Pokemon Pearl Journal: Celestic Town
December 3, 2007
After the last several days of training my pokemon team, I decided to re-challenge Zac and Jen. I chose Aipom and Barboach to battle the duo. Aipom's Swift attack is handy in double battles, and Barboach had little trouble with knocking out Raichu, but that Gyarados was just tough. I lost twice before finally barely beating it on my third attempt. The intensity of the struggled caused Barboach to evolve into a Whiscash!

Time for a return trip to Poketopia, and to challenge the Sunnypark Colosseum. Whiscash, Stunky, Clefairy, Goldeen, Wormadam, and Aipom all had their part to play in the series of 7 battles. There were a good amount of electric-type pokemon used by the opposition which Whiscash easily handled. Stunky was a strong combatant with its Slash attack, plus Toxic would slowly sap the power of any opponents who were troublesome. Clefairy was a strong defender against special attacks, and would help out offensively with Magical Leaf or Sing opponents to sleep. Goldeen would use its Water Pulse attack when needed, but its Flail attack is what proved to be the most useful. Wormadam, all I can say is I am thoroughly impressed by its strong defense and special defense. It can stand up to a lot of damage. It's Hidden Power helped take out normal-types, plus Razor Leaf and Confusion helped out. I liked to open up with Aipom a lot to see what I was up against, and to do some damage with its Swift attack, which could hurt both enemies at once.
The first 6 battles weren't too much of a problem, I actually had 5 victories without losing a pokemon. The leader was a different story. I totally underestimated her Cherrim. After my first lost, I focused all my attacks on Cherrim, and once I took it out, Whiscash and the others took care of her other three pokemon. So now, I'm Rank 3 in all of the available colosseums.
Ok, back to Route 210, and on to Celestic Town!

After my win at Poketopia, I brought out a new team of pokemon: Grotle, Monferno, Prinplup, Gyarados, Mothim, and Vespiquen. We continued along Route 210, meeting new people and battling new trainers along the way. Today, the fog along the path began to thin out as I entered the very quaint little village called Celestic Town, tucked quietly in the shade of Mount Coronet. But I wasn't the only outsider visiting the town.
Team Galactic was also here looking to stir up trouble. They apparently couldn't find what they were looking for, so they were threatening to blow up the town! The Team Galactic grunt with the bomb had a Beautifly and a Croagunk with him, but my Vespiquen used Power Gem and my Mothim used Confusion to one-hit-KO both opponents. I also sent out Gyarados which was using its Intimidate ability. The leader of the group, a man named Cyrus, pulled out his team without further incident. I ran into this Cyrus before, he was the guy I ran into when I first entered Mt Coronet many months ago.
I see what Team Galactic was after. Celestic Town is supposedly the oldest town in the Sinnoh region and as such has many legends associated with it. I gave Cynthia's grandmother the Old Charm I was to deliver, and in return she showed me around the ruins in the center of town. Eterna City had monuments to 2 legendary pokemon, Dialga and Palkia. Here in Celestic Town, the carvings make reference to three "spirits" which represent various emotions. It also says something about the three coming from "the one." It will be interesting to see what I find on the rest of my journey.

I spent some time around Celestic Town training with my pokemon. Then I decided to start the long journey back to Hearthome City for another gym battle.
On the way, I attempted another Colosseum challenge in Poketopia. I entered a Rank 3 Main Street Colosseum challenge, but unfortunately lost the 3rd battle thanks to a Dunsparce that knows Rollout. I'll have the opportunity to re-challenge it, but after my gym battle.
I've been really focusing on training Grotle, Monferno, and Prinplup on the way, as they will be the pokemon I'll use at the gym. I finally reached the city, and went to the Pokemon Center to give my pokemon a rest.
