Alex Mercer and the Tenth Doctor strode into the Mobius Inn. Just by looking at them, Roxy could tell they didn't want to be disturbed.


The Doctor guided Alex towards the Smoothie Bar and ordered a banana and bacon smoothie for himself and a strawberry one for Alex.


The Prototype accepted the drink politely enough, but he still gave a very uneasy aura.


"You're going to have to talk about it sooner or later, Alex," the Doctor said quietly. Alex nodded curtly. 


"Believe me, I wish I didn't. The Conversion Bureau is...extremely irritating to me. Yes, I could refuse to kill ponies, but then I've got both sides hunting me down. The humans see me as a mistake to be eliminated. The ponies see me as a borderline eldritch abomination and let's face it, I'm maybe five steps away from becoming one."


"But you've never taken those steps," the Doctor pointed out.


"A few Star Wars Loops and you'll always hear that mantra: "Quick and seductive, the Dark Side is. Quicker to aid you in a fight, it is." Alex said, pulling off a passable imitation of Yoda's dialect. "I've used my power in anger and the rush is certainly invigorating, but after, you feel like the walking dead."


The Doctor nodded, nursing his drink. "You are correct. But what about the times you've used it in defense of those dear to you?"


Alex took a breath and a long drink. "Much more alive then I'd ever felt," he admitted. "I know my limits. I know my strength and weaknesses."


He raised his drink. "I've taken to following your philosophy, my dear Doctor."


"Which one?" the Doctor asked.


"Never cruel nor cowardly..."


"Never give up, never give in," the Doctor finished, tapping his drink against the Prototype's. "Sure I can't interest you in a banana-bacon smoothie?"


"There's lines even I won't cross when it comes to mixing foods," Alex warned. He then took a sip of his smoothie and did a spit-take.


"Gets 'em every time," the Doctor said with a cheeky grin, sipping his strawberry shake.

's cuz the dub names, when they aren't puns, can be super vanilla and waaaay too forgettable. Say what you will about Red and Blue, but you there aren't many people you can get them confused with.

Well, there's also Hilbert. His name is the corruption of a standard one, but we don't talk about him.

But if someone mentions Cynthia or Ethan in casual conversation, my mind's not gonna jump straight to the Pokermen characters. Not saying the Japanese names aren't guilty of this, too, but it's glaring here.
