the Smogon community. Anyway, the biggest challenge will be obtaining a shiny Roaring Moon as I only have Violet. So far, my first completed target was a shiny Tentacruel in Violet's Indigo Disk tropical area. I also found a random shiny Toucannon along the way. Here's to many more in 2025!

Edit: January 13th: Over the weekend, I caught a shiny Drillbur, Popplio, and Bruxish in Pokemon Violet. I am marking off shiny Excadrill off my 2025 bingo card!

On the first day of Christmas I checked my daily outbreaks and went to a Blue Basculin outbreak due to how rarely I see it. It's usually the red one... and I caught one of those randomly already.

On the 18th I had a Winter Sawsbuck outbreak. I obviously attended.... I already got it in it's other season forms!
First cafeteria meal was a dud, but on the second...

That just leaves me with Winter Deerling for this line, which I don't think I've ever seen an outbreak of. Might need to hunt that manually.
Anyway... still had time left on the clock for the meal power so I went to a Meowth outbreak... only to turn around at some point and see a green Hoppip....

On the 19th I went to a Scraggy outbreak to catch one to complete the line. Gave it 4 attempts but none showed.... something else did show up during the first try though...

On the 3rd attempt a Shiny Alolan Geodude showed up.... which I did catch, but no Scraggy showed up and I already completed the line so.... I reloaded, for it to never be seen again. Still wondering if that was the right call... BP aren't as hard to come by as Herba Mystica.... don't really wanna be stuck grinding them though.


Today I had a Vespiquen outbreak... which I attended. Been wanting a Vespiquen or Salazzle outbreak for a while now.
First cafeteria meal was a bust. Reloaded for attempt 2 and...

Had to reload multiple times due to attempting to catch it in a Sport Ball. Took 6 reloads before it went in.
Went to check out a Tyrogue outbreak afterward, but it was in a bad location so I didn't attempt hunting it.

I've been on quite the shiny catching spree. My intent was to keep hunting daily till the end of January, make 1 big post on February 1st, and then take a long break from it. There's other games I wanna play and shiny hunting outbreaks every day just eats too much time.

Kinda caught way too much though, so I need to split it into 2 at the very least... if not 3 posts xD
So anyway...


January 24th:
I beat down a Tyrogue outbreak before going to an Espurr outbreak. After getting the outbreak dispersed message I look around and see this:

I evolved it into Hitmonlee and evolved the Tyrogue I already had into Hitmonchan.
I then head to the Espurr outbreak and try it with the cafeteria meal 3 times. Nothing.
I then switch to a Psychic shiny sandwich and get 2 shiny Espurr on the same sandwich.

Both are female, but it's fine. Already caught a shiny male Meowstic some time ago.
8 minutes left on the timer so I head to an Inkay outbreak... and come across a shiny Smeargle:

Already had one but caught it anyway. No shiny Inkay showed, but then again I didn't get it beaten down far enough on time either due to the Smeargle showing up and being really stubborn.

January 25th:
Scraggy outbreak. First cafeteria meal is a dud.
Second one a Scraggy shows up early, but it used High Jump Kick after I False Swiped it so it died and I had to reload. Tossed 2 Repeats balls at it without weakening it on the second attempt.

I then tried a Lycanroc outbreak but they only spawn in at night so I tried only once and then didn't bother again. I'd rather hunt Rockruff and just evolve it.

Went to a Ducklett outbreak and saw a pink one before I reached the point where the odds improve:

Nothing interesting in Violet today, but there was a Scyther outbreak in my Scarlet game.

It took 12 reloads but it eventually went into my safari Ball.

I then messed about with the item printer in this game and fully upgraded it... got 3 Poke Ball Lotto's =O
I used way more BP on it in Violet and only ever got one lol
It gave me a Moon Ball, amongst others though, and I still have the Holiday yellow raids active. Already did Cetoddle and Fraxure, but one yet remains...

