Hmmm Ledian
Firstly i do like his dex description its pretty cool but i feel that this poke is outshined by a lot of other bug types. Firstly its bug and flying which we have a lot of and theres many suitable bugs out there that could do better in battle. I used hi. Once and he wasnt that great he doesnt have great stats sadly and his moveset at the time was not great. But if you do use him right he can actually be a wall/supporter (surprisingly) hes got great SpDef and could be used to stall and egg some effects out on the stage so ya. But basically i wouldnt use him hes even outshined a bit by his hoenn partner in crime Msaquerian which could be used more but if rather go with a butterfree or vivillon anyday. Hope for a mega though cause he needs one haha

Sorry for the delay guys, I was sick this week and got a big behind. Here's the next Pokémon of the Week:

Spoiler:

Genesect!

Black Pokédex: Over 300 million years ago, it was feared as the strongest of hunters. It has been modified by Team Plasma.

I know nothing about this Pokémon at all honestly. But I do know there's a theory that it's actually a Kabutops based on this Pokédex entry about Kabuto:

It is thought to have inhabited beaches 300 million years ago. It is protected by a stiff shell.

So possibly? That's about all I have though.

I believe that just means they lived in the same era. Kabuto/Kabutos are Rock/Water-Types, not Bug, so I think it's safe to say Genesect is not a Kabutops. Genesect was given it's cannon and (presumably) it's armor by Team Plasma. This would convert it's Rock typing to Steel, but would leave it's other type, Water, unchanged.

I think Genesect has a cool design, but it's concept seems to just be "let's take half of Mewtwo and combine it with half of Arceus!". What I mean by that is Genesect was created by science, just like Mewtwo, and it's ability is just a more limited version of Arceus's ability. It's stats also seem rather poor for a legendary. It should be faster, given that it has "High-Speed Flight", and because it was supposedly a powerful predator. Predators are generally successful because they're fast enough to catch their prey, but Genesect is not. I feel that it's stats should also be focused more offensively to reflect this as well.

Genesect? I know that's a Pokémon that, with Download and STAB U-turn, dominated OU for a while before it got the banhammer (I think?). But I remember that guy in BW who, if you show him Genesect, he gets all hammy and starts shouting about how strong Genesect is.

And the same kind of guy, while not necessarily the same guy, but has i think has the same attitude about genesect is found in Mauville in the Gen 3 remakes.

Anyway, i always thought that Genesect was really cool lore-wise. I mean a pokemon with really souped up stats and is a creation of Team Plasma, i almost thought that it was something you could catch in-game but alas, its one of those "unless i attend actual nintendo events" kind of pokemon, aka ones I'll probably never get myself.

BUFF GENESECT.RITO PLZ. WILLING2PAY9001RP

Moving on....

I'm hoping that it will get the same treatment as Deoxys did where it could be now caught in the post-game of the next generation, after going through a lengthy Post-game "episode".

Time for a new Pokémon!

Spoiler:

Silcoon!

Ruby Pokédex: Silcoon tethers itself to a tree branch using silk to keep from falling. There, this Pokémon hangs quietly while it awaits evolution. It peers out of the silk cocoon through a small hole.

Not much to say about this one, but it's the gateway to Beautifly, which is a pretty cool Pokémon in its own right.

Silcoon? I have a Beautifly in my current Omega Ruby Wedlocke, the first Pokémon I caught no less. It's still with us after five badges and it's nice that they gave the thing a boost to its Special Attack this generation. And it has a nice design too, so it's one that it was cool that it got a boost, making it more fun to use.

I always liked Beautifly better than Dustox, so to have this as the featured Pokemon is a welcome blessing. I had one as a temporary member of my Alpha Sapphire team who wrecked Brawly with just her Gust, and while I was gutted to find out her Hidden Power becomes Bug-type (yeah a type she gets STAB for, which makes it so wasted) so I recently stuck Shadow Ball on her for coverage options now that I'm training her again. Beautifly may not be the most impressive battle-wise, but it's always one of the more cute-looking fully-evolved Bug-types out there.

My last round ended up being a post and go due to a lack of activity lately, but I have another Pokémon for us this week!

Spoiler:

Whirlipede!

Black Pokédex: Protected by a hard shell, it spins its body like a wheel and crashes furiously into its enemies.

This would definitely be the ultimate Rollout Pokémon. Screw you, Whitney

The 'pede line is one of the best lines in all of Gen V (honestly, Gen V was great for new Bug Pokémon if you ask me) and though I've never used them, I still like them a lot for what they can do. Whirlipede has a great design and I would just love to steamroll my opponents with it.

Ahhh whirlipede. If there's one thing that i love about Gen 5 is that it introduced bug types that are actually good, and not just your typical Scizor, Heracross, and Pinsir lines.

I love to admit that of all the "cocoon" stages of a bug type, Whirlipede is definitely the coolest looking of them all. The way it rolls into a spikey ball of pain really makes it stand out from other "cocoon" stage bug types.

of course when this thing grows into a Scolopede (i can't spell), it becomes a real beast of a bug type with Megahorn and Poison Jab along with great offensive stats such as ATK and Speed. Then Dream world abilities came in and they gave this bug's line Speed Boost, which pretty much makes this bug's line viable from its usual tier to even UBERS!

