The girls vs boys thing is weird. o_o In my Calculus class, with the exception of one guy, it's the girls who tend to be better at the course. Yet in my Discrete/Geometry course...the guys are better at the math hands down. @_@; Of course, the ratio of guys to girls in Discrete is much less even...so maybe that has to do with it. =\ I didn't take probability/data management though so I can't figure it out myself. D;

It's also amazing how many post-secondary options need Calculus. o_O; When I was looking through the different universities and such for my applications, almost all of them needed Calculus for any science, even if it wasn't really a math-based science. o_O And then it's needed for a lot of completely-unrelated things too. Huh.

^Why I'm not going into a math based career.

Speaking of genders involved in specific courses; out of 30 students in my French class, 3 are guys. XD

And seriously, guys, enough with the drama. I get enough off of PC to bother with it here.

Yeah, almost all of my classes starting with next semester are on the a dependancy-chain with calculus. IE calc 2 needs calc 1, circuits needs calc 1, certain classes need calc 2...I'm really going to have to switch my schedule around to make things work, since I am behind. XD; But oh well. I'm just curious as to how I'll end ip applying it. I really don't even know what calc is. o_o;

Nobody knows what Calculus is. =D Everyone knows who invented it, but when you ask your teacher or check the textbook, they can't tell you. XDD I had a discussion about it with...someone, the other day. Don't remember who it was though. :[

Anyway, David, omg. French. XDD In grade 9 it was pretty equal since the course was mandatory. In grade 10, we had two guys. In grade 11, we had three. In grade 12, we went back down to two. XD It was so imbalanced. And I don't know why. French is awesome. D:

I want the classes you guys take. There's a severe lack of girls in all of them. :l
David, what are you going to do then?

Well, I'm not 100% sure yet. I'll most likely be going into the study Geography. A lot of the university courses don't require math, so thats a plus. XD

...I hated geography when I took it. XD; I think it was my lowest mark in grade 9.

It's not as fun when there's a distinct gap in the number of guys and girls in a class. D: I like it better when it's even.

edit: Absolitude? Newton was one of the guys. XD The other was, um...I forget his name. Leibniz or something.

Oh, i coulda sworn the devil made calculus to get back at me for...never mind. So not to get off topic here but what do you guys think of what'll happen after d/p.I mean it's not only a big day for us gamers, but also for the people who make Pokemon games. Soon they will be able to make games that you all will be playing via wifi on your ds, all because Pokemon d/p came out. I mean wouldn't that be cool to see 3d wifi compatible games you can play on your ds? Yes i know completely off topic but i don't like talking about math. Nothing against you lightning, just too many numbers.

Well, off-topic is bad for DCC but I'm going to bed now anyway (gah, it's so late DX). XD;

I'm really looking forward to D/P. Though...not from a future-gamer standpoint...I just can't wait for the opportunity to lose valiantly battle my friends online. XD;

cal·cu·lus (kal´kyōō ləs, -kyə-) n., pl. -|li´ (-lī´) or -lus|es [L: see CALCULATE] 1 any abnormal stony mass or deposit formed in the body, as in a kidney or gallbladder or on teeth: see TARTAR (sense 2) 2 Math. a) any system of calculation using special symbolic notations b) INFINITESIMAL CALCULUS

- Websters New World Dictionary of American English, Third College Edition (1988)

Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz developed calculus independently of each other.

XD, how I find that so wrong in my case. I only knew that Newton had some part in inventing it and that's well it, until I read some more of the posts above^^. I know what it is though, I've actually only just start learning calculus this year which is good.

...I believe I just killed the DCC with my calculus talk. Bah. Most things academic just seem to zoom over the heads of a good portion of this forum's populace anyway...

"I've noticed an infestation here. Everywhere I look, in fact. Nothing but undeveloped, unevolved, barely conscious pond scum, totally convinced of their own superiority as they scurry about their short, pointless lives."

It's not that its zooming over my head. It's just I have no intent of ever taking calculus so I don't really care that much. XD

Well, a good portion of this forum's populace doesn't come here to discuss academics. In fact, I'm pretty sure most come here to get away from it. Probably why. XD

...I'll just accept your explanations and move along to a different topic now. XD

On a completely unrelated note, today was Stephanie Sheh's birthday. Due to laziness and a slightly perceptible undercurrent of dub-bashing around these parts, I chose not to announce it. XD

I'm going to make this "short", because there's a D/P topic going on right now and I so want to move onto that topic.