I grabbed another cafeteria meal and went to a golden Carbink outbreak. 5 minutes before the end one finally showed... for a gold outbreak that's pretty slow/late.
It went into my new Moon Ball first try =D

I go to beat up a Drowzee outbreak and a pink one shows up:

I was just gonna kill them and then go hunt Happiny, but.... one showed up shiny which is half the line, so... might as well try, I guess?
I then use a Cafeteria meal which is a dud. The second attempt bugs out and my outbreaks reset so I have to relaunch the game.
3rd attempt I spot a bit of Pink poking out of a bush... which was not my target:

Oh well. I only have time for a couple attempts at one. I beat down the Tinkatuff outbreak first and then attend the Sandile outbreak. Prioritizing Sandile here due to already having one of the line shiny (Krookodile).

I beat down a Persian outbreak hoping for a shiny along the way and then head for a new Happiny outbreak. A second chance at hunting it as Drowzee cost me too much time last time to actually go after it. I just barely started fainting Happiny when I stared at a flock of Fletchling nearby and noticed one of them was off again:

Evolved it into Fletchinder, then beat the Happiny outbreak down far enough and picnicked due to having too many outbreaks I want to attend today... so no time for Cafeteria meals, gonna pull out the big guns immediately. Two Normal Shiny sandwich duds followed by a shiny Happiny on attempt 3:

It was only halfway through the meal so I went to Glaseado Mountain afterward to try my luck for a Winter Deerling. Nope.

Off to Blueberry then, for the Fletchinder outbreak. Was gonna hunt 2 here, but a Fletchling showed up already while hunting Happiny so I only need one now. I make a Flying sparkling sandwich and 2 minutes in I see this:

Kinda wanted to catch it in my last Sport Ball... is not a perfect fit however... would also likely bust out a bunch of times, requiring reloading. Shrugged and caught it in a Luxury Ball lacking better ideas. Repeat ball worked nicely for Fletchinder, but not Talonflame imo. Was scared it'd glitch through the wall on reloading.

Anyway, only other Flying type outbreak is a Gyarados so.... Area Zero time. Still need a bunch of Paradox Pokemon, and I never even tried to hunt Iron Jugulis. One shows up with still 15 minutes left on the clock after catching it:

I stare at the map for a little while and head off to Kitakami for the Oricorio pond. The Ghost one has a nice shiny, so might as well try with the left over time.

And that brings me to the 3rd outbreak I wanna attend, which is in my Scarlet game. No Herba to speed things up, so better hope it shows up in the 1-2 attempts I still have time for.
I beat the Flaaffy outbreak down till the odds improve and then fetch me the cafeteria meal. Flaaffy didn't decide to be shiny but something else decided to go pink in it's stead:

I beat down a Silicobra outbreak in Scarlet and then head for an Alolan Exeggutor outbreak. I improve the odds and then fetch me the cafeteria meal.
Despite the rather bad location, a small corridor where at most 6 or 7 Exeggutor can even spawn in at once, I actually got one to show up and caught it within 10 minutes:

Catching took a while as I wasn't sure if it had Wood Hammer or not and it kept healing with Leech Seed and Mega Drain.

Nothing else of interest in Scarlet so time to go back to Violet to check today's outbreaks. A Poochyena and Ekans outbreak I wouldn't mind attending, but I'd rather finish off a shiny line instead and I got zero stages of either.

I decide to go to a 6 star raid first to check it out and try and get some Herba. I back away from it to go make a Raid sandwich after checking what Pokemon the raid is and see this:

I then make the sandwhich and do some raids and then check my outbreaks.... Totodile outbreak =O
Nice. Also a Fennekin outbreak, but I have different plans for that line already. Don't have a Moon Ball for Feraligatr unfortunately... but I can still try and catch 2 Totodile for Totodile + Croconaw to get started with the line.