Time for a new Pokémon of the Week!

Spoiler:

Dustox!

Sapphire Pokédex: When Dustox flaps its wings, a fine dust is scattered all over. This dust is actually a powerful poison that will even make a pro wrestler sick. This Pokémon searches for food using its antennae like radar.

...why a pro wrestler specifically?

Dustox is one of those Pokémon that I really like, but it just doesn't get the stats to be used all that well. I tried using it a couple of times in the Ruby and Emerald and it just didn't work out for me. Still, it is one of my favorite Pokémon.

While Beautifly is my fave of Wurmple's final evo stages, Dustox is still good on its own as well. I find it pretty cute thanks to Jessie's Dustox in the anime, which was one of her star Pokemon when it came to contests. I also loved how her farewell was a throwback to that of Ash's Butterfree.

I love how unique the evolution concept of Wurmple randomly decides if it becomes Dustox or Beautifly in the end, and that's all down to a personality value that is very hard to decode. There has been like no other Pokemon with such a complicated method as that, and that's what makes the Wurmple line unique in their own way.

I must agree that Beautifly will always be my favorite bug and flying type but dustox shows skills as well. I find dustox cute yet it can be very intimidating with its eyes. I feel it lacks the stats that most battlers look for but it still has a pretty good moveset and its definately not a poke that you really forget! And i definately agree with Hikari on the fact that the evoltuion method that decides who you will receive is extremmmely complicated! In oras however i caught a wurmple and decided to go with whichever one i got as my partner to replace my starter and i got beatuifly but i definately would have gone with either the hoenn bug line is definately my fav. :)

I'm gonna get groovy and join this lovely set-up you got here. So, here are my formalities -

NAME // Kiyoshi the Polar Bear, but my real name's Joseph, if you like that. I plan on changing this username when the next round of name changes come up, but I certainly don't mind if you call me Kiyoshi! I wouldn't have picked it in the first place if I didn't like it.

PARTNERS // Galvantula and Venonat, please.

REASONS // I always thought my favorite type was fire as a kid, but I think that was mostly because it fit my brute-force attitude and playstyle. While I still like it and my favorite Pokemon is a fire-type, I find bug-type to be a lot more creative with its moves and interesting. I've always had a soft spot for it and if I were to pick a gym-type to train, it would be bug-type.

And onto the beetlejuicy topic here -

CURRENT TOPIC // Beautifly over Dustox any day. I enjoy Silcoon much more than its counterpart as well. Wurmple has always been one of my favorite lines, and I love its evolution mechanic. Although it does get in the way occasionally when you're breeding for IVs and you have a specific evolution in mind for your Wurmple, in regular gameplay it's like getting a surprise outcome that you have no say in. I like that a lot, actually; I wish Game Freak would utilize systems like it a lot more often than simply constricting it to just a small set of caterpillar-Pokemon and those ditzy pandas near Fallarbor.

Welcome! I know what you mean, Fire-type is my favorite as well, but Bug-types are definitely pretty awesome.

It seems we have a lot of Beautifly lovers here, and I do have to agree that it is a much better battler than Dustox. I don't know what it is, but I still like Dustox despite that.

Name: SassyBeartic

Reason for liking Bug types: They're pretty cool in general and I love them to death.

Pokemon: Metapod and Leavanny

Move: X Scissor

Topic:
Bug types were pretty underpowered in Gen 1, but have gotten stronger, and I respect that.

Welcome! Bug-types definitely were tough to use in Gen I. Thankfully they got some really good moves and now can be some of the best Pokémon to use.

Let's have another Pokémon of the Week, shall we?

Spoiler:

Joltik!

Black/White 2 Pokédex: Since it can't generate its own electricity, it sticks onto large-bodied Pokémon and absorbs static electricity.

So an Electric-type Pokémon that can't generate it's own electricity. Make a whole lot of sense.

Joltik is one of the smallest Pokémon in existence, only 0'04"/0.1 m tall and weighing 1.3 lbs/0.6 kg, which makes it very cute in my opinion. It then evolves into Galvantula, which is a pretty powerful and pretty powerful Pokémon in its own right, so for these reasons, I like Joltik quite a bit.

No love for Joltik? I'm surprised, it's pretty cute and it evolves into quite an awesome Pokémon in Galvantula. I'll leave it up for another week in hopes that you guys have some things to say :P

Name: trotz59 (Troy)

Pick two Bug-type Partner Pokémon: Ledian and Yanmega

Reason(s) for liking Bug-types: They are actually my super favorite type and I talk about them constantly XD. They are really cool and cute. They are fun to use, great during early game, and even have late game potential. They are some of the best to play with for fun and even to compete with. I also think insects are interesting, and Bug types have some of the most unique and individual qualities.

Answer to current topic: Joltik is super adorable, and is a fierce pokemon when it evolves. I actually read a story that had a really interesting joltik in it that could write in the dirt because it was intelligent, and that made me even more interested in it. Spider pokemon also have really interesting dynamics, and with a move like electroweb, doubles are easy to play in with both little cup joltik, and non-little cup Galvantula! If I had to own any first form pokemon it would be Ledyba and Joltik because both are the cutest.