I have tried time and again to apologise for this, but it always goes unheard. Especially when it comes to people like you. You may not remember well, but you may recall that your real reason for blocking me

And as for your quote, I understand your distinction between newbies and 'n00bs', but that's all you seem to blame things on.... Yet instead of trying to resolve it, you blamed 'the n00bs'. Unprofessional in my eyes.

And finally, as an administrator, I'm sure that there are many people who look up to you and respect you, and you have a responsibility to show as much respect when taking action — refraining from just criticising them and just giving them a formal reason for injunction.
And you do a real good job of it too. I've seen you try to apologize, I've also heard a few new things about you. So yea...
Doesn't matter what the trigger reason was, the main reason is because you're annoying.

I put n00bs in the same boat as older members who don't understand the rules or how PC works.
And I'll put it this way. If PC didn't have any n00bs would we have so many rules to restrain the normal members? If members were wise enough we might lose the 25 char rule, or the 4 word rule, or the double posting rule, forum posting rule and so on. Why do we have a rule on posting porn, or swearing or spamming etc? It's because we got to point out every single thing to the members.
Back when I joined PC had only unwritten rules (I don't think it's good, but it shows how much PC has changed). The only rules we had were the double posting rule (no one enforced it), the swearing rule, and maybe the 30 day thread rule as well as the forum linking rule. That's it, and all of them weren't enforced that much. The worst you could do was bash a Staff member (heh) or PC, or post porn. Do any of them and you'd likely end up banned.
We had little to no n00bs back then. But now PC has ton of n00bs and thus we have a ton of members.

And for that last part, you know what, I'm just going to quote something I told Paul today.
"I will say this only once. Don't EVER tell me how to do my job as a Staff member. There is some truth behind that "purely positive" list of mine. I have been on the Staff almost 4 years. I damned well know the difference in things when it comes to the Staff."
As I said in that post, I don't go by the books, I'm not the perfect Staff member of PC, I'm not the Staff's role model. And my ways will not change until 1 of 2 things happen.
1: I leave PC.
2: I'm kicked off of PC's Staff.

For you (as well as others), respect might be given out as free candy to kid. But to me, respect is earned and isn't given lightly. Actions, posts, sayings and so on deem the respect I have for a person.

And if you do reply to this, then you'll have to get over your fear of PMs. Because my reply will be via PM.

Gentleman, by that I mean Crystal Walrein and Arcanine, please cool down or you'll both be asked to not post in this topic for awhile, ok?
I'm going to say this in the nicest way I can.
It's best to not tell that sort of stuff to me (it never gets anywhere).

And now that that's over. I want Diamond soooo bad. I even got a little countdown clock on my laptop. XD
I can not wait to battle my friends online, I know my wins might be very very very few. But just the chance to battle online (or even online chats) is something I've been wanting to do for so long. Wanting to show off my team and see how well they do when batting so and so. Even random battles will be on the fun side (I don't think I'll be doing many of them, it's just not as fun batting some random person). And then there's trading. Being able to have a Pokemon from my friends. Maybe Erica will trade me a Pichu, and I'll send her an Arcanine XD. It'd be good to have a Pokemon from each of my close friends, having the Pokemon they like as well as their name on it. I can't wait to get my hands on Diamond.
A little under 11 days till the NA launch.

Nobody knows what Calculus is. =D
Calculus is the method of explaining and predicting nature with differentiations and integrations. :laugh: /random

I could say a few things in regards to what has happened during the past twelve hours, but I'll take it to my grave I suppose.
-puzzle- ...Good decision I think.

was that rule Marc and I thought of for OVP that prohibited discussion of the poll, which was meant to slow down 22sa's off-topic posting.
Boy, did you guys pick a retarded time to reject my gift and blessing back then. :P Oh, what damage to my self-interest! I had to retreat to MFC Forum just to chat without boring restrictions. =O

I'm going to say this in the nicest way I can.

I couldn't agree more.

As for D/P, I'll wait for an emu/rom, thanks... I would hate to have to carry another electronic device. I have enough friggin' electronics to carry around. Laptop, external hardrive, CD walkman, camera, oh please no more! ;o;

I love the new concepts introduced in D/P though. The re-organizing of moves belonging to each element into physical, special, and other was genius.

I kind of want to be a kid again just so I could enjoy all this Pokemon stuff more...... like I did once before. So much...

I'll wait for the rom as well. I've also got a vast arsenal of electronics, and not trying to add another one. If there were a bunch of other games that interested me, I might buy it, but I havn't really heard of any.

I was kind of disappointed by the new generation, for the most part anyway. Way too many legendaries and evolutions/pre-evolutions that just weren't really needed. =\