I beat up the Poochyena outbreak first. Alas, no golden Pooch. Off to the Totodile outbreak then. Got only 2 Herba atm, but that's enough for 1 Sparkling sandwich, so I make it.
A shiny Totodile showed up eventually and I had 7 and a half minutes left after catching it:

I frantically reset spawns as fast as possible from that point hoping for a 2 for 1, but deeming it rather unlikely due to already being this far into the shiny sandwich.
But, with 50 seconds left on the clock I spot a 2nd shiny Totodile:

I then went to my only remaining 6 star outbreak with a raid power 2 sandwich active. I got 2 Sour Herba from it, which had exceptions for the sandwiches you can make... but Water isn't one of the exception types, so I should be able to use them.
In which case... I've got a Child account on my Scarlet game that hasn't made any progress past the 1st PC.... time to shove my entire living dex into it for apriballs =3

One lengthy back and forth later... (if I did too many boxes at once Home would error up)....
... I now have a Moon Ball on my Scarlet child account and can give it to a mon to send it over to my Violet game which has the outbreak. Luckily I seem to have caught a random Tarountula and Lechonk. Aside from that no progress on this save.
One quick local link trade later the Moon Ball is on Violet which means I can go hunt a 3rd Totodile =3

Kinda wanna try a Cafeteria meal first, but that bit of prep took a lot longer than I'd like.
I make another Water typer shiny sandwich. 10 minutes in I see this:

Took 3 reloads before the Moon Ball crit caught. Does feel a bit like I wasted 20 minutes of a shiny sandwich, but eh... only 90 minutes left before the clock rolls over and the outbreaks reset. Need to both find and catch it before then. I'd rather not risk it =3

February 1st:

Spent a while cataloguing my new shinies from the last 4-5 days. Was in such a fast pace last several days I had no time to do it.
I still had time left over afterward and saw a Rhydon outbreak and already had a shiny Rhyhorn, so I figured I'd go after it. One final shiny hunt before I take a break for a while.

So I then first went to a Minior outbreak to beat it down completely again... this is my... 13th or 14th one that I just beat down start to finish just to try my luck. You can't tell if Minior is shiny due to it's shell, so it's best to just go to an outbreak and kill all of them.

At some point my Ceruledge refused to attack one. I thought I was just not aiming at it properly or it was due to the slope or Minior was up in the air too high, so I realigned myself.... that sort of stuff happens a lot after all.
No... Ceruledge still refuses to attack even right next to it, and Minior isn't that high up now. Could it be, am I finally gazing upon a shiny Minior? Screenshot below is me aiming at the one Ceruledge refuses to attack:

Upon battle start it sparkles. I look up Minior's move set. Explosion. Ugh. I got no Damp mon on my party atm. I check my Poke Balls. Best one would be a Moon Ball, but I used my last one (atm) for Feraligatr. Of my other balls none really feel good aside from Luxury. No Damp mon though.
I might lose sight of it, if I back out and try to grab one out of the box. I still have a Master Ball though...
... yeah, I just chucked that instead =P
Might not be the ball I want for it, but at least I finally have a shiny Minior =D
... and besides... I could always try actually hunting it and see if I can get a different base color one (even if you can't see the difference in the shiny itself =P) =D

Anyway... I then beat the Rhydon outbreak down till the odds improved and then went to do my daily 6 star raids and a couple 5 star raids that matched the type of the 6 star ones. Got 1 Sour and then 1 Sweet Herba out of it. Stingy. The only combination that doesn't work for any type of shiny sandwich at all.
Still accepted them though, might be able to combine them with another type of Herba at some point.

