SM Megas Already Revealed in Trailers?

Eh, I'm kind of 50/50 on this. I could've sworn they did this for XY and ORAS too, but I just went and looked back at a few of the trailers, and seems they didn't.
Either way I don't really care - all Pokemon listed are over hyped anyway IMO, I'd rather lesser celebrated Pokemon gets megas.

Megas aren't going anywhere. The feature has been promoted far too much for them to just throw it away. Challenge settings, Pokemon following you etc, those features weren't that big and weren't that hyped up. But megas are everywhere. They're in the anime, the merchandise etc. They're returning. They'll just be getting the new stuff out the way first. I expect we'll get new megas announced around September.

I think this point may be a solid one. Maybe they'll be keeping the reveal of new Megas under wraps until it gets closer to game release due to the focus on revealing new mechanics first, or heck maybe won't even reveal any new Megas until the games are already out.

If you look back at OR/AS, we had new Megas not in X/Y but they were all revealed before the game release and that meant none of us would discover new Megas ourselves as we played so maybe Game Freak reacted to that and decided to make new Megas a surprise again.

Irc Masuda said that the criteria for who gets Megas are Balance, Popularity, and Creativity. Flygon failed to get a design that they felt adequate so despite being a fan favorite it didn't get a Mega in either of the Gen VI pairs.
It was actually Shigeru Ohmori who said that Mega Pokemon are created to bring balance to the competitive game, because the fans like the Pokemon, the Mega has a purpose in the storyline, or because GameFreak's staff just wanted to work on a particular Pokemon. He said this in a video interview with GameXplain.

So really, there's no way to determine what Pokemon will get Megas because there's no set standard criteria for them. It's really up to the developers on which Pokemon get Megas in what game.

And they're not going to fully announce everything because they'd like to leave things up as a surprise for the players. GameFreak is horrifically tight-lipped about what information they reveal and when. They're not going to put everything out there for the fans to know about before the games' release. They'd want us to be surprised by something.

But they do give us just enough hints to speculate if we wish. And that's what this is: speculation. It would be really awesome to see a Krookodile Mega, or to finally see a Flygon Mega if the artist block for it is broken.

But I wouldn't count Mega evolution as a one-time thing. GameFreak's paying attention to the competitive game even more now (what with the tournament circuit being a big deal) and Mega evolution is a great way to balance the issues and bring normally never-used Pokemon to the battlefield. So I think Mega Pokemon are going to stick around for a while.

They did reveal all the Megas in OrAs before release...

Isn't Mega Evolution dead now?

I believe Sun/Moon is a good starting point for GF to slowly stop creating new Megavolutions. Why I think this? Well, if they keep making new and new Megavolutions, one day, we'll end up going around collecting gazillion Mega Stones. But it's still a big thing though, so maybe they'll still make some to old 'mons and also to pair with the already-existing ones (Butterfree and Slowking comes to mind).

Anyway, when Sun/Moon were announced, a lot of pipz abandoned the hopes of PKMN Z and Zygarde and its forms playing a role in supposed third XY game. Some pipz accepted the fact that Zygarde's special forms and role will only be exclusive to the animé.

...And then GameFreak officially revealed Zygarde's formes are in Sun and Moon. This got fans happy, of course. Why wouldn't they?

Anyway, that made pipz speculate that maybe these "animé exclusive" thingies will not remain exclusive only to the animé. They immediately looked at Ash-Greninja. What is this? Is it a new type of Megavolution without the need of Mega Stones?

Fans dubbed it as "synchro evolution" or whatever, and I believe this will replace Mega Evolution, solely for the purpose that GameFreak will no longer need to create lots of Mega Stones for older 'mons.

So uh, yeah... That's just my two cents on the matter. Sorry for the long read. I didn't mean to ramble on like that. ^_^

Well, tbh this was one of the first theories I came up with when I saw the new Sun and Moon trailers.

I would love the idea of getting Mega Flygon, Milotic and Dragonite as multiple posters (you know, people who post, not actual posters lol) have said, even though (as Pinkie-Dawn brought up) we would get Dragoniteite, and I would love it.{XD}

Personally, I wouldn't mind a Mega Pangoro, but I'm just worrying design-wise. Likewise, Mega Krookodile wouldn't be too bad either, as long as they make a nice looking design for it. Mega Fearow is something I would see people who draw Mega Evolution fan-art make, but I don't think I'd like it that much.

Anyway, that wasn't the point of my post. I actually wanted to bring up the fact that it looks like only Pangoro and Krookodile actually seem to have a trainer. This could mean that the battle that was shown in the trailer is an actual in-game trainer battle, while the others were pre-programmed wild encounters that are not going to take place in the actual game. Or the current engine just doesn't support double wild encounters, in that case you can scrap that from the 'possible features'-list.

Also, to continue with what destinedjagold said, I think the crystals may have something to do with Synergy Burst as we saw it in Pokkén Tournament. Mega Evolutions were a type of Synergy Burst in that game, which could possibly mean that there isn't a reason for them to stop introducing Mega Evolutions. Maybe I should just make an entire new thread about this though. I'll do, one day...

Mega Evolution is not going away. It was THE most hyped up feature of Generation 6 and Game Freak has rode that train too hard to stop now. While they do love to randomly remove features for no reason, they have never actually reverted any changes to the battle system. Mega Evolution is a new part of the battle system, and so is very likely to stay, and permanently.

As for the theory proposed in the OP and its video.....I suppose it's possible. It at least has some semblance of evidence, unlike a lot of Pokemon speculation which tends to be completely baseless crack theories, though there is this part of me that just wonders if people's desperation for Milotic and Flygon megas just makes people automatically assume Flygon/Milotic will get megas just for merely appearing in a trailer. You could even take it a step further and say that since Eevee appeared in one of the trailers that there's going to be a new Eeveelution. Before someone mentions how they've only released Eeveelutions in even numbered generations, I am aware and I don't care.

Mega Krookodile would be great btw

Eh. I would be okay if Sun and Moon had no new mega's. I never was a big fan of the feature. I would rather mega's be actual evolutions of the Pokemon. That would be awesome.

But I'm sure mega's will return. So if they do, I just wish for Flygon :3

Isn't Mega Evolution dead now?

Is there any basis whatsoever behind this post?
Flygon, Milotic, and Dragonite? yes please.

Fearow, Pangoro, and Krookodile? k e e p t h e m.

I'm not gonna get my hopes up or anything. My excitement is saved for the actual new things. When the next game in line comes along the megas will be at the top of my list but as for right now, I'm not fussed about who gets a mega or not.

The theory makes sense, but I can't see them following through with it. Mainly because I don't see those three I disagreed with getting megas. Milotic, Flygon and Dragonite make sense because they're fan favourites but the other three? Not so sure. They might just be the Pokemon available within Alola along with the new ones.

Eh, I don't agree with you. There were several Megas in gen 6 that were at least moderately surprising. I don't believe a Mega for Pangoro or Krookodile would be any more bizarre than the Mega for Audino, and Fearow isn't much less noteworthy a pokémon than ones like Pinsir. No, none of the pokémon I've mentioned are hugely iconic or popular, but the past has shown that you really don't need to be a standout pokémon to get a Mega.

I mean if nothing else you could ask why on Earth they'd include pokémon like Pangoro in a trailer if they're not trying to hint at something. The randomness of the pokémon might actually indicate that there's a reason they're being given attention.
