The Bulbasaur Race [Part 2]

16

I used a Gengar in FireRed. It sadly needed some TM assistance of Psychic and Thunderbolt, because ghost and poison were still physical, but it was still a great sweeper.

I don't like to use it competitively, it's too vulnerable against Knock Off.

17

Yeah Knock Off sucks :( I still use Gengar though! Too strong not to

Gengar is one of those Pokemon that benefitted from the physical/special split, with Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb becoming special moves.

19

I don't think there are many Pokémon that didn't benefit of it, because it has often given access to more useful non-STAB moves. Take Houndoom as example, a full special sweeper. Prior to the split it had only access to Flamethrower and Crunch (and eventually Solarbeam). Crunch might have become physical, but is easily replaced by Dark Pulse. Additionally, Sludgebomb became special too.

The split was the best thing to ever happen to Pokemon. That and breeding ofc!

Onix is one of the most iconic Pokemon from the first gen imo! I love it

I'll save this Pokémon in honor of Brock! I'm not a fan of Rock-type Pokémon but I like Brock, so yeah, let's save Onix!

15.

Speaking of Rock type Pokemon, I feel like naming my favourites from each generation.

Gen 1: Rhydon and Omastar
Gen 2: Tyranitar
Gen 3: Cradily
Gen 4: Rhyperior
Gen 5: Terrakion
Gen 6: Tyrantrum

I agree, I mostly like Onix for how iconic it is. I also love imagining how huge it is and how cool it would be to have one as a little pal just walking around with you.

The crystal Onix was awesome. It wasn't just a shiny Pokémon (which I don't think even existed at the time), it even showed resistance to water.

Speaking of Rock type Pokemon, I feel like naming my favourites from each generation.

I agree to a big part of that list. I'm a real fan of ancient looking Pokémon, so I love most fossil Pokémon and Larvitar's evolution line.
