The PokeCommunity Presents: GT 2018!​

If you can see this, then congratulations, you're going to be a part of making the PokeCommunity Get-Together of 2018 a success by hosting an event or events. This section is where you will plan your events and prepare them ready to be posted to the main Get-Together forum when that is created and made public. Hosting an event for the Get Together is a lot of fun, but there's a lot of responsibility too because we're counting on you to have your events ready on time and well-managed during the GT itself.

So What Do We Do?
To start with, you or your co-host (if you have one), need to set up a thread in this forum. You use that thread to plan exactly what your events will entail, the rules, how you determine the winner etc etc. You'll have until the fifteenth of July to finish your planning and let us know you're read to go. We'll spend the week up to the twenty-second reviewing anything that we think needs tweaking and deciding on the point value for winning the events.

I am putting my suggestion in for a Splatoon 2 event. Of course I would love to have some help, especially those who are in different timezones.

I should have time for this!

I had a long silence on this matter due to exams and whatnot, but I'm still content on taking the egg swap for this year.

Well, just like every year, I would like to see some kind of Challenge and would like to host one.

CaH, regular and Pokémon movie nights, Yu-Gi-Oh, prettiest profile, egg swap and competitive events would also be nice. I wouldn't mind hosting Yu-Gi-Oh one.

I'd like to do Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in place of our overlord Achromatic, may he rest in peace. If someone else is to do this, I nominate Wolf.

WE (read: either myself or Don if he wants it) ARE ACTUALLY HAVING A PTCG EVENT THIS TIME.

I'd also love to do a quiz, probably based on video game music, but if you feel this mess is too much responsibility for one teenager that's cool

Also a Mario Tennis Aces tournament if we can pull it off. Or sm5sh depending on release date. I'll host the former if you want.

Also I'm helping Zemanahrad with his challenge and nothing he can say will convince me otherwise. It's my sub too boss :)

I was thinking of hosting a couple of One Night Ultimate Werewolf games, a Mafia variant that lasts, as the name suggests, only one night. I understand that could possibly a bit of a Mafia overkill in one GT though, so I understand if that'd be to much. (In which case I'd gladly help out with the other Mafia event instead, if you need an extra GM.)

I also like to host a Dungeons & Dragons one-shot of four-ish hours. This will probably be using the fifth edition, but if there's interest I can host a nice ol' 4th edition dungeon crawl as well!

And there's another thing I'm working on, but I don't want to spoil too much about it just yet, as it will be a sort of spin-off of yet another thing that will be up on the forums soon. gimmepie already knows what I'm talking about, but if you need to know more, feel feel free to ask!

I was thinking of hosting like a mapping event, Map for Alola.

where participants make a map that fits in a gen 1-4 kind of tiles (in any software they like)
and then a panel of judges scrutinize them on the basis of
setting(how it feels like if it was in alola)
tile errors
ingame perspective
and all that good stuff.

and then the best one wins.

It would be fun hosting a contest to see who can create the most detailed and maddeningly puzzling gym ever, with hundreds of mazes and/or other stuff.
They can create it in any platform they want, and the top five most excellently made ones will be selected by two or three judges.
Anyone up for this?

So I'm hearing about legendaries and points. How far off am I if I'm guessing everyone will join a team of one of the Tapus and has to try to score as many points for it? Would be nice to hear a bit more on the general theme and setup of the GT. :)

That's pretty much it. Just like last year, people will be sorted to different teams, this time based on 4 Tapus of Alola and then compete in Island Challenge (events) for the Z-Crystals (points). It's up to you if you decide to do a little bit of RP and incorporate this theme or not. But you have to decide if your challenge will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place like or everyone who do X is winner. For example, my events (Challenge, CAH and movie nights) are all the later. And to make the event of course.

Worth noting that an option for events that would otherwise be non-competitive is to decide which team wins based on which team has the highest participation rate. In case anyone had concerns there.

The amount of points will be determinated by us after the event is ready.

Forgive my tardiness, but I only received the Event Organiser role yesterday and didn't realise there was a deadline for the 15th. I hope it's not too late for me to add my thread here?

We decided to do small change - originally we wanted to give points only to the 1st place to avoid mess with points (something that happened last year), but after seeing a lot of people wanting to have more that one place awarded, we decided to change it so 3 places will get points.

I know GT starts in 2 days, but if you want to change your awards to fit this, do so. I'll try and bump threads where it could matter.
