Spyro, Drake, Jak & Daxter - The Playstation Fan Club

It's okay to talk about the games though, I mean...I don't mind *some* talk about the games, as long as we don't derail what the club's really about xP. Keep in mind of the actual topic of the club, alright kiddies? :3

Everyone seems so obsessed with Jak & Daxter, and I haven't even played the series yet. I should really give it a go. Even saw the original Jak & Daxter game at the San Diego swap meet for $7 and I regret buying it. I think that should be the weekly game feature, Zoro. :P

I was just kidding when i said this would become the Jak&Dax club, but yeah, we might have overdone it a bit, sorry
And i wouldnt consider myself obsessed, i just have never really talked about the games with anyone until now...

I have not even played any game in the Jak and Daxter series either. Sometime I would need to find the PSP games in that series and play them.

I think on the PSP there is only a game that just features Daxter if i remember correctly.
On PSVita there is the whole trilogy in one game

Spyro was an awesome game. I only played the first 3 games though

Spyro is an awesome game! And dont worry, after the 3 first games they start getting really bad, culminating in skylanders...

So as Minerva said, we still have to decide on the first Weekly Feature!! So everyone share their opinion (:

I was just putting up a reminder, that's all. :P

For anyone that has played games with the Vita, or owns a Vita right now, how is it? Can anyone provide brief details about the specs and gaming quality from a personal view?

I do own a vita, which was a christmas gift. I have to say the graphics are amazing for a handheld, really.
The image is crisp and colorful, and having 2 joysticks makes it feel like you are playing a home-console.
I honestly think the biggest weakness of the Vita is the little amount of games there is, thats it

I will put up pics in a bit, so you guys can see for yourself

That's what Sony needs to step it up a notch when it comes to those handhelds. There's not much choices in terms of games. If there was a possibility that most of the PS3/4 games would also be a Vita game, then I'd go get the console in a heartbeat.

Yeah that is the one thing i really dont like about Sony...
Well you can play PSOne classic on them, which well is at least something

I think Sony has done an okay job when it comes to pushing out games for the Vita, it's just a lack of some good third party support.

I played the original Syphon Filter and first Crash game on my old PSP. I believe I just..played them more than my other games. I'm glad to hear the Vita has kept that concept, especially for those who want to feel a little nostalgic and not spend more on an old PS1 console.

Speaking of which, I should go on Ebay sometime and check out old PS1 games and maybe buy some! They should be pretty cheap...I hope!

I've played some Crash game on my PSP before, but don't exactly remember which it was. :( Crash of the Titans, I think? It was very entertaining, though, would go out of my way to play again if they decide to remake it for PS4.

Thats a very good idea! I have no clue though how much PS1 games cost these days

Crash of the Titans was fun, although i think i still prefer the "classic" Crash Bandicoot games.
I would go nuts if they made a new one for the PS4!!

So. have we agreed on Jak&Daxter being the first weekly feature? (:

That link for real oO makes me want to buy one immediately!!

Alright, so the first weekly feature will be Jak & Daxter!!

To get us all started: What do you like most about the Jak&Daxter Games??

What do I like most?... uhm... yeah... You couldn't asked a more difficult question but yeah, here goes nothing!

If I really think about it, what kept me playing on and on as a kid and teenager. It was probably that despite the sometimes serious tones and aspects in the series (Invasions, Civil war uprise, military state) The series still found it's way to make me, and surely others, laugh at some points. Let it be Daxter's "Goodbye messages" to Jak if he fails in Jak 2. Or the interactions between Daxter and the various charachters in this world. Now that I think about it, the game would be half as good or even worse without the implementation of Daxter. His role was to bring comedic relief, in a except that serious Jump'n'run game, okay except the first one. I think, that everyone can agree that we love Daxter in the games, he is jumpy, he is full of himself, but also he is a great hero if needed. And that makes him even a better charachter, even if he doesn't do much to bring the story more aheah (He let's Jak do the job basically) The games would feel so more empty without him

That is why Daxter/comedic relief is my favourite in the Series

I AM SCREAMING

What do you like most about the Jak&Daxter Games?