I then went and fetched the shiny cafeteria meal. 1st attempt was a dud. Second attempt, I arrive at the outbreak again and look around and see this:

Catching it was a pain. My catching mon is Ceruledge and it kept spamming Earthquake and hitting each of it's 5 Stone Edges because the AI always gets da hax. Had to use an X Defense just to be able to tank hits better... and also use 2 Sword Dances just for False Swipe to do good damage lol. Naturally, it also rolled crits several times and fainted Ceruledge 3 times, because that's just how haxly the ai rolls =P

It eventually goes into my Nest Ball and then I picnic reset about 4 times and suddenly Rhydon number 2 decides to show up already:

Same pain in the neck to catch, but for this one I was dreading having to reload if it bust out of my Level Ball... luckily it didn't. Instant crit catch, thank the shiny gods.
I rode out the meal power at a Toucannon outbreak for the remaining 15 minutes, but nothing there. 2 Shinies on 1 cafeteria meal is very good though.

Afterward I went to restock sandwich ingredients at Porto Marinada and found a Level Ball for sale to replace the one I just used.... with an NPC commenting on convenience lol
I rarely check the market for apriballs nowadays and it just happens to have one on sale, the same one I just used. That's one heck of a coincidence lol

Now all that remains is to quickly send Rhydon to PLA so I can just evolve it by using the protector on it instead of trading...
... also prepped my shiny Quagsire as a Damp mon for stuff that likes to go kuhb00m, now that I no longer have a Master Ball in this game. Kinda wanted one that could also False Swipe, but there's only 1 mon that has Damp and learns it... and Paras/Parasect is not in this game.

Got tired of playing after hunting Larvesta for a while but decided to check out another mirage spot before shutting down, just because.

I fired up Scarlet and Violet again yesterday to catch the Mightiest Meowscarada in a Moon Ball so I can shiny breed it in the future.
I then decided to keep playing and hit up the new golden outbreaks as a lot of them are mon lines that I don't have at all yet or are incomplete =3


Marcht 1st:
After catching Meowscarada I checked out the first of the new golden outbreaks I'll be hitting up. Forgot to beat down another outbreak first, but made a sparkling Grass sandwich and caught the 1st of 3 Smolivs:

Picked the desert outbreak due to Smoliv being easier to spot here than in the grass. I then went to beat down another outbreak completely and then fetch the cafeteria meal. I then went back to the Smoliv outbreak. Another golden ball dung beetle showed up:

I then went to a golden Lapras outbreak to ride out the meal... it was on land... feels kinda cursed seeing Lapras on land in a savannah, ngl.
Nothing showed while riding it out so I went to do some other stuff.

10 minutes left till midnight and nothing else to do I went back and picnic reset a couple times without any meal powers active. 2 minutes before midnight I spot a purple Lapras and head over to it:

Before that I connect my 2 lites in Union Circle to farm some BP faster and on my Scarlet game I come across a Horsea that catches my attention as it looked off:

After I finish farming BP I beat down a Lurantis outbreak completely. No shiny from it again and I go beat down a Finizen outbreak until it improves the odds before fetching the cafeteria meal. I'll try hunting the dolphin instead... got a Lure Ball with it's name on it =3

Shiny Sewaddle #2 shows up in the last minute, but I didn't notice it straight away and scared it off running right past it. Had to run after it and leave the fight to reset it's 'I wanna run away and disappear' thing. I then seem to have forgotten to take a screenshot of finding it in the hurry. Could've reloaded just for a screenshot but due to still having Catching Power 2 from the cafeteria meal active it crit caught into my Friend Ball already... reloading would mean potentially resetting over and over for it to go back in just for a screenshot... pass.

Anyway, I already had one from my Violet child account, so after some evolving I got all 3 now... the Shiny Sewaddle line:

I started hunting for shiny Dhelmise on Friday (SOS chaining). This is the third time I've tried to shiny hunt for Dhelmise. (Even FINDING the Dhelmise itself at a low enough level was a challenge in and of itself. I've only found one that was a low enough level to actually start the hunt.) The main problem is that its call rate is the lowest possible value, so it would take forever for it to call another Dhelmise. It could take up to 10 MINUTES for it to finally call another. Most turns it doesn't even try to call, and most of the time when it does, nothing shows up. Also the moves it knows by level-up cause a bit of an issue - it can learn Mega Drain and Giga Drain, which could possibly heal its HP back to the yellow. It also has a lot of strong attacks and trapping moves. The least annoying moves to deal with are from level 10-13: Rapid Spin, Mega Drain, Astonish, and Wrap. (I used Alolan Marowak to fight, so immune to 2 moves)

The first hunt took a few days. I would chip away for a few hours and keep my DS on sleep mode otherwise. My DS died on me because I kept it on sleep mode overnight, and I must not have charged it in a while. No shiny Dhelmise. I think the chain was somewhere in the 80s.

