Pokemon Pearl Journal: Crystal Colosseum
Slightly off topic, but I consider Poketopia as part of my Sinnoh journey, so I wanted to include it in my journal.

Now that I've trained a lot with a full team of 6 pokemon, I decided to take a crack at another Poketopia Colosseum challenge. I went to the registration desk to enter my updated battle pass. I'm Rank 3 in every available colosseum except the Crystal Colosseum, which I've never challenged. I was told you start out at Rank 2 upon entering.
Pokemon team: (all level 30):
Spiritomb, Murkrow, Remoraid, Wingull, Girafarig, Hippopotas
The challenge was tournament style, starting with 16 trainers in single elimination double battle competitions. The winner faces the colosseum leader in a final match for the chance to increase Rank.
I have to admit, I was worried. Murkrow, Remoraid, and Wingull all aren't very good at defense, but they all held their own nicely. Spiritomb was definitely an anchor for the team and participated in every match. I even battled some pokemon I never saw before. I defeated every trainer I came up against, even once not having any of my own pokemon knocked out, granting me a free rematch if needed. So then, it was on to the leader.
Colosseum Leader Voldon. Apparently he likes electric-type pokemon, though only has two on his team, one being Elekid and another I never saw before. His toughest pokemon, though, had to be his Metang. A psychic/steel-type, with good offensive and defensive power. I was ill-prepared for the challenge, and lost my first match. I was allowed a rematch from earlier, so I took advantage of it. Spiritomb held up nicely. Remoraid wore down a few opponents, especially Voldon's Onix. And would you believe? It was Murkrow who almost single-handedly took out Voldon's Metang with its Night Shade attack. I'll never underestimate the usefulness of that attack ever again. It doesn't do a ton of damage, but it bypasses an opponent's defense, which I needed for this one. So that win ups my Rank to 3. I got a new pass design as well, and I'm now eligible to enter a new colosseum, the Sunny Park Colosseum, where I'll begin as Rank 2.
But for now, it's time to give these pokemon a rest. I had all 6 of them stored, then looked around to see who hasn't been trained in a while. After some thought, I took Barboach, Stunky, Clefairy, Wormadam (grass), Goldeen, and Aipom with me as I left Veilstone City and headed east on Route 215 to make my medicine delivery.
If anyone wants to skim through the entire Pokemon Pearl Journal, it's in the blog section of my MySpace page. Comments on the journal are always welcome, as well as suggestions!
