Assuming most of you here own a 3DS, how do you feel about streetpass? How many tags have you've gotten? How many people have you encountered so far? And how often do you receive them? Just discuss anything about streetpasses.

I love the way some games utilize the StreetPass feature - AC: NL, for example, the Happy Home Showcase helped me out so much when I was hunting specific furniture pieces. :D

Bravely Default though, I heard some complaints from people who had problems rebuilding Norende, because not everyone StreetPasses. Finishing Norende isn't vital to the game but it does help out a lot imo, so they probably could have used the feature a little better or in a different way, seeing as not everyone has that option.

So in games, I think the feature should be used in a way that doesn't put players at a huge disadvantage if they don't or can't StreetPass often.

But anyway, I also love the minigames in StreetPass Plaza - I only have the default two, but I'm kind of obsessed with finishing those puzzle panels and collecting hats from Mii I & II. Has anyone actually purchased any of the other StreetPass minigames, and are they worth it?

I don't like Street Pass, I think it's a stupid way of giving out promotional stuff. But then, this is the frustration talking - it took me forever to rebuild Norende in Bravely Default, and it's nothing short of a miracle that I managed to pick up an Eon Ticket considering how scarcely Nintendo handed it out initially. Plus I have several puzzles I really want to finish, but I doubt I ever will, as the only way to get some of the pieces is via Street Pass...and then only if the person I happen to pass has the piece I'm looking for.

It works well in theory, but the biggest problem is that its only really people in Japan that can utilize it properly, as practically everyone there has a 3DS. I usually encounter two or three people when I take my 3DS out, but that's primarily because I almost always pop into my local GAME store every time I go into town, and the staff have theirs on hand with them at all times. Otherwise, I hardly ever get a hit. It's not a very Western-friendly feature, really.

Still, it could be worse...at least it isn't vital to finishing any of the games I've played. Not yet, anyway. It's just extremely frustrating that they offer useful or desirable things exclusively via Street Pass in this country when practically nobody uses it.

Speaking of which, sometimes I'm wondering how to finish my Puzzle Swap, since some of the puzzle pieces are only obtainable if someone else who owns the 3DS have it, and finishing it is a pain when nobody used it in my country too.

The only place where I ever can get street pass is at a con, and it's kinda annoying.
Also I don't often take my 3ds with me because I don't trust people and don't want it stolen.

I've never cared much about Streetpass, seeing as how I never really pass by people who own a 3DS. Fortunately they never seem to give away things via Streetpass that I really care about. But clearly it's designed with Japan in mind, since Japan is pretty crowded and a larger portion of the population owns a 3DS.

@thing about re-building Norende in Bravely Default: You don't need Streetpass to get extra villagers. You can just use the internet to have the game randomly make friends with other people (it doesn't register them in your 3DS Friends List) and get more villagers to build the town up. I had ~40 villagers by the end of the game and had all but one shop/building maxed out.

This is seriously the only game I have that really even utilizes streetpass, and it did not help me, lol.

Buuuut, I don't have that many 3DS games. Pokemon X and OR don't really use it all that well - X hardly used it at all, and there's already enough that's been said on PC about the Eon Ticket distribution. :P
And then LoZ doesn't really use it all that well, either. OoT doesn't use it at all, and I don't think I've ever passed another human being who plays A Link Between Worlds.

I guess I'm not really missing out on much since I live in the middle of nowhere most of the year. But this becomes a tourist hotspot every summer and I get a lot of hits on my 3DS every time I walk outside, so I do kinda wish some games would do a little more with it sometimes. Like how the best they could do for X/Y was spam you with the hologram lady and tell you that you got a few more pokemiles. Then they upgraded in ORAS to spam you with secret bases, which the passerby system already does pretty efficiently. Whoopdeedoo.

I live in an area where I average 2 or 3 street passes in a week.

I think it is an okay idea. I like the little puzzle game. Every person I interact with seems to have at least one pink piece I could use. It isn't insanely fun, but it is a neat little idea.

I find most games that try to utilize it annoying though. Since Nintendo knows a lot of people don't get many street passes whatever street pass features most games have are completely unnecessary, and therefore on some level pointless.

I like it ive had a few street passes but not loads, I don't live in a big city so don't get the benefit of large groups of peaple with other 3DS's.

Its very Japan orintated with its mass population density and low crime rate (i.e here in the UK wouldn't take my 3DS to a Big (or small) City (or town) because it may get stolen!!!).

I take it with me to work nearly ever day. I'll usually just get a couple of Miis. And I think most of that is from the train ride. Considering the field I work in and the fun environment of my workplace, I would think there'd be more 3DSes present, but sadly not so. Only two other people and I rarely tag them :(

I guess I live in a relatively busy/populated area, I usually get at least 10 StreetPasses on a normal day, like through transit and walking around campus. And I think that's probably a lot lower than it can be, seeing as I don't actually spend a lot of time on campus these days if I can help it, and I really only walk between two or three buildings.

Most of the people I StreetPass have almost every puzzle panel completed too, so it's definitely not just a popular thing in Japan.

Depending on how many classes I have per day, I'll usually get anywhere between 3 and 10 when I head to campus. Depends on the time of year, too, since in summer term, there are way less people but in fall or winter term, it's usually more common to tag people. At any rate, it's enough to need to check Mii Plaza once or twice a week.

:( My biggest beef with StreetPass is that there are quite a few Japan-only puzzles and my main 3DS is from Japan, so occasionally I'll get a complimentary piece to start off a new puzzle and then it never comes out West so no one else has those puzzles pieces. I have so many blank puzzles because I can only get a few pieces from using coins... and I'll never finish them unless I go to Japan or something. (When I go on vacation and streetpass Japanese tourists I'm always SO EXCITED if they have puzzles pieces for me!!) I realize this is more my own fault than a real fault in the system though, lmao.

I love the concept of StreetPass though. I think I'd love it a lot less if I didn't live in a university town and attend a school known for geeks and nerds... and it helps that when I head out to visit my parents or go to doctor's appointments or something, it's in a big, crowded city. I imagine if I lived elsewhere it would be a very useless feature. Not much reason to even bother leaving wireless on in the hopes of passing someone if all it's gonna do is drain your battery with no benefit....

Streetpass is only beneficial if you live in heavily populated areas. I receive no benefits from it because my city is so spread out :/ I would use it all the time though if I lived in a bigger city

Zeria pointed out the major flaws of this feature.

I know it sounds cool, maybe it is, but not when you are really missing something on the game because of it.

I keep hearing this and... I don't know what it means.

I would bring my 3DS to university. I got zero. Nothing. Not one StreetPass ever.

I now work downtown in my country's most populous city, taking public transit, navigating crowds, walking to lunch, working in an office gamer-like people, etc. I get like two to three passes a day. Which I guess is an improvement over zero, but I don't know what else I can do.

The best I ever did was when I brought my 3DS to an airport. Filled up super quick.

Only problem I have with Streetpass is when it comes to games that use it, you can only have it active for a max of twelve games at a time. Want to activate it for another game? You can't without deactivating it on another game. When I have had my 3DS on me, I recall the max Streetpasses I got at one time was four. There have been times I have gotten one or zero.

I was thinking of Japan when I first wrote that. It seems more beneficial to them since there are masses of people and more people may use their 3DS and its streetpass features there. I guess what would be better to say is "heavily populated areas where most people use their 3DS's"

A lot of people have a 3DS in Montreal, so I'm quite happy with the Street Pass feature :)
Although sometimes I find it a chore because I get tagged EVERYTIME I go out and I gotta use those 10 people I tagged since I can't tag more than 10 people at a time.
