The "clan" Organization thread V.4

Have we elected Co-Leaders yet? Or have we even decided on leader yet?
I'd still like to suggest my idea of a council. :/

This rule is one of the various reasons why clans might be trashed altogether. Why? PC is a free community, and an open one. Jack, look in the eyes of a new player for a second. "Oh cool, all these great battlers, let me try out 8D" To get rejected, and shut down, dampening the kid's spirit and join another some other clan to probably never succeed in competitive battling. Is that what you want? Continue for newbie members to stay that way and overall PC's level of skill players will just decrease.

We don't need people prove themselves via battle, just see their skill. And honestly, I'm pretty adamant on all this by the way.

Fact: If I was rejected many months ago by not really a clan, but rather a person whom could train me. I'd be like the newbs walking around, and not the extreme berserker that you see me as today.

Just because we bring along new players in competitive battling by no means automatically degrades us to 'noobs'. How does an awesome group of competitive battlers that teach and mentor players, making them better and make the community and Clan better, and overall teaching the ways of the force people how to battle competitively make us noobs? If anything we should attain more respect for doing such a deed to the community.

I know we had this argument earlier, and I wasn't so much in it and I want to be in it. =/

We can still see what strategy they like to implement. So yeah, the new way the clan should recruit new members & still follow the idea of Nos. We'd battle them to test their level of skill, but they get in too. Also, we still moderate joining on respect and grammar as well.

If my opinion on this destroys your thoughts of me as a leader, okay. >__>

Dude, if my thoughts of you being leader could be destroyed by that, they must not be very strong to begin with. T_T What you said just makes me more supportive of you becoming leader.

See, I don't think anyone was dumped from the clan like your example. This is just an assumption, but to me, I think the testing system was only implemented in order to filter out hackers and people with absolutely no clue and no intention of getting better. The test is to make sure the person is at least giving an effort rather than prove their skill. I'm all for having anyone join, so long as they've been tested to prove they actually want to be in the clan and aren't just there to goof off.

Something Sabaku no Gaara instituted in the Clan v3 was the Clan Academy, a seperate forums for new members to go to in order to learn and improve. If we could create a clan where both veterans can enjoy themselves and beginners can improve, that would be ideal. But without a structured learning system for beginners, it would spiral downwards the same way this thread seemed to.

Thus, I still stand by my proposition of BeachBoy as leader 100%.

I also think the recruitment system should remain, but only to filter hackers and goof offs.

In addition, a system to improve beginners should be instituted in the new clan.

BeachBoy, do you have any arguments with those three suggestions?

...I would suggest re-reading over the discussion BeachBoy and I had on the last page:

If we're improving them by giving them reasons, why can't we keep them around and help them improve and become better further? Just based on past experiences really can't gauge that seeing as we need to work on the future.

I've seen a loss make people quit forever or simply never come back to the place of rejection, destroying players and saying you did this wrong good bye isn't the best way to improve. =/ And what kind of rep do you think we get for kicking out people that can be brought along.

And also, the system of it in general goes against the PC main ideal, free community. If someone is so bad to be rejected, why can't we allow them to stick around and learn by our metagame discussion and other various battles, etc. Letting them move along in a system where they can improve really doesn't have faults.

We're a group of devoted players that can improve many many players, instead of going "Hey you did this wrong, do this, come back, and try again" we can go "Oh, your skill isn't really up to par, how about you stick around and learn this, this and this." With an established member bring them along?

We don't need rejection to bring someone along.

About "kicking them out"...did the Clan ever really do this before? I know for certain that there was nothing to stop somebody from spying in on one of the metagame discussions (I myself am guilty of doing this, so I say from experience), and the worst I saw or can remember as far as "blocking" another user was refusing their request for a battle. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in either the past or future preventing us from offering to assist members in improving (this IS what you are promoting, is it not?) should they not pass recruitment. In fact, would requiring them to be a member in order to get help not be another form of the same elitism that you are arguing against? Why should it matter if the player in question is a member of the Clan or not, if they want to get help from everybody here?

What I am basically saying is that we can combine the best of both worlds: if a user passes their recruitment test, they're in as a member. If they do not, we still keep them around to try and help them to improve, anyway.

...I think I'm essentially backing the "Clan Academy" idea here...

I see what you're saying and agree really. That's really the idea I was trying to find to say.

I wasn't trying to say making them a member so they didn't run off, but merely offer them a slot to come and learn. The one thing I care about with other clans in Wireless Battle Stadium is that they cut down to be honest and really start showing respect to what WBS was originally create for, individual threads. =/ I hope we all just don't get wiped off the face of the earth. >_>

Anyway, I see what your point is and agree really. Merely not give them the title of membership, but keep them around to improve.

Probably, the one problem with what you are suggesting is the unlikelihood that DeanoDance, classicrockfan, or Blueberry will allow us to open up two new threads.

Excellent point...

Two threads, well, I can tell you guys here that's a flat no in the face. o_o;

What if we were to persuade two of the small clans that have popped up to join into the clan and have their two threads deleted to allow us to open up the new threads?

What was wrong with having a seperate forums for the 'Clan Academy?' That's what Saba did, and it wasn't frequented much because not many people were joining, and then Saba left for a while, and it just dissapeared. Would bringing that back work? If the Clan was more active, it might be successful.

^This.

Anyway, on a lighter note......some time this weekend, my team should be sufficiently completed, as I only need to grow some EV berries and evolve one of my Pokemon. So, I should be available for battles again soon.

I agree that the academy should be opened, and I also agree with Jack; what is wrong with having a separate forum for the "Clan Academy"? Also, no one bothered to comment on my suggestion >.>

If you would look in my & BeachBoy's more recent posts, you would see why.

Yes, I did.

....................Also, forget what I said before: I'm ready enough to start battling again now. Now, where's that list... Ah, here it is:

....

...You know what, *throws list away* forget it.

I are slow 8D
It seems all we can really do is wait. I propose that we keep things a-float in this thread until a new one can be opened. On a side note, I challenge you Ichaste ._.

Oh, my...the current situation of our battle is quite entertaining, yes, Xairmo?

Ah, that was a close match. Good job.

Okay, Ooka, I'm ready for you next.

EDIT: And, of course, the one Pokemon I don't want to see is your lead. -.-

Dude Ichaste, that was THE best and closest match I've had! I was literally holding my breath for those last two pokes we had out xD
I look forward to many more battles against you! :D

EDIT: And yes it was extremely entertaining! I really wish I could have recorded it :P

Yeah, a lot of teams suffer from a weakness of this Pokemon. That's why I use it in OU :D (btw, I hate OU O_O)

Same here.

I am seriously considering swapping in Stone Edge over Brick Break just to counter it on two Pokemon instead of one. But, once you had that one stat boost in, it was no longer safe to switch in to anybody else. I was stuck. :\

Good game, Ooka. I hope for a rematch in the future.

...Then again, I guess it was alright for my return to battling after a 2-3 month hiatus.

Actually, as long as it has Thunderbolt, you can always switch Starmie in on a stat boost or before one.

...Alright, what the hell? Why is it that everytime I leave this place is completely dead beyond recognition, then when i decide to sign back on a few days later, it somehow comes alive again, and I end up having to read through 3 pages of text to get caught up on things? T__T

..Actually, you know what? Screw it, i don't feel like having to look back. Someone PM me letting me know if I actually missed anything of any sort of importance...like Aya coming back or...something...

Yes, but I was afraid you had Electivire waiting for me to try something like that. In my opinion, the risk outweighed the positives.

What I probably should have done was leave my lead in to try and OHKO it anyway.