Ummm everything??? Let me start with the first game. I like the easy to play nature. It's easy to just pick up the game and start playing. It's not relaxing of course, but it's not chaotic either and it's easy to just fall into. Jak is adorable in this game too. He doesn't talk, but his facial expressions are absolutely priceless. From the way he looks at Daxter's new ottsel body to the way he looks at Keira, it's just hysterical.

I really love the drastic turn of the second game. Jak becoming a huge jerk was completely unexpected. And the turn the gameplay makes is like we've fallen into a completely different series, but I feel that it's done really well rather than making you feel like you're not playing a Jak and Daxter game. You know you are, but things have gone really sour for our heroes and you just want to be a part of what's going on. Jak still has insane facial expressions too. Sometimes I'm just like "jak water u doin.....JAAAAAK"

The third game is my absolute favorite in the series. Jak matures into a fantastic character (which I mean, he did that over the course of the second as well, compare from the beginning of the game to the end OKAY MOVING ON), we get some awesome backstory about him, he gets a seriously needed hair cut, and BAM badass. I just enjoy playing this one more than the first two as well. It's like a perfect blend of the gameplay styles of the first games. It takes the easy to pick up nature from the first game, keeps the shooting, removes the rage inducing difficult from the second, and there you go. Jak III.

Oh and Jak X is a great stress reliever. Just shoot people in cars and swear up a storm!

I was going to say pretty much the same thing, Jak.

But anyway...
What do you like most about the Jak&Daxter Games??
Anything and everything!

JAD: TPL was a great first game. It showed immaturity of Jak and Daxter. I love how you set of on an adventure because you accidentally flew back and pushed your best friend into a pool of dark Eco; thus turning him into an ottsle. One of most powerful beings of the universe! But going through the game, it has good characters and places that, as of Jak II and onward, I wish we could have revisited. Everywhere had its own unique charm to it. Plus collecting precursor orbs and power cells was fun yet stressful.

Jak II was totally unexpected. When I first played it, it was like it wasn't a JAD game, but it still had that charm. I'll admit that it was weird hearing Jak talk at first, but became used to it quickly and adapt to his loss of innocence and jerk behavior due to dark Eco experiments but a very great story line and great characters that kept showing up (honestly loved that compared to the first game). I also loved that we got to revisit Samos' old hut. I just hoped that we could've seen other old places like the other sages huts, snowy mountain, ect. but that didn't happen. By the end I love how every one matured through-out the game. And I still want to see what that ruby key does!.

Jak 3 was a great blend of the other 2 games. It was easier than Jak II, harder than TPL, with some harder bosses as you go through the game. Jak getting banished to the wasteland was a great twist from Jak II. It's great to know that there was people outside the war zone of haven city. Plus this game was a great providing Jaks back story. Yeah it was great that damos was Jaks dad, but why did he have to figure out so late! And while his dad died on his lap!! I mean come on; that would've been great to see a father son relationship going on. But anywho, Jak gaining light powers was a great way to balance out the dark ones.. I'm so glad that Daxter got pants. Even though, it would be nice to see what he'd look like as a human again.

Jak X was a great racing game, especially since Jak loves racing. I liked all the characters introduced and all the cars, but hated how you couldn't walk around from place to place. That's the one thing I seriously HATED. But other then that it was a fun game; even to release my anger on.

Daxter was fun as well. I know this weeks thing is about Jak AND daxter, but it's still part of that family ( :P ). It was a good game to focus on Daxter himself instead of Jak. And it was fun to see haven city being under some construction. Fun game for a the PSP.

Jak an Daxter: the lost frontier was something different. It wasn't made by Naughty Dog (T.T) but was an ok game. It was disappointing that it was only Jak, Kiera, and Daxter. No Samos, no torn, no one else from the previous games. But there was new areas which was cool, but no old ones. And this game totally doesn't have the charm that Naughty Dog put into there JAD games. So yeah. This one game was disappointing to me.

Haha nice to see you all like the J&D games :D

I have to agree on everything that has been said.
The games are all great and somehow feel different from one another, which makes every adventure unique and fun. The best thing to me would be the 2 main characters and how they evolve throughout the games.

Another Topic: Who do you like More - Jak or Daxter - and why??