I changed my strategy this time around - another issue I ran into is when it healed from Mega Drain and got its HP back to yellow. I'd have to switch out of Alolan Marowak and bring in Scrappy Pangoro to False Swipe and hope that it didn't use Wrap bc then I wouldn't be able to immediately switch back into Marowak. Solution: Soak on Pelipper, so I don't have to worry about the Ghost immunity to False Swipe. It streamlined the hunt a bit, which any time saving this long hunt is greatly appreciated. Yesterday I had the idea to put on a 10 hour loop of Drunken Sailor because I thought it would be funny. (It's not the first time I've done a hunt to a 10 hour loop of a song, but it's been a while since I did last.)

Well today I was a bit distracted while doing the hunt. I was growing tired of the hunt and was multitasking on other devices. I kept pushing A without looking at the screen and realized that I accidentally clicked on an attack, and I knocked out the Dhelmise I was chaining. I got to 129 in the chain (no shiny). I started this hunt about 48 hours ago and was still unsuccessful. (Granted I wasn't at it 24/7 of course, but I spent a lot of time out of my day on this hunt) Oh well, we will have to continue another day. I'll just set this hunt on the back burner and shoot for something easier.

Doing the Applin line in the desert area was the right call... that green shiny would blend in with the grass otherwise. Sticks out like a sore thumb in this area xD

I was only going to do the Applin line today, expecting to need like 3 cafeteria meals to get 5 for all of the Applin line stages.... 1 meal done and I only need 1 more

I was near an edge and initially thought I misclicked and Mamoswine refused to jump off it. I re-positioned myself and aimed again. Nope refused again. I position the camera to better look at it's eyes:

I catch it in a Repeat Ball. Not gonna use any special balls for this line, but the best matching regular ball. Their shinies suck, which is sad as I do like these Pokemon.
Anyway I was halfway down the cafeteria meal at this point so I finish improving the odds and started picnic resetting after, staring every Charcadet in the eyes.
With 6 minutes remaining I spy another Charcadet with blue eyes:

Both had marks apparently. Gonna need 1 more for Ceruledge so I'll need to fetch me another cafeteria meal.

First I trade in a Malicious Armor and Level Ball from my Violet game. I got a Pineco outbreak that I'd like to hit up as well.
I then search my Scarlet boxes for a Damp mon to use... Poliwag or Poliwrath. Poliwrath probably can't weaken it without killing it. Guess I'll grab Poliwag and teach it a weak move. Might need to level it a bit depending on Pineco's level. Could also already be too high level though.

Anyway... time for the 3rd cafeteria meal of the day. My 3rd and final blue eyed Charcadet shows up 13 minutes in:

I then head to the Pineco outbreak to beat it down and improve the odds, but nothing showed. It's a regular outbreak after all, not a golden one.

I then make a Bug shiny sandwich and get 1 shiny Pineco out of it:

I then fetch me a new cafeteria meal and after traveling back and doing a couple picnic resets spot this:

This second one was 2 levels below the level were it goes kuhblooie, but the first one did try to explode on me.
I then head to Kitakami for the golden Poliwag outbreak. 25 minutes left on the meal power so might as well try..
... I tried the outbreak nearest a fast travel, but too many other mons keep spawning in below the slope they're on and it stops the Poliwags from spawning eventually.
... I then went to another one in the Timeless woods and had 13 minutes left by the time it was beaten down far enough. Nothing showed. Or it did and I missed it. Or it hid in a bush or something idk. Wasn't planning on actively hunting Poliwag today anyway. Definitely gonna need a nice open area with little shadows for this one. It's really similar and every time one of them was in a shadow and others weren't I kept glaring at it wondering if it was shiny or not.

