A dolphin would be such a cool Pokémon but at the same time I think it'd end up just adding to the standard bland Water Pokémon lines like Wailmer, Finneon, etc... hopefully they'll decide to make it something more quirky if they do go for a dolphin at least haha.

Mmm yeah. Especially if they base it off of a bottlenose dolphin. There isn't much you can do with that. Still though I would loove to have a Pokemon of my favorite sea mammal regardless.

Maybe it's because I've been watching a few Super Mario World playthoughs, but my first thought for a dolphin Pokemon had it wearing goggles like the dolphins from SMW.

Yes, a mosquito is really something I miss. (It was one of the first fakemon a drew years ago.) But they keep creating butterflies for some reason.
And indeed, now you mention it, there's no dolphin either. Wailmer and Wailord are biologically the closest to a dolphin. I'll try to think of some more missing animals, because I can't think of any right now.

Pretty sure there's no platypus! Now that would be a fun Pokémon, and probably such an impractical one too :D

Both the Psyduck and Lotad lines have big similarities with platypuses.
