Am mostly meh, but this is Nintendon't; there was not much to expect there.
Expected it to look a little more different. Is not complaining. Liked the Switch. Improved the kickstand (maybe), which is nice.
Misses the more colorful controllers. Gave it a better visual than 98% black.
On the one hand I'm somewhat bummed. On the other hand, we all know at some point they're gonna release the Piñata Colorful Edition. For about the same price tag or higher. The S1 already didn't have that much variability but at least with the S2 patterns a more consistent look is provided; the first S1 joycons felt like pastel / birthday cake finish on a
selva negra tbh.
I don't care how much it is I'm getting one the moment I'm able! That design looks so sick, I hope it feels as good as it looks!
Absolutely insane to me that they switched out the slide-in functionality of the controllers for whatever this is. Kids are going to immediately snap that connector that's on the console itself and then the whole thing needs to be repaired. How on earth is this the approved final design? Wild. Wild!!!!
That's part of the plan, silly! Nintendon't will continue to try and milk people (and creators) for all it's worth, and much like with phones, having to replace the whole thing means they can add you an extra price tag on the replacement. And people will love it and eat it, on silly like the other quoted post.
I'm admittedly not sold on the Switch 2's shown information so far but what unsolds me the
most (apart from the obvious reset of the DRM / compatibility race) is the S2's physical size. The first one was already a bit too large to be practical as a handheld - no possibility to bag carry on a bus or train ride, for one, and unlike the 3DS neither Switch seems to have slots for safety straps. We hit peak portability with the 3DSXL, I think, and there's probably no way to go back to that. Seems to me like S2 is more intended as a Return to Docked than anything else.
And frankly, between the shown specs and format info, and already since the time of the rumors and leaks, I'm kinda appalled that Nintendon't would dare to release this
when the Steam Deck literally exists. Bu who knows, maybe there's still time for the company to pull up a whole plot twist. Hope's the last thing one loses.