Ended up keeping the Level Ball Pineco as a Pineco... Forretress' full on Gold shiny isn't that well suited for it so I'd rather evolve the Luxury Ball one I caught 1st for Forretress =3

I go to a Paldean Tauros outbreak to beat it down completely before I go to my actual target. At some point I spot one that looks ever so slightly off and I encounter it.... can you tell?

The right one's head is like a shade darker. yeah, that's it... what a rubbish shiny. Had to leave the fight and put False Swipe on my Sandslash again as it kept busting out of Luxury Balls without lowering it's health. Eventually caught it.

I then continued beating up tauros. Occasionally getting dragged into a fight by one as it would dash into me from offscreen. During one such time.... well take a look here:

Yep. Another one.... pity you can't change it's form to Blaze or Aqua manually. Oh well... Caught it as well.
It was just as stubborn about going in the ball as the previous one lol
Not gonna actively hunt this 'line' yet. Though if I see an Aqua or Blaze Breed outbreak I'm gonna have to attend now.

After beating down the outbreak completely and mopping up the leftovers I head to a Poliwag outbreak. I get the you found an outbreak message but see nothing. I check the nearby cave... well this should be nice and compact. Unfortunately I'll need to leave and re-enter the cave every time to get them to spawn in after picnic resetting. Oh well.


First cafeteria meal is a bust... or I missed it. Idk how noticeable the slight difference is yet.
2nd cafeteria meal I spot one that looks off about halfway through.... that's gotta be it. I encounter and catch it.

Then a couple minutes later my game bugs out and resets the outbreaks. No, with how similar the shiny is that cave one was actually kinda perfect even if it's slower paced. I reload in to preserve the outbreak as I saved before catching it and it double edges itself to death. Didn't even realize it had that. I then reload in again and it's gone.... SV you buggy piece of sh!t.
So I reload again and it's there and this time doesn't kill itself... @_@

Anyway... got screwed out of 17 minutes of the cafeteria meal there. Time for another one then.
Nothing... okay something's up.... this is going far too poorly for a golden outbreak.

I check out both other outbreak locations... both outside. I opt to completely beat down the 2nd one. At some point one Poliwag looks shiny so I encounter it.
Nope, was just in the light with the ones around it in the shadow or something idk.

After beating the outbreak down completely my Sandslash refuses to attack one of the Poliwags while mopping up. Looks identical to the one I mistook for a shiny a couple minutes ago if you ask me. Both are in the spoiler below:

Anyway... I do have a Poliwhirl outbreak as well and after evolving the 2nd Poliwag I caught I think that one might stand out a bit more. Not a golden outbreak though.

Gonna go grab a cafeteria meal first and beat up the other golden Poliwag outbreak first though. Might get lucky again.

Only a couple minutes in and Froslass refuses to attack one of them... odds haven't even improved yet.

Sewaddle/Applin/Poliwag in Kitakami, did all of those too now.
Lapras/Scyther/Porygon in Blueberry. Did Lapras and already did Scyther's line earlier on in this game. Already shiny bred the Porygon line in SwSh so that's all the gold outbreaks done.

Was expecting Charcadet to be the hardest one going into these golden outbreaks... no it's definitely Poliwag, especially outside.


I then make a Dragon shiny sandwich and go to Area Zero. I try for Roaring Moon but end up with a green Zweilous instead:

I first hit up a Growlithe outbreak and beat it down completely before going to a male Oinkologne one.
I grab the cafeteria meal after improving the odds. It looked like a bust but a pink pig shows up with a little under 3 minutes left:

Also noticed a Turtwig outbreak in Blueberry.... but the location apparently sucks... on a hill. need to hop on and hop off and with the Scyther outbreak nearby not many are spawning at a time... might be better to just try and isolation hunt it.

I try it once with a Grass shiny sandwich and get nothing.
I then try the isolation hunt once... 5 minutes in:

I first beat up a Bramblin outbreak completely and then head for a Mareep outbreak. I beat it till the odds improve and fly for Area Zero.
Kinda was gonna hunt something else in Violet, but my Scarlet game has a Mareep outbreak and I only need 1 more to complete the line. Might be able to double dip if I make an Electric shiny sandwich and hunt Sandy Shocks first.

So I make myself an Electric shiny sandwich and enter Area Zero to where Sandy Shocks lives. First I spy a repeat shiny Raichu:

Okay I'll catch it, but I'm reloading if I don't get Sandy Shocks and it doesn't have a mark. Already got one.
About 12 minutes left on the sandwich and I spy my target:

I catch it and head for the Mareep outbreak. 8 minutes left when I find my final purple wool sheep of the line:

Still 7 minutes left... now what... Oh I'll go to Poco Path and try for a pink Pawmi.
Nope, didn't happen. Got both my targets and a bonus Raichu though so... did pretty well =P

Time for a Dragon sparkling sandwich next for another crack at Roaring Moon. Don't like the thing but my shiny past paradox set won't be complete without it =P

2 minutes left on the clock as I pan my camera around while zooming through the caverns and spot a green Deino that loaded in behind me:

I try riding out the remainder at Casseroya Lake... mostly Tatsugiri... already have that. Was hoping to see Dratini, but they're in the minority here it seems.

March 8th:

Was gonna do something else today, but there's 2 outbreaks I'd like to attend.
First I'll hit up the Wooper outbreak. I already got a bunch of Quagsire so I can complete the line with this.

I beat the outbreak down 1 stage and then call Ceruledge back and take a look around before leaving, intending to go fetch the cafeteria meal before continuing further, but then I see this:

Well no reason to keep the outbreak anymore then. Time for a Wooper massacre... and then I'm off to the Rockruff outbreak.
After beating it down far enough to improve the odds, my 1st attempt with a sparkling Rock sandwich is a dud.
Second attempt... a blue pup show sup about halfway through:

18 minutes left on the meal powers so... maybe give Iron Thorns a try? I head to Area Zero.
Nope... mostly Lycanroc and Garganacls are spawning... only a few Iron Thorns.
Hmm... Minior outbreak in Blueberry... Sure.
I beat it down completely but nothing shows.

Gonna need an outbreak for the dusk form to complete the Rockruff line. I've already seen it once in the past, but was too busy that day to tend to it.

March 9th:

I first beat up a Chewtle outbreak and then head to Blueberry to make a Grass shiny sandwich.
First two attempts are duds. On the third attempt I spy a shiny Treecko 10 minutes in:

Gonna need to farm Herba again for another crack at a shiny Treecko...
I got a Winter Deerling outbreak though, was starting to wonder if it even existed. Never seen one before. Gonna need to tend to that first.

I beat it down to improve the odds and go fetch me the cafeteria shiny meal.
First attempt... nothing. Second attempt... 7 minutes in my outbreaks bug out and reset again... ugh.
Third attempt. Nothin. Fourth attempt. Nope.

Well better try and get some Herba from the 6 & 7 star raids I guess. I try reloading the Meowscarada raid a couple times, but it's the same rewards every time... can't do the time thing as I'll lose the Winter Deerling outbreak. Ugh.

Back to Cafeteria meals I guess. Stingy deer is being mean
Fifth attempt. Nope. 6th attempt... nope. 7th attempt... nope.

I then opt to do a 5 star raid and get a Sweet Herba. I then do Blueberry's 6 star raid and get a Spicy Herba. Great, I can make a sandwich now.
Either my luck is abysmal atm or something's bugged lol

I head back to the outbreak and make a Grass sandwich... probably gonna see a lot of Snover/Abomasnow as well... but if I do Normal I'll see lots of Porygon... *shrugs*
Sparkling sandwich attempt 1... nothing.
Second one... a Winter Sawsbuck shows up after a couple minutes:

March 10th:

I grind for some Herba first and then try for my 3rd and final Treecko. The first 2 shiny sandwiches are duds... or perhaps it loaded in in a bush or tree, idk.
I then decide to go beat down a Horsea outbreak completely as I haven't beaten an outbreak down yet... which seems to be a good luck charm.

I then go for my 3rd attempt and 30 seconds before the meal power ends I spy my target:

I then fire up Scarlet as you can apparently isolation hunt Axew there without Bagon showing up as well. First shiny sandwich is a dud.
On the second shiny sandwich attempt one shows up only a couple minutes in:

I then head to a pond where I can isolation hunt Dratini to ride out the remaining 26 minutes, but alas... nothing else showed.


I then go back to Violet (on my child account this time) and make a Fire sandwich and jump down into Area Zero. First one is a dud.

Almost passed it by. 16 minutes left on the shiny sandwich so I go to Alfornada to see if I can force Salandit/Salazzle to spawn with the same meal... yep.
Was doing this for a Salandit and figuring I'd get Salazzle at an outbreak, but with 6 minutes left I see this:

Welp, works for me as well I guess lol
I then make a Ground shiny sandwich... too much other stuff shows up. I reload and try a Steel shiny sandwich.... nothing but Iron Treads. Nice. A couple minutes in and I already spot a shiny one:

Catching it turned out to be quite a hassle. Had to use X Defenses on Ceruledge to live the Earthquake and Stomping Tantrums better. Had to use 2 Swords Dances to deal decent damage with False Swipe. So I then did it again of course to max out attack. Had to use multiple Max Potions and Full Restores while chucking Premier Balls.
Yare yare.

After catching it I look over the map and spy no interesting outbreaks. Nothing Steel type really comes to mind atm so I opt to just keep cruising around for a 2nd Iron Treads.
7 minutes left I and I actually find a 2nd one:

Same hassle to catch. Only a couple minutes left after it goes in and nothing else shows. Date rolled over during that... first one is caught on the 10th, second one on the 11th as I finished the meal power past midnight =P
Iron Treads was actually a lot easier to spot than I was expecting tbh. Iron Moth was the hardest Paradox so far to recognize as a shiny.

After catching it there's about 8 minutes left due to some "I don't wanna get in your Premier Ball" stubbornness from Iron Thorns.

I head to Poco Path, because if you stick to the area near where you fall down to meet Koraidon/Miraidon in early game, you only see Pawmi.
A little under 1 minute left and I spot a pink boi

March 11th:

This happend like an hour after my post yesterday lol.... I caught a random shiny Fletchling while hopping from Raid to Raid den while doing some Herba Mystica farming. I got quite good at spotting them =O

Kinda just tossed a Quick Ball at it... then later on remembered I wanted a Sport Ball Talonflame... welp too late now... I resumed raiding after catching it and saved already. Oh well.



March 12th:
I make a Fairy shiny sandwich and use the warp pad into the depths of Area Zero. It's time to finish off my Shiny Paradox collection. I encounter my first one about 8 minutes in:

By the time it finally goes into a Premier Ball I'm down to 18 minutes left. I keep zooming around as I want to catch another one in a Love Ball.
16:30 minutes left and I see this:

Well that showed up in quick succession... I like rode down and back up and not that far from the previous one a second one shows =O

It of course busts out of the Love Ball so it takes several reloads before I catch it.
I then leave Area Zero to make another sparkling Sandwich. Ice type this time. I want an Iron Bundle in a Heavy Ball =D

At some point I spy one off the side of the ledge to the central platform area.... I can't take a screenshot straight away as I need to lure it away to make sure it doesn't drop down lol
I save and encounter it in a safer spot:
